wait... this episode is the final episode??! 0.o It didn't feel like that at all. 🤣
btw, this is a cooking anime where the MC has a dream of creating his own sweets kingdom but we've seen battle scenes more than actual baking scenes from Pastry.

With Squale saved by Pastry and the Morteln family, he is fine and all, and the Lutoroute army withdraws. But the experience as a first-timer on the battlefield has traumatized him, and to alleviate his fear, Pas is given the chance to bake something for him, and just so not to forget, the sweets portion is emphasized more, because there are no more chances of showing the actual plot on screen.

And what that sweet came out to be...is tarte tatin: baked apple pie. The story of failure and success in-between based on the real story of how tarte tatin was created, and Petra is happy enough that Squale came back alive. Although Pas didn't forget about his goats, Casseole resolved the problem by purchasing a pack of horses, an eye for an eye, I guess. What Pas got was an actual juice extractor, and some tailor-made clothes for Licorice, as well as the cheesecake that he can finally make from goat milk.

Guess that this is decent as a stopping point can get, but the anime and its source material, I can best describe it with only one word: MISLEADING. Isekai sells whether good or bad, but not when it's built on white lies, just like this show.

I wish you could mark anime as completed even if the anime hasn't been marked as finished airing yet. Because sometimes it isn't marked as finished in time and you have to wait to mark it completed.

@Crowterrror Looks like the anime runs up through Volume 5 of the manga and there's 8 volumes available in English. So there's a bit more available right now, but not a lot.

And so we end with cheering up Lord Squale and getting the much needed goats and juicer to make more sweets!

I'm feeling a high 5 to low 6/10 out of this one, which is kind of a disappointment since early on I was enjoying it more than that. It had a kind of wheels falling off slide after the initial bandit invasion defense arc and somewhere around then I was left confused by the goings on for a bit. Like they either skipped or poorly explain certain plot points. And while this wasn't a problem by the end there was a huge portion of this show where it felt like what should have been the primary focus, making sweets, was completely forgotten. Like I said that at least did get more priority later on in the story. Lastly, and this is kinda nitpicky admittedly, but some of the character named based off of food were pretty silly. Maybe it would come across better in Japanese or something, I dunno. But Casserole for a name? Really? Anywho, I guess I'll say slightly generous 6/10. I'm not inclined to say I'd watch more if we got it, but maybe if it was during a weak season.

Episode was okay, battle was already finished last eps. This eps could of just been called 'Pas gets goat and makes cheesecake!' There does seem foreshadowing that we might get a second cour after all the fuss about dress buying, but hold hands up the amount of times series ive seen something just a one shot.

Sweet ending for a sweet little anime, very light hearted and warm fuzzy feelings all around. Just wish it focused more on sweets and you know not in the last 3-4 episodes. Didn't care for the political drama that much. Doesn't make it stand out from any other modern isekai, in fact just does the same things as the others. The show it has a cool premise something unique only to copy every other isekai/fantasy and display 95% politics. It would have been fine but the fact is, that the political part is so boring.

Oh well, would I watch it again no never. But for something each week I had to wait for, honestly not that bad. But that could because the competition this season isn't that stiff in my opinion.

Also I wanted to put it in completed but the thing still says its "airing." Bruh come on I just want to file it away now.

Didnt want to write anything but im still pissed off on how they introduced his fiance and stuff the first time like ep5-6 ,we legit got his goofy ass haggling the red haired milf(minus the kids) bish and the next episode without any start up or like any acknowledgment of fiest time we meet these characters they tried to play off the dad and two daughters with the stupid haircut like some characters we have known for many eps its lazy writing….. also only gripe with this episode was ngl just the idea some dude being mentally broken and traumatized gets fixed by eating a piece or cake lmao…tart

I was planing on giving this show's score a point for each time MC cooked but even then it would have been too low, it wasn't bad but not what I signed up for, I just keep watching it each week because of YuNi's ED and Hondo Kaede.

I can't wrap my head around why this is executed surprisingly well, the aristocratic politics, the baking, it just works. Pas might be the most mentally ill protagonist since Keyaru, I struggle to believe this guy is formerly a fully grown adult but honestly it just makes it funnier. It's such a silly and fun show, it's not really anything special but mc curing survivors guilt with upside down apple pie is just so silly and I can't get tired of it. Also the dynamic between Pastry and Casserole is really funny.

This episode was actually pretty cute, I liked the story about tarte Tatin and how it connects with the theme of failure, it was quite an uplifting speech. I wish more episodes had been like this with more focus on baking.

Overall, it felt like a show with some good ideas and characters, but very clumsy writing. While Pas (and his name Pastry in itself) could be a bit annoying, it actually sat right with me that he at least wasn't surrounded by numerous girlfriends but already has a cute fiancé, who he seems to be devoted to, and she actually supports him in his passion for cooking. It could be a nice wholesome show from this point onward.

This season was probably meant to be a prequel for setting up an environment where he could bake more freely, and that's why there was so much focus on building up the mechanics of the world. But still... there had to be moooore desserts, really. Maybe if there's ever a second season it would be better, but I'm not sure this one captured my interest enough to care about what happens next.

They made the ending so great with the ending song but somehow made it with rushed scenes... however, they still made it a great one. A great series overall!

The ending song made the mini-clips more wonderful while I watched them since they're in silent mode.

I do hope they could somehow fix the eyes missing from this series in the Blu-ray, but some of them should still be the same, like the part where Pas father is asking for his help to create a way for his brother-in-law to get his confidence back. Petra and her fiancé are finally sweet again, as well as Licorice and Pas.

...and they lived happily ever after...

