Tbh, I'm starting to like this Tsubaki person. They don't seem bad and they're building a good relationship with Sakura and his friends.

Looks like this episode is more about character connection and chemistry. Feels very different from the first few episodes where it was about rivalries, fighting, and pride. Sakura was hilarious in this.

This show man.. this fucking show. Genuinely one of the most beautiful arcs I’ve ever seen. I’ve totally forgotten this was a show about delinquents because the last month of episodes have just been so healthy.

First of all, I love the idea of the boys helping out at the Ito residence! It’s so sweet that the boys just do positive shit around the community and really make a difference with community service.

“I’ve always loved cute and pretty things” I need a collab between Tsubakino and Makoto from Painoko soo bad so many parallels in their character, except the windbreaker world seems waaay more accepting of Tsubaki than Makoto. Both are two people who struggled to conform to gender norms and having to hide who they were and conforming to societal norms.

Being “normal” is so overrated and I teared up watching Yuji and Mr. Ito explain how gender norms like clothing and makeup have evolved over time. We look at that as something for girls to do now, but back in the day there were guys wearing heels and lipstick. All of that stuff changes so much, just be true to yourself! There’s a powerful lesson in that for all of us.

The ending got me emotional again though because just as Ito and Yuji helped Tsubaki be true to himself and dress the way he wanted to, Tsubaki helped Ito finally realize how his wife felt. I hate that it had to be in death, but at least she can rest peacefully knowing her feelings have finally truly been conveyed

Amazing episode, so much stuff challenging traditional social norms and traditional relationships. Ito and Yuji’s love story is different from most, but it worked for them and that’s all that matters. That’s the theme of this episode, do what works for you!!

P.S Sakura being a massive Tsubaki/Ume shipper is sooo cute lol my MC is such an understanding king.

So the episode continues with Tsubakino and Sakura on a date—well, it would have been if Suou and Nirei weren’t tagging along. The episode centers around an old man, Ito, and the backstory of Tsubakino, highlighting the kindness the couple showed him and how they supported him in what he loves.

The old man's love for his deceased wife and the doubts about whether she was truly happy with him begin to weigh on him after her passing, leaving him alone. But with Sakura’s sharp sense for detecting romance and Suou’s keen observation skills, we learn the truth about her unspoken feelings.

The episode was really good, even if it felt like a filler. If my instincts are right, we’re about to move into the next phase of the show where trouble starts to take root.

Oh it's nice to see Bofurin helping the town in various ways, I thought they can only offer physical defense, but they can provide emotional support as well.

With that said, I think that grandpa's symptom is closer to Alzheimer than depression, no? It's hard to tell because it's in very early stage.

This is Tsubaki episode, but I'm not sure how to feel when the messages are "it's not wrong to love cute things" and "it's not wrong to crossdress" and somehow skip over "it's not wrong to be gay", it's not like this anime's trying to hide Tsubaki's orientation as it's very clear that he's in love with Umemiya. But let's look in an optimistic way and assume that this anime will explore Tsubaki more in the future (including his relationship with Umemiya) and this episode is just a teaser of what's to come.

Man. Are we sure this is still WB? Geez. Didn't expect this sort of emotional depth. Trust the elderly, who've seen everything and experienced a lot, to be accepting and non-judgmental and kind.

... I miss my grandparents. πŸ˜”

And trust Suou to know flower language, I swear I'm not even surprised.

What a heartwarming couple who first accepted Tsubakino... it's so sad that the wife died though :( but still great to see that Tsubakino still takes care of the old man

4 episodes without a fight. You're an action show, please do the thing you're good at.

Its character drama, worldbuilding and slice-of-life stuff is all pretty basic, I don't understand why they've put the main feature on pause for so long to just meander like this...

Talk about a wave of emotions. We got not one but two big tearjerker scenes this episode. Tsubaki taking the trio on their date turns out to actually be going to see her friend Ito. He was a very nice old man, sweet old timers like him in anime always warm my heart. The connection between Tsubaki and Ito was very sweet too. Upon learning Tsubaki's backstory I feel so much more for him. Seeing his elementary school days and how he felt so different from everyone. How much Tsubaki struggled with coming to terms with the interests he had. Liking more so called girl things or cute things instead of traditional boy things. Constantly lying to friends and family about what he likes just to fit in. A real turning point meeting Ito and Yui that day. His interests of liking cite accessories made that happen since the earring caught his eye. They really took Tsubaki in and made him feel normal for the first time. Indulging his interests in makeup and fashion instead of snuffing it out. The moment where Tsubaki breaks down about not feeling normal really had me bawling. That poor sweet kid, I'm so glad he found people to be himself around.

Which makes Tsubaki coming to see Ito even more heartwarming because he's paying back that kindness now that Ito needs it. Since the passing of Yui, not feeling great would be an understatement. Hearing the end where Ito was never even sure if Yui loved him all those years brought it all together with his feelings. I'm so glad Tsubaki brought everyone to see him and help around the house. Learning why Ito had all that amazing fashion was really cool. A great chill episode.

