Wow easily one of the best episodes in this season, damn a mushi that talks, for a moment i thought Ginko gave them the seed and i was like, why man just destroy that thing it shouldn't exist at all, then i saw how he played that afterall.

Jesus christ what a freaky episode. Anything abnormal or a being that isn't suppose to (like A.I) establish the curse of consciousness is in for a ride i can tell you that. Episode gave me the shivers.
went 0-100 fucking quick, the Mushi basically created the "children" to learn shit faster like a hive mind. That means if it kept multiplying fast enough it could soon go well beyond a human mind, as those 5 kids alone seemed to have established thoughts, emotions (but that could of been the increase due to the fear factor they experienced) so imagine an army of them. Legit world ending scenario, freaky shit.
Actual psycho wife, stabbed Ginko and got i guess brainwashed into thinking those were her kids?
Although an absolute cluster fuck, how did Ginko capture one at the end? And nice to see after all the trouble it caused him he still stands by his "no-killing" rule. Lmao he's got a companion now.

What an excelent episode this was, I did not expect Ginko to get injured like that due to how calm this anime is with barely any serious action ever happening. While episode was truly great it also felt a little creepy

Nope , shouldn't have watched this episode this late at night . The chills !!

Also why didn't the children kill Genko themselves ? They looked quite smart , maybe set up a joint murder ?

I've never been fond of kids but OH MY LORD after this episode I'll never go even near one. anyway it was a good ep I was thinking it was just the last ep we heard about staying alive and then BOOM he's being stabbed.

So this episode is about mushi that attacks the womb of a pregnant woman? Creepy and scary. Can't imagine if something like that happened in real life..

I was shocked when the mushis suddenly communicated with each other. If I saw a baby suddenly speak fluently in such a voice.. I would definitely freeze. I swear that's scare me to the death.

It was really interesting to see Ginko have to play the "bad guy" of sorts here - it shows he's good at what he does though because he is able to not be deceived by the mushi trying to prey on human empathy. It's easy to write of the mother as insane but I think it's interesting to consider how motherly instincts would be easily abused by these mushi.

Mushi-shi usually runs a balance between mystifying, fantastical, and horrific. This episode veered much more into the horrific elements of the show. A sentient parasitic hivemind born from a human mother sounds very much like a science fiction horror story. The previous episode had Ginko mention how skeptical he was of living a long life, and this episode shows just how dangerous his occupation is.

An advantage of episodic storytelling is that an episode can have a very different tone or content than others and this is a good example; it goes straight into horror. Ginko's usual veiled kindness rebounds on him badly and he ends up lying to the anguished couple at the end and leaving them to fruitlessly watch over a rock hoping their "children" will be reborn from it.

Ngl the ridiculousness of the woman really made my blood boil, especially because she didn't show any remorse after stabbing Ginko. I truly admire his patience, no other man would still try to help after everything he's gone through.

Highly interesting episode. More bizarre than I would have expected.
The way this slime creature gained consciousness and communicated combined with the mother's attachment was, in a way, deeply disturbing as well as fascinating.

This show can be really damn creepy when it wants to be. The fact that a thing that isn't human can imitate a child so uncannily well is unnerving as all hell (but funnily enough that's probably possible with modern AI lol)

Also, Ginko is way too chill about getting stabbed.

Well, that was terrifying, but I loved it. Honestly, Ginko was doing the right thing tho by lying to them, the plant only cared about itself and its seeds.

The mushi we see this time around is much more scarier than anything we have seen in the past episodes, maybe its because it could talk and deceive.

Pretty much a horror episode. Creepy children.

It was a shock to see Ginko getting stabbed. Well, I kinda understand how that wife must have felt.

It's funny how this episode was a deliberate contrast to the previous one: the previous episode, our supporting character was looking for Mushi stories without killing, without violence, and Ginko said most of his stories are like that. And then here we see how Ginko determines early on that this Mushi needs to be eradicated in the most effective way possible because its proven to be far too dangerous.

Echoing previous sentiments - this was Twilight Zone level of creepy and messed up. Also, super tragic for the woman who lost a child and a marriage before, and tragedy visited her once again.

I've been going through some difficult times in my social life lately, and this episode brought a kind of solace to me and gave me some perspective. There are people in this world who lose as much as the mother did and experience even more senseless tragedy in life. This episode reminded me so much that life and the world is filled with both suffering and moments of love and joy, and none of it has to make sense. It's probably not meant to. And at the end of the day, we are all just trying to fulfill our functions, seek what we need to, and do what we have to as per our nature and function.

S-Tier Mushishi Episode. This is a good example of why Mushishi is an essential anime.

"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

The scariest mushi yet, especially since it could evolve and develop human traits and cunning. No other mushi so far has managed to do that. The mushi-human hybrids we've seen so far were different in that they still retained humanity. This creature though was a mushi through and through, only mimicking humans in a very sophisticated and advanced way.
I could see it easily taking over an entire city if it were left to multiply. Absolutely bone-chilling. Ginko made the right call in collecting the remnants of it, perhaps for future study. I doubt it can ever get out of that bottle lol.