P.S. I recommend reading the source LN or Manga, whichever you prefer. They give more info.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Honestly for this studio's first anime it was really well done. Quality was pretty consistent from beginning to end and despite being their first anime with lots of wars and horses and soldiers they didn't use any sort of 3d cgi and stuck to 2d animation. The characters were very nicely designed and appealing and animation wasn't stiff and just one mouth moving either. You can see the studio had a lot of love put into this show. I guess one gripe for me is like most people mentioned if you're coming just to see Pas giving you recipes everyday you're not gonna get much from it but im not expecting Yumeiro Patisserie levels of baking from a medieval set show. Even Bookworm didn't have books every episode. I've been kind of sick of isekais lately but this one is just sweet and wholesome and it's refreshing to see an isekai without the annoying stereotypical nature of harems and ecchi moments you see from the genre. Very well done I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope they make a season 2.

Last half of the final episode was definitely the best of the season.

Also liked the negotiation scenes etc. during the credits at the end.

Maybe could've been nicer if they did more of the baking and vibing throughout the show rather than at the end, and then in a post-credits scene, but still enjoyed the season though 😬

it was ok. i thought there would be a lot more baking and baking education type info. baking and sweets being the primary theme. but it wasn't. it was largely a victorian era(?) isekai with just as much political/military focus as baking. and they threw in magic just for the fun of it

i would probably watch a second season, but i don't expect this will get one

Disgusting way to end the series. Heal battlefield trauma with an apple dessert? Its so stupid it made me mad. I feel sorry for the people who wrote this xD
Wft. I feel sorry for myself how affected i am by the awful ending of this series XXDD Also for a series based on desserts the creativity in desserts are awful. Fudge, lollipop, caramel apple, apple pie and apple tart was all the series had to give over 12 episodes. Sad. The magic part in the series was undeveloped and barely used. Sad again. Just a click bait series. Not worth watching. The only thing that was slightly good was the series was the respect and kindness between the characters in the first episodes

The battle part ended in a bit of a tease last week to be over immediately this week so that's fun. Not a terrible show but I can't say I'll remember it for long either.

I think they should have went with the version of the tarte Tartin origin where the sister nearly burnt the apples and tried to cover them with the dough and quickly bake it to finish. Though i guess they didnt go for that because it would make it sound unappetizing making it sound burnt when it's actually caramelized.

Not a great series, but feel good series but not anywhere as much as some others like it wasnt making me smile very much it's just kinda cute. I never really cared all that much for many of the characters which seems to be it's main weak spot. The humour is enjoyable but not laugh out loud funny in most cases. I would have liked to see more baking but at the same time I do think it's appropriate to include the whole process of where the ingredients comes from because it helps build an appreciation for these things which I think is what this series was meant to create, though it also is just there to create conflict in what otherwise would be a completely mundane story.

Ending felt...kinda unremarkable 😂

I swear this anime doesn't know any fruits outside of apples because of all the sweets made, apples were the only fruits used at all. All other sweets were either the hard caramel candies and the aforementioned goat's milk cheesecake this episode.
It was nice they decided to include a dessert with a message, kinda reminded of the ganache origins which was used in I think Yumeiro Pâtissière, tho when Pas mentioned about "Failure" and everyone else was aw no, he really just said that huh I was like pAS TF YOU DOING 😂😂😂
It was nice seeing Caella all angry again, this time even more angrier her expressions were fun ahahaahah

But yeh honestly the ending just feel so like, meh. I didn't really get much from it aside from the fact they're just continuing on abouts their daily routines and honestly I feel like another episode would've benefited everything.
At least let us see the sugar produced from the sugarcanes and letting that be a possible item of trading to bring in profit as well as the invitation to visit the Hubarek's at the end of summer.
I was honestly thinking that Pas would even bring over a jar of the juiced sugar as a gift as well whilst he was there with Licorice but guess not.

And as well the bad people just left and that's it... And??????? That's it?????????????? For something as major as that causing the war and whatnot they were left stranded pretty anticlimatically and that's it.
They decide to include politics into what I thought was gonna be an anime about a kid making legendary sweets yet even with the politics they don't follow it through to the end concluding it in a satisfactory fashion. But at least it was more tolerable than some of the other animes I've watched with insufferable characters in them.

So most of the episode was wasted trying to cheer up Squael instead of setting up a good ending. Can't say I cared about the guy since he had no role throughout the series and wasn't even a friend of Pas, though the resolution being sweets was very fitting. Was real disappointed they didn't even bother to show Lic's impression of the cheese cake since that was the whole point of this last arc. Wasn't the best finale wrap up.

Overall, was an ok watch, but for a show about sweets they sure spent a lot of time on fighting pointless wars, bandits etc. I think would have been much better if there was a bit more focus on procuring ingredients and making different sweets. Kind of felt like the author didn't know what he was doing.

Not going to win any awards, but it wasn't the worst anime I've seen. I was expecting more sweets and less feudal politics...although I did like the scenes whenever they showed the Countess Leteche, ahem...for obvious reasons. The best thing about this anime was the vibing ED song, absolute banger. The sound of the ED reminds me of "Your Song" by Yun*Chi in the Log Horizon ED.

Well this really was one of those "no need to think too deep" stories even for an isekai one.

It feels kind of lacking though. It could've been better but I guess this all they have to work on in terms of the source LN.

It was pretty decent still, I saw that the story (most probably the LN as well) has a good focus on the actual 'sweet-talking' ways of the MC in terms of politics in the nobility. While he is indeed a prodigious pastry chef in his past and current life, he is also a master of sweet manipulation.