This was SO out of left field. I would have never expected such a layered and emotionally complex episode from this show. It felt like a culmination of seeds that had been planted from the earlier episodes this season and last season too. My mind is blown. So surprised by how good it was. I now see this show in a completely new light.

thanks I'm crying T-T omg such a great episode, I love this chaper in the manga and they did so well animating it! and to everyone I see complaining if you don't like don't watch! Simple as that! It's been in the manga for a long while so get over it or drop the show. Tsubaki-chan is to me one of the best written characters in the whole show so shove off with your transphobic, sexist nonsense.

really, after the first season, episode 6 is a disappointment. the introduction of this character makes no sense and the author-induced abuse that the high school kids are subjected to throughout is nauseating. this is gang fiction set in a high school and there's no point in looking for sense in it, but making young children revolve around such nonsense is not doing “something different”. i would like to be able to give this episode a score of 0. i'll be patient for a few more episodes to see if the process changes, but i'm very disappointed.

I don't really understand the author's intentions behind this arc in such a straightforward all-male fighting manga like this, but at least it was pretty well written. Interestingly, despite his personality, Tsubaki seems to be the tallest and largest of the boys in their school. Is it just biology or is it part of his strength as one of the school's top fighters?

@Marinate1016 He doesn't support them as a couple in general, he supports Tsubaki's feelings and recognizes their sincerity and purity through his "romantic radar" or whatever it is. It would be a different matter if their feelings for each other were mutual and Sakura could sense it from both sides.

@GersonSalas Russian is a very gendered language and I specifically checked this. Whatever the translators' intentions, Tsubaki uses female pronouns in the Russian version, even though this episode is built around the fact that his character arc is based on him being afraid of being judged as a boy with girly interests. It's confusing.

@atbrightstories The purpose of this arc is to explore Tsubaki's past and show what experiences, people, and ideas have shaped him. Although it does not touch on his sexuality. This may conflict with the overall JoJo-like format of the story, but overall it makes a pretty intuitive meaning.

That was a beautiful episode and allowed us more incite into the characters. The old couple super sweet and accepting. Wish more people were like that. Don't worry guys there is physical fighting in this but sometimes a fight can be mental and internal as well.

Um.. not much going on.. it's a nice change of pace from all the fighting I suppose. A bit of backstory of Tasuku, and Sakura continue acting shy and embarrassed whenever he can "feel" the love in the air lol

I really like how this show just made Sakura a guy who is really good at fighting, but really bad at socializing so the show constantly puts him now in a position when he's just a Tsundere. This feels really fresh in contrast to other shonen shows that start with a lame MC that get's more confident later on. Tbh so far i like this season a lot more then first one, at least in terms of writing

What a beautifully done episode. I didn't expect such wholesomeness in a delinquent anime, but it's been wholesome since the beginning, and even more so these past few weeks. This is the sweetest shit ever and I love it. That moment when Yui-san was saying how our gender is only a small part of who you are really resonated with me, because it really is a small part that people have made into a huge deal.

I got emotional when Tsubakino said " How could someone who taught me to love myself be with someone she didn't love" T^T, cause that's soo true. Man I love everyone so far. Such sweeties. Tsubakino is definitely one of my favorites so far. We're getting good characterization on them.

Cute episode! Even though there's no fighting in this one, I still think it fits right in. The show spends it's entire time exploring the characters' feelings and backstories either way. I think it's a good change of pace to have an episode without fighting for once.

This being an anime forum, I'm not surprised to see bigots here calling this "woke propaganda" and whatever the fuck else these people usually say. Disappointing and worrying times we're in.

literally the whole point of the school and their gang is to help others and to accept and welcome them lmao how are ppl mad that thats exactly what the anime is showing πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ bullying from appearances is also the reason sakura got so insecure and pushed people away

I like how this series really dives into it's characters and how they grow and develop. It's refreshing to see a gang-fighting-type anime who's focus isnt entirely just on fights and discourages toxic masculinity

with that being said, I can't wait to see more of Tsubaki-chan πŸ‘Œ

Ok wasn't expecting a beautiful romance story of an old couple, that was sweet and heartwarming. It's a privilege to grow old with the person you love. The post credit short made me realise something. It'd be very much obvious when Sakura falls in love or notices her feelings for him. Sakura x Kotoha chan please!

I'm loving watching all of the anime-only viewers learning that the series isn't just a typical shounen. I know I must've looked ridiculous trying to explain that the series' focus is mental health and healing from past trauma when the first season was a little more straightforward but we're finally getting into it!

To anyone upset by this: it will continue. The series is literally a bunch of events that are specifically designed to help Sakura heal and move on from his emotionally stunted mindset. Sometimes he learns the lesson directly, but most often he's observing someone else learn one of the lessons he needs. There will be more fights, but they are not going to gloss over the parts where they break things down. If you don't want to watch that, take this as your warning now so we don't have to hear you complain about it later. There's plenty of other shounen out there that are just action-packed battles if you don't want to watch an emotionally charged series.

Holy shit, this entire episode was absolutely beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes multiple times. Never thought I would cry over a show I had rated as a 3 going in, lol. I wish the entire show was like this. Tsubakino trying to save this entire series for me. I'm just going to conservatively bump the score up a single spot, but if they keep featuring Tsubakino and throw in some more of these emotional stories that have nothing to do with teens punching each other, my score is going to climb. 10/10 episode for a show I really don't like. Never thought I would see the day. I guess if you watch enough anime anything can happen. :P
