He wanted to bask in the beauty and glory of the other's body, but he knew he couldn’t. He had to focus on the dilemma at hand, which George Washington had been pondering about for the past few minutes that the English mathematician had spent staring holes at the older gentlemen. Time travel, yes, how he got there and how his forbidden love began with the first president of the United States. You finish reading the last few sentences of your fanfiction to your class before you grin and look out at the crowd. Everyone is dead. Literally. You have been the only survivor of a deadly nuclear attack that wiped out all of humanity. Except for you, of course. What a cruel and lonely world this is. At least you get to write fanfictions and read it to corpses.

A girl dressed in a cute outfit stumbles up to the cash register. From the look of her convention badge, you assume she’s in costume. That probably means that she’s a nerd. She apologizes and looks over the café’s menu. When she asks what’s a good Frappuccino, you answer with the least desirable drink on the list. After receiving her frap and tasting it, she asks if she can switch for something else. You can either
a.) Tell her no
b.) Go ahead and switch it. That was pretty harsh of you in the first place.
or
c.) Insult her and her costume.
You choose c and tell her that the costume she’s wearing looks like a cheap Halloween costume. She tries to laugh, but you then tell her to dump the frap on herself to give the costume a better color. She walks out of the café without her frap. You feel so cool. Too bad no one saw.
The girl comes back with her mother: a big, burly woman. Big momma proceeds to beat the crap out of you. Scared for your life, you hobble down the street with the little strength you have left. Unlucky for you, you take off right as a slew of customers are headed to the café. Disappointed, your manager fires you.
After your flashback, you realize that perhaps your personality is a problem, but that’s not important to you right now. You now have a new job that you gained from a mysterious note that read, “If you’re looking for a job, come behind the grocery store at precisely four AM”.
Only finding the note shady now and not when you first received it, you had earlier decided to come here. And here you are at three fifty eight AM, waiting for something to happen behind this store.

Name: Amarna Dallwarth
Description: The misunderstood little sister of the main character. As with most of Amarna's family, the main character doesn't get along with her. When if comes to interacting with her family, Amarna is a bit sarcastic, deadpan, and low energy while mostly keeping to herself. With friends, she's more enthusiastic. Amarna's trying to figure out her calling or where she fits in. However, her family doesn't quite like how she explores life. She tries to act more mature, yet is also easily provoked into losing her temper. The story follows a timeline, so she starts out as a 10 year old and eventually becomes a 14 year old. Her voice doesn't change much in between those years if at all.
Lines:
1. [skeptical, but trying to play it cool] Uh... who are you? Pretty sure this is a family of five, not six...
2. [irritated] Your stupid fish doesn't count! Stop bringing people to eat our food!
3. Yeah! We can marathon it! But uh... your house. Let's... let's do it at your house.

Name: Noraz
Description: Noraz is the summoned creature of the main character, Denner. Usually, this character doesn't speak and only makes a chuckling sound, but Noraz will be speaking in a dream sequence where another character imagines that Noraz can speak. Noraz seems humanoid, but once it's standing next to actual humans, it's clear that it's not in the same art style-- err, not human. This creature is known for being mischievous yet easily distracted. Its speed stat is a lot higher than its strength stat, so it comes off as weak. However, if it's on a team with another creature that can serve as a distraction then it tends to do well. In the dream sequence, Noraz is a bit cocky, impulsive, sporadic, a fast talker, and very expressive.
Lines:

2. Welcome WELCOME weeelcome to our little home here! Yep yep, Calis is over theeere COOKING, Rasmatavo's PAYING THE LIGHT BILL! But yeah! This is just what we do when we haven't been summoned. Ya knoooow???

Name: Hiroyuki Koyanagi
Description: Hiroyuki is a senior at Hill High who recently transferred from Japan because his father received a job in the US. He's often silent and many take this as if he's mysterious and cool, but actually he's mostly just scared to speak English regardless of his skill in speaking it. Heck, this isn't the first time he's lived in an English-speaking country, so his English skills are actually fine. He's even more scared to take the effort to make more friends-- especially since it's the last year of high school anyway. He's actually the type to crack jokes with a serious face and laugh to himself into his hand. He does plan to move back to Japan after graduating, but that might change now that he's been involved in an underwater mermaid mystery!
Lines:
1. Hello... I was looking for the office...? Where is it?
2. I can't keep saving you like this! Stop letting it pull you in!
3. Thankfully, I don't have a tragic backstory, so no death flags here. [snickers softly]

Name: Taz the Pray-Spell Witch
Description: Taz is a loud and friendly guy who can pray for you or do a spell for you. Either is cool with him. He does get a lot of crap from both sides of those coins though. His broom, Boomstick (not a spelling error), tends to reject him every now and then, but he seems to get everything under control after a while. That or he'll just ride his broom in an unconventional way instead. He's definitely the type who is able to adapt in his own way to any situation.
Lines:
1. Mornin'-- whoa whoa! Wait a second there! I'm not here to preach! I'm just trying to buy lunch!
2. Alright Boomstick, I'm trusting you to put some boom in your speed and get us outta here.
3. Well! I've got two types of protection going-- a prayer and a spell! So I'd say I'd make it through safely, ha hah!

Name: Sarah Hanes
Description: The ex-girlfriend of the main character, but in the beginning of the story they're still together. She's a bit bratty and selfish, but she begins to change a bit during the relationship. While she found the young-forever life to be fun at first, she eventually starts to find her boyfriend's immaturity to be annoying. At some point, she starts to actually pursue goals and take her future seriously, but her boyfriend fails to do so, so she breaks ties. She's studying to be a nurse while taking care of her grandfather every now and then. She used to just let her family dote on her and give her everything she needed, but now she's slowly trying her best to be independent.
Lines:
1. [disapproving] Okay but another concert? Shouldn't you be saving to move out?
2. [angrily] Uuugh! I can't take this! You can call me a spoiled brat all you want, but at least I have a job and I'm friggen trying!
3. [confidently] Eh ha hah! No but really! I might as well get both degrees, right?

Name: THE GREAT SHEEP DEITY OF DREAMS
Description: This deity wanders around Slumberland as they keep track of dreams. Every now and then, they'll visit a dream or someone will accidentally summon this deity. This deity is a bit cranky and tends to prefer silence. They'll also eat certain dreams that pop up as if they were grass. This causes people to forget their dreams upon waking up-- they take this as payment for allowing one to experience good dreams.
Lines:
1. WHO HAS CAUSED THE GREAT SHEEP DEITY OF DREAMS TO WAKE? I, too, desire to rest!
2. A tragedy which must be fixed. It's up to you, dream traveler, to right these wrongs.
3. SILENCE! ...Thank you... Hm? No, I have nothing more to say. I simply desire a lack of sound at this moment.

Name: Lydia Moringer
Description: An explorer who travels far and wide in order to find interesting foods to forage. She's been foraging for about twenty years, but one day she found herself lost in a rather odd forest that did not look like the forest she had entered previously...
Lines:
1. What's going on...? These trees aren't native. Actually... what... are these...?
2. Stay back! I'm warning you. I have-- uh, this! A knife! Just for vines like you!
