The story is interesting so far, but the fish animations were pretty underwhelming, if I'm being honest. And since this is the first episode where they presumably put extra effort in, it'll probably get worse from here on out. That's fine, I'm not here for the fish anyway. |

The visual quality is stunning. I think this may be p.a works's best when it comes to it. It felt like I was watching a movie especially with the way the pace was handled along scenery visuals and what not. Character designs are cool and this definitely has potential to end up as something I'll like. I'm impressed |

Wow very impressive first episode. I get the feeling this show might end up being something like Sakura Quest, where you have a main group of cast goes through self discovery/tries to overcome their past all while trying to save something they care about. |

Pretty good start. I really enjoyed this first episode. The visual, characters, and sound effects are very good. But why this anime only have 61K members on MAL? A little bit underrated? |

As always, P.A. and their originals are ALWAYS stellar during the earlier EPs. Sometimes it stays (or improved) like in Shirobako, Hanasaku Iroha, Angel Beats, Sakura Quest, etc, but some other times they went downhill somewhere during the later EPs (i.e. Glasslip, and even though I like Irodzuku, I can't say I actually liked its last EPs). Let's just hope Aquatope matched the earlier trends. |

Amazing art, its so relaxing. So... yeah, this could go the Hanasaku Iroha/Shirobako/Sakura Quest route. We got: -An ex-idol who regrest about her enden dream, was it to become an idol like the ones she watched when she was a kid? Because it looked like she did work a lot for it, to even get the center position of a new song. Then she heard a talk between her kouhai and manager, after that she ask staff to give her role in the song to her kouhai, probably after that she decides to quit. She chose to do all of that right? Why is she complaining about it? Does she regret that decision? We'll have to wait to see how her background is build and the reason about all of this drama. -A extrovert girl who runs the town's aquarium. Here it looks like the fishes are getting a new home (and the aquarium closing), maybe for the low number of tourists, she probably (surely) wants to avoid that but looks like she has no plans yet (maybe we'll know about it soon). -A god/goddess who eats offerings and got Fuuka's sun hat. Cant say if he/she will help them with powers/magic/motivation/etc. So Fuuka will live with Kukuru and work in the aquarium, then as an Idol, make some performances or something related to increase tourism while she deals with her dream drama and decides her future. Hope it goes well for this show. |

Beautiful backgrounds as expected from PA Works. Characters seem likable and the designs are nice albeit a bit generic. Nothing much to talk about the story cuz that would mainly start from the next episode. |

It might be gay in the future, I don't know, but this show was not positioned as romance. oh yeah now on second look you're right. I thought this anime was based on a lesbian manga I'd heard about bc at quick glance they seem similar and I'd seen someone on another website categorize it as a yuri but I was wrong. If it does turn out gay I won't be complaining tho |

as someone who owns 4 aquarium at home, this anime is beautiful to me in many ways. a failed idol who wants to work in an aquarium center. Good start. will be watching 2 or 3 more episodes before judging on drop or continue. |

First of all: The animation is a 4.9 of 5. Pretty impressive. Only the aquariums are subpar. Then for the stroy: I am not sure. This can be really great. but this starts so slw, that I am not even sure, if we know, what direction the story will take. But i wouldn't be surprice, if Fuuka get the fisher boy in the end (as a side story). This would be ultimate break up from the idol industry as (at least young) idols can never been seen with boy friends. But for the idol background of Fuuka I am unsure. It looks more like she gave up when the first little problems show up and not, when she finally had failed. On the one hand, her popularity has gone down and she didn't stand out. But she was planned as the center of the new single "Love Clover" of her group Yona Pro. And her name gets deleted after Fuuka herself has talked to the management. Her management states in beginning, that she sacrifices her chance to another, too. Fuuka hadn't failed. She gave up early! It more looks like, she felt herself not good enough in comparision to Shiroi Ruka (The girl with yellow hair, who called Fuuka "senpai"). |

Rickydory123 said: Really calming. It gave me the similar feeling like Super Cub, “I wanna live in Japan” kinda feeling. What is that tiny creature walking around in some scenes? It just gobbled up a fish head just like that...it seems like it might play a similar role like that alien in Adachi to Shimamura. People went crazy after having Banana Fish and here she says it was delicious XD How come an aquarium like that doesn't have enough customers...? It might cost a lot to maintain all these marine creatures, if they don't get enough customers then it must be really tough for them dealing with all the expenses. It's surprising for this type of anime to get 2 cours. I usually watch 12 episodes long slice of life anime, never watched 24 episodes long slice of life with this slow pacing. I just hope it gets interesting after the 1st cour so that I can survive till the end. Not every SoL anime is a regular filler to create a chill atmosphere. |

