Is Oguri not allowed to race in the Classics ever again? That’s not clear. Because she could just race in them next year.

Not sure where everyone else watched this at, but they translated Oguri saying charisma as “rizz” right before Sensuke showed up, I guess it still gets the point across but that is quite the creative liberty lol, but I do like the idea of Oguri saying rizz, she totally would try and be hip like that.

But like others said, nice to have more of an SoL episode to start out this arc because I’m sure it won’t take long for the intensity to kick back in. The race near the start showed just how epic Tamamo Cross is, she isn’t unlike Oguri with her ability to just shoot out in front of the pack leader and steal the win, I feel a bit sorry for Akitsu Teio (is she related to Tokai Teio? If so then very cool) but that’s horse racing for you, and now Oguri has a new goal to chase even if she can no longer race in the “best” races. But Fujimasa March put it best, Oguri simply needs to make every race the best race, I really like this line, the whole phone call was a really good moment in general, March getting emotional and Oguri helping her out, and then March returning the favor by helping Oguri, not to mention Norn, Mini and Rudy hogging the phone once they heard it was Oguri lol, they’re far away now but still have a big impact her.

And the second half of the episode was a real good time, lots of cute bits there with Oguri just downing anything and everything that’s consumable, sticking that whole skewer in her mouth was wild lol. I gotta say Belno has good taste with the Oguri fit check, it wasn’t only a disguise but a good look as well. But even with the mission being to chill out, my boy Sensuke showed up and spilled the tea on the upcoming races, it was at the expense of his date but this isn’t about her lol. It was thanks to Sensuke tho that this next race is looking really hype with some big names showing up, one of them having a striking resemblance and name to Symboli Rudolf, I enjoyed chilling with the horse girls for an episode but it’ll be time to hit the track again next week.

Date episode let's go! (And yes Oguri, that is your rizz at work) I wonder why they went with rizz for the subtitles. It still works, it's just fun to think about the quirks of subtitling.

@TheColonel76 The subs where I watched didn’t have that but they were probably worse overall than the ones you got. In the Japanese audio you could hear that they literally just said “charisma” so I guess “rizz” technically works but it’s not the best way to translate that. I’m definitely not a fan of the gen z / gen alpha or whatever the heck you call it translations but it probably did the job better than the awful mess the subs I got were so whatever.

@MewsicMagic Damn, yours were that bad huh? Hopefully you can find better subs, because besides rizz I don’t really ever have much issue with the subs I usually watch from. And I get you on the newer generation slang, I liked it in Nagatoro when she said sus but idk rizz is a bit much here lol, I can only forgive it because Norn would realistically say that and I like the idea of Oguri repeating it.

@TheColonel76 Yeah they were that bad, I was honestly in shock of how poor they were. The dialogue would appear maybe 3 seconds after or before a character speaks most of the time. Or even just be missing sometimes or have obvious mistranslations and misspellings and if they were any worse I almost would’ve just not watched it and “sourced” it from somewhere else (if you get the meaning). I get that sometimes things slip through QA but even as far as to have oguri be misspelled as ojuri is something else. I think there was even a point where the subs for one piece of dialogue were Spanish ones on the English subtitle track for some reason. If I didn’t want to wait for release later I think I’d probably just skip the streaming and buy it on blu ray. Anime availability on blu ray in NA is a little hit or miss tho sometimes things just are only available in Japan for non streaming releases.

@MewsicMagic Very true, I’m still waiting for certain shows to appear on Bluray in NA lol. And yeah that sounds like very bad subs, I recommend trying another site because I’ve never had it that bad.

I love how happy Oguri was when March called, she finally hears from an old friend.

Goodness, Tamamo Cross has so much muscles.

I love the eating montage, she ate so much food that were just 4-5x more than what Belno got.
Poor Fuji though, his interest in Oguri made him completely lose out on his date and also got called a creep.

Anyways this was a fun episode, less on the serious side, but we get back to that next episode.
