| Cunes gonna cune Second feature episode for Ruby (the blonde space fishing girl) this week, I hoped she'd redeem herself after that bad first one, but... not really. It was better, but she mainly just inconvenienced that entire town during their festival because of her carelessness. Miyazaki famously said that anime creators spend too much time watching anime and not enough in real life, well, in this case it felt like a real life dumb kid annoyance rather than an endearing foible by a denizen of cute anime land (of course there are other elements in the show that don't belong in cute anime land, though they've been less present lately). Gray/mauve/green girls' trilogy of feature episodes may remain the best part of the show, I enjoyed them, even the annoying MC + annoying perfectionist episode last week was alright. Also this week Conception finally got to the researcher with the gray hair / red glasses and it was even better than I expected... | I reiterate my point from November 25 regarding anima yell - the show really took off once Kotecchan joined the club and it's been constantly great now with the whole cast. A season 2 with the whole cast is probably *starting* in AOTY territory and not just because of the promise of uki's navel next week when I put together my "favorite kirara casts" list these girls are gonna end up pretty high |

late comment, but Kohane actually said that she would become a 悪の幹部ピヨまじん 悪 means evil 幹部 means leader, executive staff ピヨ is just a mimetic word for sound made by little birds まじん means devil, evil spirit so in this context, it literally means something along the lines of an evil (club) leader of the devil tweet tweet why "evil leader"? when she let Hizume free to spend time with other girls in her class, she was being a "good" leader. Kohane suggests becoming an evil leader instead, so that she can spend time with Hizume all by herself (if that makes sense?), as shown by the bird holding Hizume. the choice in words might also have to do with being called an "enemy" by all the Hizume fangirls. of course, she wasnt serious, as reflected by the mimetic bird chirps in her sentence. |

| Last 2 seasons I've watched <20 after watching >20 for over a year and I have to say damn it's refreshing. For this current season I picked up Zombieland, Beelzebub, and Gridman about 3-5 weeks after they started airing. Gonna probably do the same next season. Skip a lot of stuff that looks iffy and if it turns out to be good I can just pick it up later and I don't really miss much. |
| on the other hand I am only watching 1/9 of the most popular shows this season (based on # of MAL members) so the strategy only works if you are fine with avoiding popular stuff. If you want to watch all the popular stuff and all the cute girls stuff then I'm afraid ur screwed because those 2 categories only rarely overlap. |
| Yeah, I've been struggling this season and I need to be More Aggressive next season too. This season there was a lot of stuff I just couldn't avoid. I don't regret anything: Slime: I enjoy these feel-good isekai and this one's 2 cour, perfect since I had been frustrated with them not getting more than one. Space Fishing: committed to the concept too hard from early on to drop it. Good sometimes... I haven't started today's episode yet :P UzaMaid and Bloom Into You wouldn't be worth watching without the simulwatch. Irozuku Sekai: started this because I'd just subscribed to Amazon Prime, and I'd been kinda interested in it anyway... it remains just alright. Senran Kagura Shinovi Master and Conception are fun trash most of the time. Both I got into because of the Best Friends making fun of the games. Senran Kagura season 1 was actually pretty hype, this one is just ridiculous. Jojo should overtake later on, if still considered a "fall show" at that point. Release the Spyce seems to be living up to expectations. The popular one I'd rather not watch next season is Shield Hero, based on... everything I've read about it. I want to hear Kevin Penkin's score though. Maybe I'll skip through for it. |
