*Sign* I endured the pain

For those who are considering whether to skip the arc or watch them all like a hardcore anime veteran

I suggest watching these 4 episodes 1 2 5 8

It's a good compromise between the two camps and I believe give all you'd need.
1 establishes the events and show 1st loop.
2 show them noticing the loop
5 emphasise how important not letting haruhi leave the cafe is
8 show them breaking the loop
3,4,6,7 are just repetition that didn't add anything to the experience besides pain and boredom

Thank God, summer has finally ended.

Well, it was torturously repetitive, but I guess that's what it was supposed to be. I liked the ending. OVAH!

Of course. Anybody that skips even one of them and then put the series on their completed list didn't really finish it.

It felt like a challenge but I managed to watch the Endless Eight.

While it is repetitive, at least the alternate outfits made it up for me.

Planning to rewatch series soonish, but back when I first time watched Haruhi, I binged through all 8 episodes and I liked them. Im fan of weird stuff like this and endless eight had this creepy vibe in it, everything looping and nobody barely noticing anything, except Yuki. I think it got more serious when even more loops had occured according Yuki. You cant really experience something like this elsewhere, though conclusion of arc wasnt that exciting and I can imagine agony back then when people waited 2 months something to happen.

I have watched them all, i was looking for hints or changes like on mikuri shirt for example.
But there wasn't much more tham that. And the worst part is that the outcome is just random... 8 episodes just to see haruhi blush with jealous.. *Sigh*

And now they are showing how the movie was made.. Like we should care...

What a waste of time.

Just finished watching the last one. What a waste of time. The only thing that kept me interested was the directing, due to some scarce but still pretty brilliant moments like the clock ticking and Haruhi spinning everyone on the playground.

They could have easily done three or four episodes, but I guess they had to justify the Endless "Eight".

Did not know that there are 8 of them so after 3rd ep I wanted to drop it, thinking that if it's gonna be the same thing over and over there's no nned to watch it.

After 2 days break, I continued and when they skipped buying yukatas, I knew that it's going to be last ep. Thanksfully it really was the last one.
The ending was kind lame though, after all this suffering I was expecting something better.
I'm watching anime since 2012. I also play games, sometimes.

Don't bother me if you want to 'become friends' or things like that.
It's tiresome. I know you just want to collect some meaningless numbers.

Reporting in.
After binge-watching the whole thing I felt a little angry. I really do love the concept and the effort that was put in this million dollar avant-garde product. I did enjoy spotting differences in the episodes that did have them (airplanes, that clock scene) and I really wanted a episode that would have shown how things turned out in timeline without bon festival or atleast no fishes.
In the end what made this experience feel worthless was the ending. Seriously? It had to be off-screen? I did not expect to waste four hours on waiting for something that would only be shown as vague flashback.

Never again.

The first three eps were fine but after that it got so annoying.

i'm currently in the middle of it, didn't realize there were eight until i saw this thread, so i didn't think to keep up with how many i've seen ^-^' it's so tedious, but it's part of watching the anime, i think. maybe this way we can sort of get a fraction of how nagato must feel. poor gal.

UPDATE!!
i got through all of them and i nearly cried because i was so happy it was over. idk if i wouldve felt any different if i'd just skipped these episodes.

It wasn't easy, nor was it fun. And admittedly, my mind drifted a bit while watching. But my eyes did see all eight episodes, so I did something that has killed many brave men.

you know what, i watch it 3 times.... tho the 3rd time, i skip episode 7.... i've have some questionable freetime back then...

and you know what? in the novel, this arc is only span of 1 chapter and the loop only happened once.. kyoani, what are you doing? i genuinly feel bad for people who had to watch it weekly when it aired back then...

Watching it second time and even though I actually liked whole arc, now it starting to become boring, lol. What keeps me watching is paying attention to how characters feel and react through this endure, especially Yuki which I didnt do back when I first time watched it.

Part of fun is read old posts back from airing date. People losing their sanity week after week, some poor souls even predicted after first episode that there would be 2-3 episodes max, oh boy....

Then you should really just skip the meat of this story and watch only the first and last episodes.
The single two interesting things in the TV show's take on this short story are:
- the care that went into changing details in the always newly animated material despite the constant repetition of scenes.
- the way it tries to put you into Nagato's shoes unlike the novel (despite keeping Kyon's point-of-view from the novel -_-).

Note: I'm not trying to defend this series.

You don't need to defend this series, it's amazing. I'm only doing this because I'm that much into this show. I'm currently watching the third episode of the arc as I'm answering this. I'll definitely do it on my first try. I also decided that I should always keep most of my focus on the video or else I'm just cheating.

UPDATE: I finished it! I felt my sanity slipping halfway through, but I thankfully managed to hold onto it. Yes, I feel that this arc could have been done much better, but I feel that the point really was this experiement in absurdity of doing the same episode eight times over because 8 is just infinity (∞) flipped on the side. Endless eight = ∞8... You could also say that this is just a troll, but it's in the spirit of this series.

I did it, still think 3 or 4 episodes is enough for the endless eight arc, but they did 8. (Sigh) atleast it feels satisfying once you finish the arc. 8 episodes was unnecessary though.

I watched it, and really enjoyed all of it.

Endless Eight was amazing to watch because despite all eight episodes having the exact same plot points, every repeat was slightly different. It was a lot of fun seeing what small differences there were and how they changed the narrative slightly. I thought it was very engaging and probably could have tolerated up to about 12 of this kind of episodes before I got mad that nobody ever thought to ask Yuki to tell them about the looping time at the beginning so that they'd be able to form a plan before Haruhi presented her list. I'd say this is the second best arc in the series, with the best being the movie arc (obviously).

Watched all of them. In one day. Poor Nagato…

By the way, how many closets do they need to have? They were dressed for almost every day in something different. If each episode from the endless eight arc had shown us, let's say, 8 outfits and the wohle arc includes 8 episodes, it would mean that each of our protagonists owns at least 64 outfits.
I know it's a really stupid point to search for mistakes at, but I really didn't know what to do…
