Is there any anime series that won't get dubbed and just remain subbed. Or maybe they'll get dubbed but later in years.

I doubt shows like Gintama or Beelzebub will get dubbed mainly for it's Japanese-esque humor, upon many many others.

i wouldn't think stuff like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Bakemonogatari, or Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei will be dubbed. i dont think they would work well dubbed at all and i am perfectly fine with them not ever being dubbed.

I wouldn't really say it's a shame. I don't think any of the English liscensors could make Gintama work. -shrug-

I was pretty sure both, Gintama and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, had been licensed by Sentai Entertainment. If that's the case, isn't there at least a microscopic chance of them being dubbed?

On the other hand, I doubt they'll ever dub the really old ones that haven't been dubbed already (LotGH comes to mind)...

Probably well over 70-80% of all anime I'd wager.
But most of the time, I'd rather keep it that way. Dubbing is a complete waste of time and money, much better to just sub it and ship it out quickly and cheaply.

Yeah, let's hope this doesn't get dubbed since it would just sound terrible. With the Japanese voices it sounds hot, English wouldn't.

I can't imagine HOW they'd dub Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, at least for an English speaking audience. For one thing, all of the character's names are Japanese puns. And it deals almost entirely with Japanese society. I think we're better off with Subs.

This. I'd buy so much more anime on DVD if it was cheaper and didn't make you waste time (admittedly tiny amounts of time) going into the DVD menu to change the language back to Japanese.

Shinryaku Ika Musume will probably never happen. Way too many awful puns to try and translate sensibly (literally translating everything would probably sound horrible, but the puns would be difficult to translate and keep in context).

Ehhhh it's not a complete waste of time and money, some people don't want to watch stuff in Japanese and want to listen to something in their native language because it's easier to understand, or they can't read subs for various reasons etc...however this post is not 'sub v dub' so I'll stop there.

But if you really want subbed DVDs then look for multi-language European stuff, a good chunk of it is subtitled audio.

Pmuch. I can't fork over 30-40 bucks every few episodes. Series costing upwards of 200 dollars to own is so beyond not worth it. In dvd quality atleast. The lack of decent animu in blu ray breaks my heart.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes is never going to get dubbed. Hell, it probably won't get licensed in the first place because it's so outdated. The western anime market is more interested in newer anime, since that's where most fan interest lies despite LotGH having a pretty big cult following.

85% of anime in general

I doubt Baby Princess will get dubbed although Sister Princess was localized, I wouldn't mind the OVAs being dubbed though for continuity's sake.

Dubbing is NOT a bad thing. Because the majority of shows will not get dubbed countless kids around the world (who are not able to read english subtitles due to age or coz English is not their native language or they are too lazy to watch shows with subtitles) will be condemned to watch mainstream crap like the big three of shitty cartoons and discover only years later how great anime can be.

Gintama will probably never get a dub. And yes its a shame (providing they had good voice actors & could make the comedy work) cuz all the dub-only watchers will never get to experience this amazing anime.

like 80% of anime out there will never be dubbed since companies don't have enough money to release them all. Also I hate buying subbed-only anime on DVD cause its a waste of money when I can watch it for free illegally or legally online. Only exception I'll make if I know the company will never go back and dub it.

I agree with everyone else on Gintama too many jokes to translate and too much Japanese cultural references that will be hard for people over here to understand so its best if it stays subbed as much I would like it to be dubbed.

real > fake, easy as that.
dubbing (in general), is basically taking a show/series, raping it cause 'your language' ir superior or someting, and it sounds worse 99% of the time.

wtf LoGH hasn't been dubbed? The main reason I haven't watched it is because I figured it would be impossible to find it subbed like most of the other old school stuff.

Agreed, look at how godawful the Azumanga dub is, same reason gintama wouldn't work dubbed.

"Dubbing" is basically taking a show/series and adapting it into another language for a particular audience. People nowadays have an archaic displeasure for the dubbing of anime because of practices used years ago in which storyline material was altered to fit with a demographic that certain licensing studios (and in some cases, at the request of the company that an anime was purchased from) targeted. However, these days companies have long abandoned the altering of format of a show/series they license and remain as close to the "original" as they're allowed to, if needed.

Shin Mazinger Z Impact never got dubbed into English. I never get why since companies always pick up any major title and it was a popular title in 2009. Yet it no one want to pick it up in 2010 or 2011.

Gintama and the Monogatari Series (and bunch of others) won't get dubbed because there way to japanese. Engrish doesn't work in reverse and certain word humour is language specific. The K-On movie (when you say, "from now on were only speaking english, no japanese!" in english good voice actors don't make sound any less odd) and the second episode of Inoubato are examples why dubs for certain shows is awkward.

Anything very Japanese like Saki, Yama no Susume, Chihayafuru, and Joshiraku can't be dubbed. A bit less than half of the anime on my list have dubs so generally any anime that isn't too popular usually won't get a dub. If an anime is over 10 years old and doesn't currently have a dub then there is close to a 0% chance it will get a dub.
