At this point Assault is second AOT episode rated at 10/10 on IMDB. For sure it blew up internet and is in list with good tier AOT episodes(like Warrior, or Hero).

'Hero'
'Midnight Sun'
'That Day'
'Perfect Game'
'Declaration of War'
'Warrior'

In that order. 'Assault' would be somewhere between 7 and 10 in my top 10 of the series.

Nah the latest ep was no where near the level of warrior or hero animation wise. Close combat, hero, warrior and every s2 episode are the best ones.

It's insane how overrated Warrior is because of the 2 minutes at the end. The episode as a whole is mediocre, and the fact that it cuts back to a few hours earlier makes the reveal even less satisfying. YOUSEEBIGGIRL is also overrated as shit tbh

Assault wasn't even the best episode of the season imo. I think Declaration of war was better because it was able to have extremely high intensity without any action up until the end. Declaration of war is my favorite episode of AOT. Hero being right behind.
I gave up on character of the week since it takes too much thinking. I'll just change my forum pfp to whoever I want every week lol.

Reiner and Bertholdt's betrayal was one of the most important scenes in the entire anime though. YOUSEEBIGGIRL is pretty overrated. But the episode itself was pretty good. Although, I dont think its as good as the other ones on the list or as good as Declaration of war. Should replace Warrior with Declaration of war tbh.

Hero is way better.

Because not just animation, ost and exexution was the best. But the event felt heart warming because Armin's sacrifice and Levi's amazing victory over Zeke.

For me it's "Crushing Blow"; episode 21 of S1. What I loved about it was the insane and nonstopping dramatic action

The cinematography and arrangement of the soundtrack (I guess it was kinda overkill in a way) there was no other episode that gave me the same sense of excitement. I remember watching this for the first time when I came home drunk and literally sobered me up.

The fact that Assault was much less hyped compared to Declaration of War, Warhammer Titan and a lot of the upcoming episodes while turning out to be the most loved Season 4 episode at the moment speaks volumes about how well the episode was adapted. Overall I'd place it at the third place out of all AoT episodes, second being Warrior and the first being The Other Side of the Wall. That is what I call PURE PERFECTION

I had to vote for Hero although Assault and S2 last ep came to a close call.Remember it was about the episode.Warrior certainly had the best moment so far,but thats just 5 mins.Nothing else was great that episode. The latest ep has everything done well. You got all out Titan war,Levi beating Monke,Scouts demolishing Pieck.Armin turning the port to ashes.Eren beating the shit out of Porco. And that Reiner comeback at the end. This was complemented by great 2D and 3D combo animation. We had no time to relax.

And Hero was just too good. From animation to music to emotions to voice acting, everthing just came all together so good. That was the first big win we had over the titans.

Yeah i'm really impressed with how the episode turned out, expectations play a big factor too, the episode wasn't hyped so people were left surprised in a good way.

Nothing can beat Warrior, Reiner's reveal is the most epic moment in AoT, the direction and sound is just oh so amazing. Hero was good, but Warrior deserves the no. 1 spot.

No season 4 episodes (Currently) get even close to episodes like Warrior or Hero. Last episode might be my 8th favourite episode.

Oh by the way you might want to add more choices in the future, because there will be more episodes in this season that will be the BEST AoT episode. Or else this will be outdated.

This isn't favorite moments but favorite episodes. You can argue that Reiner/Bert reveal was a spectacular moment but it's also the only thing that was good in that episode. The entire first half of Warrior is the most boring part of the entire series.

    Chapter 119-123 (If they don't screw it up) > That Day (S3P2 Ep. 8) > Attack Titan (S3P2 Ep. 9) > Warrior (S2 Ep. 6) > Hero (S3P2 Ep. 5) > Assault (S4 Ep. 7) > Perfect Game (S3P2 Ep. 4) > Midnight Sun (S3P2 Ep. 6) > Scream (S2 Ep. 12) > Declaration of War (S4 Ep. 5) > Sin (S3P1 Ep. 6)

My top favorites, a lot more episodes are memorable and absolute masterpieces but if I had to pick episodes I think are absolute 11/10 banger episodes I could watch on repeat for the rest of my life these are the ones.

This was gonna be my answer. For some reason the episode gets often forgotten. Though it's no wonder since there a lot of great episodes after it like season 2 episode 6 which is my other favorite.

I guess it wasn't such a game changer episode. There was no big reveal, pay-off nor did it impact the narrative as much as others. Tho it had significant impact on Eren that you can still see today.

Aside from that, recency bias is as strong as nostalgia, maybe even stronger with the all hype generated by social media.

That also goes for other series. When episode 957 of One Piece came out it was immediately labeled as best episode ever by many xD

Midnight Sun > Hero > Assault = Perfect Game > That Day > Scream > Crushing Blow: The 57th Exterior Scouting Mission, Part 5 > The Other Side of the Wall > The War Hammer Titan > a draw between too many episodes for the 10th spot.

Midnight Sun is an episode I didn't think AOT could pull off back when I first started the series so it remains the most impressive achievement of Isayama's storytelling chops to me. The use of silence throughout the entire thing, the voice acting, the art, the direction, everyone just brought their A+ game. Hero is the quintessential pay-off episode with two of the most iconic moments in the series. Assault and Perfect Game are as good as any "intermediary action-packed despair-filled episode" can get. That Day is haunting. Scream remains a special episode for Hannes' death and how well the story has restrained from pulling off the coordinate again. Crushing Blow is just high caliber blood-pumping adrenaline action. The Other Side of the Wall's last scene has this ephemeral melancholic beauty to it that I can't help but often think back to. The War Hammer Titan was just great pay-off for Declaration of War. The 10th spot is a draw between Declaration of War, Bystander (Shadis' story), Children (Ymir's flashback), Warrior, Reiner vs Eren round 1 and Charge.

I will say that looking at these results I do find Warrior and Declaration to be a tad bit overrated. Maybe it's because I tend to gravitate more towards emotional pay-offs than plot developments or twists.

Finally, someone else who aknowledges the greatness of episode 21. As far as action episodes are concerned it's one of the best. It's weird how overlooked it is considering it has a 92.77% approval rate on MAL and is the highest rated episode of the first season on IMDB. People sleep on a lot of season 1 episodes in general. There's definitely some recency bias at play in these polls.

I am surprised how episode 1 of season 1 hasn't been mentioned yet. The one that started it all. It's legit one of the greatest first episodes of any anime out there (at least in my experience) and definitely mine favorite start of a TV anime. It's one of the biggest reasons for AoT's explosion in 2013

Regarding episodes with little to no action my ranking is:

3. Bystander (This hit me in the feels but is probably considered filler to others)
