During this shit economy there also follows a drop in creativity. I suppose it has to do with playing safe in order to keep a steady salary.
Why does Slice of Life have to mean less creativity?
Slice of Life is somewhere in between. At times in can be good and creative, but sometimes it also has plain stuff mixed in as well.
Action and Mystery anime are just as bad.
Action anime substitutes super powers and fight sequences for story progression, and mystery anime usually has no story progression.
Take for example Shinsekai Yori, which has no real plot, just a linear story to keep the pace moving between reveals, all of which are inconsequential to the plot.
Well to be exact almost every single thing in all forms of media has a lost in creativity.
I can agree with this.
But good Rom/Coms still exist and don't suck. Its subjective and relevant to personal taste.
I personally find the drama of human relationships more interesting than Superheroes (edit: Ninjas) fighting each other for control of (insert name of village).
Well I find romances getting stale since it's usually "Guy meets several girls and most of them seem to have a mental/physical problem and/or a tragic back story and it's up to the protagonist to help her/them get over it." I think this format started growing since Key started it.
Oh I see.
And "Young MC has super power he doesn't understand and is a (historically popular figure such as pirate, vampire, ninja, or demon) who must team up with a group of significantly stronger friends to protect his (historically popular location such as a Village, Town, or landmark from Feudal history) from a (historically popular monster or villain, such as vampires, werewolves, demons, rapists, aliens, giants) and learn about being an adult along the way, is totally breaking the mold.
We need more anime like that, and less slice of life.
I hardly even watch any shounen. I prefer plots like Mushishi, Higashi no Eden, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop etc than anime that says a lot about "Friends give me strength" or "Love always prevails" or "Believe in yourself and you will succeed" (this one especially is a load of crap) because it's all boring.
