| Below are pretty much everything I wrote while the episode was ongoing up until the end of it: "Himeno, jesus christ. XD And Oh no. But yeah, if she did it with a minor who's revealed to be 16, she's definitely get in trouble. Makima's chupa chups was woah tho. That was adorable. Himeno and Denji also forming an alliance, nice. Also, did not expect that Makima's... death??? Arai?? Kobeni?? (even though I do still somewhat hate her) This is by far the darkest episode so far." Overall, I really don't know where we will go from here. But holy christ, from 0 to 100 with no time to literally process everything. |

| Wtf... what's the point of having a best girl if she dies in the end?! God. Even her death was so tragic. I can't imagine how Aki felt T___T he finally used his katana even though it shortened his life, then Himeno finally sacrificed using all of herself, BUT she still died in the end?! I hope whoever that girl is gets ripped to shreds. |

| Can't believe Makima cockblocked Denji. And it seems like that was his only chance to get it on with Himeno, what a waste. She really did not get much screentime before disappearing. |
| This ed ends with flowers on a grave. Rip Himeno. She gave her all to unleash all of the ghost devil, which was enough to at least buy some time before getting instantly devoured by, snake. |

| Woww, what an episode... First of all, I found it really cute how Denji wanted his 1st time to be Makima. As a romantic myself, I was really proud of Denji! Also, that scene with Makima was so cute, it really makes me like Makima more and more. I still don't like what Himeno did though, her attitude with Denji was, in a way, abusive, and Denji deserved better honestly. Later in the episode she said she was completely drunk, and didn't even know what she did last night, admiting she didn't want to take advantage of him. But I don't know if she only did because she was not being herself due to the alcohol, or that she just used that as an excuse, seeing Denji refused and was the adult there. Either way, glad that nothing happened. With that situation resolved, we get a really bloody messy episode, starting why Makima being shot... I'm pretty sure she didn't die, but my question is how she didn't die... Unless she is like Denji, and is also a "Devil Shifter". After that we get what seems to be a massive attack on Devil Hunters, planned by the Gun Devil, with all the hunters being shot... The cinematic for these scenes was amazing The most intense scene is with the introduction of the Katana Devil. So this is what everyone was talking about in these discussions. Wow, the way Denji is already shot in the head (pretty sure he is not dead, but even by being part Devil, wouldn't a shot in the head kill him?), Himeno was also badly hounded, and Aki isn't able to defeat Katana Devil, being badly hounded himself too... I thought he was able to do it with the sword of the Curse Devil, but that girl just revived Katana Devil, like it was nothing... Also, that scene with the Curse Devil was amazing! This anime is delivering so much with the cinematics! We also saw Himeno sacrificing herself to use the full power of the Ghost Devil, just for the Girl to use the Snake (?) Devil and kill the Ghost Devil in no time... Himeno's sacrifice wasn't enough to stop them... And the episode ended with that, and OMG the suspense is intense... I wasn't expecting this episode to be so intense, it makes so much sense why the ending song is called "First Death"... Simply an amazing episode. I believe Himeno is not completely Dead, since the ending hints that she's trapped in another "universe" and will continue to look towards Aki from there. For the 1st time, Himeno's partner didn't die on her, since she saved him :( Also, Katana Devil seems like is just like Denji, so Makima really must know what Denji's secret is. I'm really excited for the next episode. This has been the best episode of the season so far, the direction and animation were amazing! People weren't lying when they said this arc was going to be amazing, I really wasn't expecting them to kill of the entire cast in one episode. Edit: Really liked Makima's scene in the train, it was super well executed, and it also showed a more human side to Makima, and made me believe that she seriously likes the people that work with her, and also that wants to, maybe, change the way that line of industry works? Since the higher-ups seem to not really care about the Devil Hunters themselves, and only look out for their own interests. I'm really interested to see how Makima's character will develop. | This episode, its like Shibuya ark in JJK, but for Chainsaw Man one episode, when alot main characters is now dead, and ALL things become more way serious And god damn it, i just fell in love with Himeno, and that final, that was, pain |

| Ugh I hate how the manga took this sharp turn into sudden gun violence. I really, really feel like this broke the whole mood that was great in the last episode. Everybody dies and suddenly there is a crazy situation. It does build on Himeno's story, but I wish that that situation had had more time to build overall. Also I really like that the creators shows Himeno's point of view when Denji was at her house. I love the filters and colors they used during those scenes. |
| Wow. So much happened in this episode. I honestly didn't expect Himeno to die so early. I feel sorry for her. She loved Aki so much to point that she sacrificed herself in spite of the fact that he didn't reciprocate her feelings. |
| One day your at the top of your game seducing a minor. The next you're dead. Now Makima has no competition in grooming Denji. The moral of the story is gun control does not work. As an aside, it's like MAPPA had a budget surplus, and splurged on animation this episode. The first half is unusually well animated for what it was. |
| That breakfast conversation was such a cruel deathflag in disguise, especially with it coming right after a spicy (and barfy) night. The shot of that eyepatch on the ground is downright chilling. |
| Well looks like Denji get hanky panky in the bedroom so to speak and we actually get a similar scene of Himeno going about her morning routine much like Aki did couple of episodes back and apparently Himeno is the first friend that Denji has ever had in his life and she makes a pact with him to get with Makima whilst she gets with Aki sounds like a fair trade to me. If it weren’t for the fact that the episode then goes downhill in tone and just keeps going downhill in tone as I pretty much witness bloodshed thanks to Makima herself having a mundane conference with the bosses when she got shot on the train along with those who were accompanying her. What’s worse Arai and Kobeni got caught up in this planned out attack on the Devil Hunters along with Denji and the others being ambushed by a dude who can turn into a Katana devil. And then afterwards we get an epic fight between Aki and Katana Man where at first he battles Katana Man with his sword and he injures him pretty badly it looks like he’s gonna win and then a girl with a snake devil comes with backup and completely heals the dude. Himeno even tried to help Aki with her ghost powers but it just wasn’t good enough and then she ends up sacrificing herself just to save Aki in her final moments. This episode itself turned out to be quite a rollercoaster there. As soon as the stuff with Denji and Himeno went extremely dark very quickly and left us with a death that was quite impactful to the point that we had the entire ending for this episode be dedicated to Himeno. God what an episode what an episode is all I can say. Amazing stuff once again. |

| I'm grateful to see this is the highest trafficked mid-season episode by a long shot (more posts than even the episode 12 thread right now). This episode was so good it almost convinced the show is a 10/10 until my hormones cooled off. |
