I didn't expect Rin to come up with such philosophical reflections. She really makes me want to go solo camping, but for the first time, she also made me feel a bit bad for her. I never thought she actually felt lonely.
It's a very good thing to see she is opening up much more than she used to. And while clearly a bit awkward, she even talked normally to Aya, that's adorable.
Speaking of Aya, I can't believe that when Nadeshiko first mentionned her, I thought there would be some jealousy coming. Did I even forget I'm watching Yuru Camp ? She seems to be a very sweet girl actually, I hope we'll see her again, she adds a very good dynamic within the cast.
And finally, Rin going Tex Avery mode when realizing how expensive the eels are made me laugh out loud, that was seriously hilarious.

Another lovely episode!

Damn that eel cutting animation was so good. It was so clean and detailed. But now I'm craving for Japanese eel dishes...

I like Aya-chan! She's cute, and her tone is so chill.

Yeah, right, because once you lose your weight you never gain it back even if you are eating like Nadeshiko. This totally has sense.

Didn't know I needed it until I saw those chubby Nadeshiko pictures, seeing her eat really creates a happy feeling.

The soundtrack from the beginning of the episode reminded me so strongly of Sailor Moon soundtrack!

Trying to recruit Ayano for camping as well, hm?.. ;P Well, just joking, of course..
Camping is a good way to think about being by your own?.. Hm.. Interesting.. And Rin likes it, she says.. Interesting..

Another just super enjoyable episode. This show gives me serotonin.

Welp, Aya is adorable.

Chubby Nadeshiko and everyone pulling on her cheeks, so cute.

I quite liked that "a way to appreciate loneliness."

And yeah Grandpa's right here in flesh.

Rin's Shizuoka comfy adventure continues.
Those unagi look super tasteful. Hamamatsu is famous for unagi(eel) which is quite expensive, as well as the Unagi pie also be one of the most famous souvenirs too. Rin's reaction when knowing the price of unagi don is very hilarious.
Nadeshiko rides the bike around Lake Hamana every day, no wonder why she got a lot of stamina.
Cant' wait to see Aya join the camping crew.

Finally, some plot and character info.

Was about to drop the show after the first two episodes were just exactly the same beats: goes to camp site, shows some vistas, eats (always tasty af), makes the same facial expression to show how tasty the food is, goes to next camp, repeat.

I get that the show is basically a Japan tourism ad, but come on, add more substance to it.

happy New Year!

That eel looked delicious, it made me want to eat it with rice.

Nadeshiko was so cute and round when she was younger. I liked the adventure at night.

This anime is such a visual treat with real places and attractions. The eel dish is just as remembered it when passing thru Hamamatsu and Lake Hamana. Ahh time to go back to Japan again.

I've never had eel, but I feel like even if I knew what it tasted like and enjoyed it, I wouldn't wanna pay that much for it. ^^'

Anyway, I liked the episode, although I didn't think there was as much substance in it as the first two of the season.

What a lovely episode, some fun things happen, plus a new character.

Watching Rin lose her eyes at the price of the eel was just hilarious. I would too if I was in that position, 4000 yen is a lot of money for a meal.

Also, Rin was reading a book about secret societies at the beach. Hmm...

First time in this series I felt so uncomfortable. Very antithetical to the series being genuinly cute and relaxing.

-Fatphobia isn't cute or funny. Calling your overweight relative a 'pig' or other animal is straight up dehumanization and forcing them to exercise is going to result in strained relationship rather than anything, and not only that doing that to a growing child, I were in simillar situation and it actually traumatized me and I gained all the weight back in a second the moment I wasn't forcing myself to stay on a diet. Also would't having a chubby protagonist in a fall-winter camping oriented setting actually make sense? Not only you are more cold-resistand but you also are stronger for carrying the equipment and whatanot. But instead you have a group of girls with an exact same body type except one which has big boobs pasted on her which is veeery realistic for japanese high schooler, and not indicating of a serious social issue japan has, no sir...

-That graphic eel butchering scene was unnesesary but I guess if at least some people see how their meat is starting as to end on a plate it maybe ends up. But as a non-meat eater I really didn't want/need to see it.

So yeah, I don't think I want to stop watching because those are really nothing new for someone who watched anime for a long time unfortunately, but I hoped for some sort of new-quality. I'll deduct some points for sure for that episode...

@MissSandy8 I came here to see if anyone talked about the fatphobia and I'm glad you did. It's a real shame. I didn't expect this show to have it but I'm also not surprised because it's Japan where being skinny is the expected female body type. I agree with you on all points. Poor Nadeshiko. It was so unnecessary to have that scene, idk why they had to include it. They could've at least had everyone around the kotatsu agree that what her sister said was wrong but nope, they acted like it was perfectly acceptable. I'm sorry to hear you went through something similar, that's awful. I can imagine that sort of treatment, especially when young, can result in issues with body image and a complicated relationship with food, perhaps disordered eating too.

It seems like Nadeshiko went back to eating the same amount anyway and yet she's conveniently still as skinny as everyone else. It does make sense for her to be chubby and I wish she was kept chubby. She could still be athletic while being chubby. Chubby main characters are so rare in anime and this would've been the perfect show for it. Japan is behind the times when it comes to social acceptance of anyone outside of the norm but that's East Asia in general and again, not surprising given their collectivist culture. I also noted Ayano telling Nadeshiko not to eat late because it'll make her gain weight :/

I'm not dropping the show because of it either but I hope there's no more fatphobia. Seeing Nadeshiko's blissful face and excitement when eating was so cute. I hope it's not ruined now because I'll just be reminded of what she went through