Not sure why, but I get the feeling this is going to be the one to look out for this season. Just the atmosphere, the visuals, the music, the characters are all just... right. I don't know how else to put it. There's something intangible about this anime that draws me in. For some inexplicable reason I want to be immersed in the magic of the Aquatope. I'm looking forward to the next episode. |

Everyone groaning about how this would be awful is it was a yuri I agree is some aspects. What I mean by that is that is if this turns into some super sexualized yuri anime it would ruin it. I don’t know how to describe it but if it turns into a wholesome realizing of self yuri sort of like bloom into you I think it would really excel. |

I'm already interested in the story. I loved the animation and I found certain sceneries really beautiful, especially that aquarium one. So colourful! I'm looking forward to more episodes to find out more about the two main characters and the supernatural. I wonder where they're going with story considering it has 24 episodes. I bet many good and interesting things await us. Also genuine question since I've been skimming through the comments. Why are some so against this turning into yuri? I personally don't really mind if this does or doesn't turn into yuri at some point. If it's done anything like Bloom Into You, I really don't mind it at all. It just serves as a bonus. I mean that's kind a double standard. If one of them was a boy and they fell for each other at some point, I bet almost no one would complain. Some would even wait for it. I just don't understand the revulsion. |

I mean I just don't understand the dislike for yuri or yaoi romance (disregarding the bad apples in yuri/yaoi fandoms). Yuri/yaoi romance can also be done really well like Given or Bloom Into You that I mentioned and some are just mostly done for views and fanservice, I can admit that (but you can have plenty of fanservice in straight romance anime too and most don't complain). But I doubt if they went the yuri route that it would be like fanservice to yuri fanboys. I bet they'd do it in a wholesome way. Anyway, I personally don't care either way. Whether this turns out as a beautiful friendship or a beautiful romance (subtext or otherwise), I am fine with either. You can't please everyone. I'll take whatever the creators have in store for us since it looks really promising just with one episode. |

Ah, yes, Okinawa, aquariums, fishes, penguins, blue-haired girl, ex idol, supernatural-ish, how come i miss this show at its premiere? Well, watched this one today, and, yeah, thats pa works for yah with a beautiful art quality on its first. I can't help but took a certain screenshots of some fishes to be part of my gallery. Well, don't forget about those two pretty girls too, though. So, yeah, this is definitely my type of show that fulfill my enjoyment. Imma just chilling, seeing all of the fishes goofing around my mobile screens, and hopefully the interactions of the girls can bring some good mood too and lots of happiness. You know what i mean? Do some people read too much into things? Definitely, I agree some people see 2 girls doing anything suggestive and they want to ship them and yeah its a bit much at times but theyre just having fun. But like c'mon people who refuse to acknowledge when theres something going on there are also too much, the trailer was definitely baiting people into thinking their relationship could be romantic, refusing to accept that and saying its just crazy yuri fans seeing something in nothing are just blind, was the studio baiting people with the ambiguous pv and art? Absolutely, like cmon if one of the girls was replaced with a guy it wouldn't even be a question. Now I know you're not all crazy and just like trolling cuz at times you do say normal stuff and have said that we're still too early on the series and that indeed theres maybe a chance of yuri but you also seem to genuinely hate people that like yuri lol, not everyone that likes yuri does it for political reasons of pushing that stuff and even less do people that like yuri are also into twitter and tumblr or whatever lol, some people just like seeing 2 girls going at it dude nothing wrong with that, I especially like that in yuri romances that the focus is on the psychological/emotional state of both parties instead of just "ahhhh tits". If anything its quite sad you'd equate what Japan does with yuri and how the wackos at the websites you mention take it, people being crazy there has nothing to do with yuri itself, and unlike there where its just crazies pushing it gor the sake of pushing it in Japan most yuri author are lesbian women just wanting to support girls going through a tough time cuz things are still pretty bad for them over there, yuri is a niche genre were most readers are women and a high% of them are gay, just looking for a bit of support not crazy people demanding more inclusivity or whatever. Welp all im saying is just chill a bit, i know youre having fun trolling but people cant have a discussion if this will even be a yuri cuz you keep on going after everyone that suggests that, its killing the mood. |

I bet that when we finally know if it's yuri or not, most viewers will have catharsis. Yeah and its mostly cuz you keep hounding every person that even insinuates they like yuri or would like this show to be a yuri, if anything I admire your dedication to take away others fun of wanting a yuri relationship.
