I had seen this anime in MAL a few months ago when similar results to redline and gurren lagann came out, the first thing I thought was "it must not be so cool" but then here I am putting 10 and in favorites, space dandy really surprises me.
It's all I ever wanted, good animation, funny and odd characters, a big and bizarre world, machines, artifacts and things that are just as bizarre and cool and TITS, I don't need anything else in my life, I can finally rest in peace
Alex and Zarek's duel of Space Dandy vs Pandora Hearts. Let's see how I'll like it.
A great fast-paced feel with comedy while breaking the fourth wall of the narrator and audience. -- Space Dandy, his life and work, to one day rule all of the Boobies bars, and work as a Alien Hunter.
And a Gorilla seems to want him, calling Dandy the key to global empire. I love how entertaining it is in is unique twist of everything. Weirdly enough... they die?
[Episode 2:] Well who knows the survived, but they did. I like the cat, he's cutely funny. The inside modern jokes and parodies are funny. The robot is awesome, this anime is great! The characters, and the animation movement is beautiful as well. He did a Michael Jackson move too LOL.
||| Basically an anime filled with modern references and parody jokes. |||
Scarlett and Honey are great as well.
And the men of the Gorilla keep chasing Dandy. And so they go in search of a special ramen. --It seems like a lot of random episodes with everything and anything, that type of comedy with no strong plot. Except that he's getting chased by that Gorilla.
[Episode 3:]
They save an extremely hot girl. Funny enough though she's... a terrifying alien it seems. And the scary monsters are actually warning them about her. She eats anything. And her true form is an ugly booby monster.
...So far, not every episode is so great. Just like your natural long running American tv shows where some episodes are great and some suck, or some series have a better rating to my taste of loving their episodes or not. And, I wouldn't be surprised if the episodes aren't so great, giving it a 7.
[Episode 4:] Meow gets bit and turns into a zombie contaminating everyone in the hospital. Hilarious enough they became zombies and continued their lives. This lifestyle is pretty funny haha. Then EVERYONE is a zombie... this anime though still feels like a score of 7/10. Or less.
[Episode 5:] A alien girl transfer's Dandy's conscious into a stuffed animal. But he beats her, gets his body back and keeps her captive to register. And they slowly get along. Misunderstanding Dandy who was helping her she gets kidnapped. He saves her and she meets his grandpa just as Dandy planned. When she grows up she plans to join his crew! Really good episode.
[Episode 6:] A rather dumb comedic war against undies and vests. Pretty boring.
[Episode 7:] Jealous of the #1 fastest space racer stud attracting all the ladies, Dandy decides to become a racer. Prince falls in love with Dandy as his first rival.
... I still don't like it, there's no strong plot whatsoever except for the failed villain endlessly chases hero plot. And the episodic stories are random with no real connection to anything, random happenings and conclusions. No point in anything. No plot!
[Episode 8:] Dandy adopts a sweet female dog, but then she dies. Still not enjoyable episodes. Nothing worthwhile.
[Episode 9:] They go in search of a new species in a planet of Plants. The ost in this episode is hilarious. And he kills the planet.
[Episode 10:] They visit Meow's hometown. They get stuck in a loop. QT on the 88th day finally noticed. But only took action on the 108th loop. But in the end they're still caught in the loop. --The only great episode I truly enjoyed so far.
[Episode 11:] An alien book that causes amnesia kind of story. Ok episode.
[Episode 12:] The gang go for the chase of a shape-shifter alien. And they actualy caught one without knowing. The Chameleon shifts into Dandy. Super good episode, I liked up to the ending.
[Episode 13:] LAST EPISODE
QT falls in love with a coffee maker machine. Doing a bad job in her job, Coffee Maker got transferred somewhere to die for showing feelings, like she was in love. Unfocused in her work. Going in chase for her in over a week he finally finds her, in the dump. And the other robots go in a revolution. And for Coffee Maker, he attempts to save Cash Register. And it ends with him not getting anything... Good ep.
... Space Dandy:
Extremely Visually appealing in its art, with the universe being in space, with many different planets, galaxies, and aliens. A unique world and life in space.
And while the characters a likable, and pretty good. They don't show enough to be great. The notable ones are; Dandy, Meow, QT, Honey, and Scarlett. --Any other ones are less interesting or boring.
As for the story, it sucks. The episodes are usually interesting, but not enjoyable. Very little entertainment or love to my taste. Some parts are funny, but they're bad episodes overall because I didn't enjoy them to their fullest. They are small in value. Poor stories of episodes really.
As for the music, it's great. The voice actors as well with many accents in some characters which is new and appealing. And the parody is too subtle which is weak.
Even vacuum cleaners fall in love is quite an episode, it makes me sympathize a lot with QT, a character we only see as a sort of straight man to Dandy and Miau. The episode of how he falls in love in 23 days and the lengths he goes to just for this new sensation he learnt is quite the journey, makes you understand and care for QT way more than the 12 episodes before this one, his quest and failure to impress an unrequited love is very relatable,we've all fell inlove with someone who didn't feel the same way and the episode captures the feeling and the lengths we go to for that person that made us feel something new, even if they didn't feel the same... my only complaint might be that some aspects fall into a bit of a cliché, but it's executed in a way that it doesn't really matter
Very entertaining final episode.
Definitely a lot of Daft Punk vibes to it.
Overall Space Dandy was very fun, it explored so many different ideas and displayed them wonderfully.
Just a really fun series even if most of the episodes are standalone.
