Goalkeeper is the only position where age isn't a huge negative factor.
It's more like a positive one actually. See Buffon for example.

The summer break is the worst thing that can happen to football fans. But if I had to name something positive about it, it would be the fact that your anticipation for the first game of your club gets stronger and stronger with each passing day.

Now what do I expect to see next season? The EPL not embarrassing itself again on the European stage.

I was really hoping Slovenia would win. Anybody else think they have a really nice strip?
Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... and my arm... even my fingers. The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you? I'm gonna make them give back our past."

Shrek just needs two more goals to become England all-time top scorer and his next opponent is San Marino. Looks like it's all fixed next match.

I'd take him based on the fact that he's called jazz alone tbh. I mean it's no alireza jahanbakhsh but still pretty good.

Good squad player for us that, bar a few fuck-ups (such as failing to clear against Spurs), has done the job when called upon. Can play either full back or even midfield (he started as a mid and was then converted to right back). He needs to work on his attacking side, he's a little too reluctant to push-up for my liking, but defensively he's solid. Put in a great ball for Gomis' goal against City. Apparently he was immense against Belgium (trust me to miss one of our most important games in our history...), but I feel he's a Championship/lower-table Prem player. How he would fare with a run of games and if he played in the same position (we switched him between left and right depending on who was available) I don't know.

As for whether he's better than Whittaker, that depends on what you look for in a full back. Whittaker is more of an attacking threat, but Richards is less of a liability at the back. He's certainly better than the £500k we accepted from Fulham though, I can say that much.

My boy Matias Vuoso shutting mouths. Lots of Mexico fans hate the guy because he's a crappy player, or at least had a bad stint with the NT back in the 2010 WC Qualifiers.

So I was right, Becchio did end up back in Argentina. Club Atletico Belgrano. Best of luck, Luch. I will always remember that assist for Howson in the West Brom game that ensured our safety a few years ago.

Thanks. Sounds like something we could use, especially at that price. Being a bit more defensive minded isn't too bad when he'd be playing behind a youngster who is not great defensively in Redmond [reminds me of Huckerby and Drury]. Versatility would be useful too as our cover left back is untested at Champs level, let alone the premier league.

I just want some transfers to happen. Rumours are that Mulumbu will be announced tomorrow, so there's that.

He should excel at Chelsea, Mourinho generally knows how to get players performing to their best and since Falcao is similar in style to Costa (just a lot less angry) he should do well. Pretty much spells the end for Remys short lived Chelsea careerthough. No idea why they went for him.

Also looks like it's official, Forlan is leaving after this weekends match. I know it's not entirely his fault but he has been a disappointment for this season and a half. Credit where credit is due though, he stuck with us to the summer to try and help us get promoted back to J-League 1.

No special fixtures for us right off the bat really, our last 5 games look to be quite kind (aside from Brentford if they have a season like last season).

We always seem to get Brighton at home on Tuesday nights, bet they love us and the million mile round trip.

Signing him after Ayew would be one hell of a come down. It would be like signing Gylfi Sigurdsson one minute and Marvin Emnes the next.

I spat my Pepsi out reading that, lol. In fairness to Emnes he doesn't complain about lack of game time and when he does play he usually ends up winning us a penalty. Hope the link to Babel is just paper talk though.

None of the rumours around here seem to have any substance. Which will mean we have some pleasant surprises when things actually happen, I suppose.

https://uk.linkedin.com/pub/lee-darnbrough/17/799/b82

Apparently this is the guy we're getting as our head of recruitment. Seems to have played an important role in West Brom's recent history and then helped build a cheap promotion winning side at Burnley. He would have been involved in getting Mulumbu to West Brom so that would make 3 links to us including Dorrans and Dean Kiely. His history with statistics and analysis might indicate we're going to be doing what Brentford are doing. Moneyball style recruitment.
