| He is not a 'Main' protagonist, but my favorite is Piccolo from DBZ. Seeing him transform from a world hating bad guy to one the of the best characters in the series was really awesome. Besides him I am also a big fan of Kenshin Himura(RuroKen), Son Goku(DBZ), and Sousuke Sagara(FMP). |

| Kino, Priss (original Bubblegum Crisis) and Ika Musume come to mind. There are a lot more female characters I like, of course, but they seem to be the secondary protagonists - "female protagonists", playing second fiddle to the male lead (usually by being his love interest), so I wouldn't count them as the "real" protags. As for male protagonists, I simply don't have favourites... I like some more than the others, but I don't really care for them. If I was forced to name one I'd choose Shinji Ikari, I guess... |

I think you should explain it with a little more detail in the topic that there can only be one protagonist (unless there is multiple plots in the show, e.g. Durarara). You can confuse people when you say main protagonist and main female protagonist. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protagonist explains it better. In current English we refer to all the main characters as protagonists, like in Fairy Tail, Wikipedia lists Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza as the protagonists, because they all get focused on. But if you define Natsu's main story to be the core of Fairy Tail then only he is the protagonist of the story. The other characters are supporting him are important characters, but not protagonists. I'm guessing that is what you want from the topic, but there is more than one view on protagonists. Some people may refer to all of the main group as protagonists, so you should properly explain that by protagonist you mean the core character of the main plot. Though if there is more than one plot then there can be more than one protagonist. Anyway, my favourite protagonists are: Male- Sakai, Yuuji (there may some arguments on whether he is the protagonist, but the story did start from his point of view) Female- Mogami, Kyouko |
