5/10 going into 4/10. Bombarded with 10+ characters in this one single episode, that backstory or background might as well be nothing, useless. Then you have more and more plots going into all kinds of directions with an ending to this ep like an adventure is going to start when you already started it last season, just immature and childish design... not really fun to watch, to be honest. I even think 5/10 is being too generous :/

I don't remember much from S3 and don't have time to rewatch it, all I recall is they raised the egg and it became a dragon.

Good to see the dragon actually getting used this season even if it's just as a flying taxi / mount.

Fittoria is so cute, the spear hero is off derping to win her approval.

Is that the person we love to hate, Malty (that B' word) telling the rule of Q'ten Lo that Raphtalia and the shield hero won't make it there alive??

And now we have Siltvelt shenanigans. Pretty sure he doesn't want to be king to inherit a mess of a kingdom where everyone is fighting for power.

Naofumi getting distracted once again and forgetting that his primary goal is to stop the phoenix right now, not getting wrapped up in meaningless political affairs. He still has to deal with the Raphtalia being assassination situation but I feel like his doing it in the worse possible way.

13-16 is crazy, and the pacing is very good so far wtf are you saying. as a novel reader there wasn't any important information that was omitted in the first episode

the anime will at most go to 15, and from the opening it only shows books 13-14

@hypexleaks It's comments like this that make me angry, "why is he doing this?" or "this is a side quest." Pay attention to the story. There was a literal summary at the beginning of this first episode, and even so, some people don't understand.
The Phoenix will be born in two months, and until then, we'll see Naofumi preparing for the fight. On the other hand, it's understandable that, at first, Naofumi was fighting to return to his world. Then, he's fighting to save the world Raphtalia lives in. Now, at the end of Season 1, there's a difference from the Light Novel, in the anime Naofumi accepts staying in that world, while in the novel, he's only doing all this to return to his world and for his companions.
(To summarize the story, Naofumi is preparing for the fight against the Phoenix so that the waves return, so that he can return to his world/to save the world he lives in.)

I love from the eps:
-Motoyasu getting screentime when he only briefly said it in the LN
-Raph-chan making faces
-Fohl being a mild big brother
-Animating the Siltvelt past SH rumor from s1
-All the big races of Siltvelt!

What I don't like:
-Status was so hard to see
-Skipping Hengen Musou and Ki explanation once again
-Granny was missing since first defeating Spirit Tortoise in the anime
-Curse effect not explained
-Cal Mira not Carmina (offi translation) clearly was done not by someone well dwelled in the series
-It's Valnar god fkn damnit. Even dubber botched Werner and spelled Verner(Offi Translation)

My expectations for this season aren't spectacular, considering how much of a disappointment season 2 was, and how much filler and side quests were in season 3. Frankly, I'm just happy that we're following the OG party again.
The stage set in the political scene of Siltvet already seems like another side quest kinda arc, which while could have some interesting character moments for Naofumi being thrust into a position of political power, just doesn't seem very appealing compared to the immediate dangers that the waves of calamity showed us before. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't want this season to become one of those rewatch-every-prior-episode-to-understand-what's-happening seasons that becomes more of a chore to watch than something I'd enjoy.
Otherwise, animation still looks great, stage is set for the phoenix fight, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Hope the studio delivers

They even bothered with the small recap about why they go to Qten Len!

@TrashWaifuHater Maybe your personal and biased resentment or maybe your hatred for trashy waifus is preventing you from watching the entire anime "scene after scene", what a dramatic way of putting it lol.
If I had to highlight one scene that represents movement, I would say it's Raph-chan's beautiful and fluffy tail that never stops moving.

I really dont want to hype things, but narrative wise, the climax should be more emotional if handled properly, with the quality of S3, I was gonna say more, but then that would give too many hints away, just watch and expect a better climax than anything S2-S3.

The movement of the character "naofumi" and the cape are very good, especially the realism of the cape is something that I admire and based on pv 2 there will be more scenes that will value the movement of the cape. The second highlight was the transition from the scene during the defense to the ricochet of the attack. The scene is dynamic without cuts and conveys the feeling of weight of the attack very well.

excellent character movement and fight choreography, a scene that moves too much for a fight that doesn't have much importance, it's worth highlighting the 2D background, which makes the camera rotation scenes even more impressive.

It wasn't as bad as I expected, in fact, it was better than I expected.

My expectations for this anime were already very low because the previous season 3 was a complete mess, so I didn't expect anything from it. But apparently, they adapted this first episode well. The visuals are good, the sparring animation is also good, and the camerawork when Naofumi counters Melty's attack is also good.

However, I don't think we'll get any action anytime soon, as the story seems to be heading more politically than action-oriented. But I could be wrong, as I haven't followed the manga in a while. I can say this is a pretty solid first episode for an anime that I once dropped due to disappointment with the production quality.

Another S4 of the season. I barely remember anything of note, but I do remember the three stooges finally joining the main gang, of which I still can't like the spear dude. This arc is shaping up to be politics-heavy, but I doubt they're gonna deliver.

On a more positive note, it looks way better than the previous seasons.

we're so back! And a solid first episode, felt like an exact continuation of the last season, even in art style, which is pretty great. Gotta say, these demi humans are certainly an interesting bunch, I think there's something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about, and I don't think it'll be pretty. But I guess only time will tell.

Well, overall, I think this season had a good start.
But I have to stay it's also starting with stuff that wasn't really consolidated from the past seasons.

First of all, I wasn't expecting to have a arc before the Q'ten Lo one. Also, from what I remember, Silvelt was only properly introduced in season 3 (which I just watched), and they certainly didn't give this kind of attention to the Shield Hero, yes, people there treated him highly, but it was said to be due to what he did to the Demi-humans in his country, and certainly not a generational thing, like they are implying here. So I fee like this plot has a shaky start because of that, since this information is coming a bit from nowhere.

Other than that, the animation seems quite good, the training between Fohl and Atla looked great. Also, so Filo is going with them, after last season I thought she would just stay behind.

I'm curious how the story will go from now, but having the story move on with a reduced character pool for the main party seems like a great idea, since we really need to explore more the characters of this anime, we're already at the 4th season. I suppose we are getting something from the Tiger siblings this time.

I didn't really vibe with the opening that much, it might grow on me, but it's certainly a downgrade from the opening of the 3rd season (even in artstyle), and so far, it has been the most disappointing aspect of this season.

The OP is okay, with the color scheme applied consistently throughout.
Finally, this dragon Gaelion actually serves a purpose,it looks like a means of transportation, similar to Filo.
The journey might get longer with all these obstacles, so why didn’t they just continue the path with the dragon after all? (they are too RP)

I'm glad one of my favorite series gets to have a 4th season!

Atla, best girl though for this episode.

Spear Hero... is actually hunting the fools who dared to harm them.

Shield Hero's Castle is quite a pain in the a**.

OP could've been better. If I rated the OP's of different seasons, S1 is still the best, then S3, S2, then this 4th season—in terms of lyrics, and the animation was nice for a change...

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.
