After masteranime and animeheaven getting closed I'm starting to think that anime sites will die and get closed 1 by 1.

What do you think?

Nop it's mostly sites who provided licensed contents that has been shut down. So It will always have some legit streaming sites ( I mean even free ). The only problem could be the difficulty to find old licensed anime in decent quality.

I wouldn't worry too much. Yes, sites will be taken down, but as soon as one goes down, 3 more will spring up to fill the gap. That's how it usually goes for pirates media sites.

As for these alt-sites' quality, I can't say, but at the very least, there should always be at least one website available going into the future.

Also, yes, r/animepiracy is a huge help for finding good sites, I highly reccommend it

I haven't streamed in a while, but Masterani was the single best streaming site out there.

If only Crunchyroll didn't have such a shit selection in my country... between that and Netflix, I'd probably be good.

Else just start pirating the stuff yourself. Not like you are actually getting fucked for torrenting Anime anyways :>

just like torrent sites, anime streaming sites is like hydra, you cut one, more of them will come.

and sometimes the problem lies in maintenance or financial issues, there’s always a way to bypass a blocked link anyway

and i think maintaining an anime streaming sites is a hard work, especially if the collection is huge. and unlike a corporations, these sites sometimes handled by a maybe a handful of people

I hope.

Modern anime fans are terrible and don't realize how lucky they are to be able to watch anime easy and free.

These are pirate sites. They had to shut down due to copyright issues. Hopefully paid sites will prevail.

This. I for one support the closure of piracy sites. I can't say I don't do it myself so I can't be a hypocrite, but I realize how lucky I am to be able to watch anime free. Piracy sites closing would help the medium.

The problem is that paid sites dont have all the content. So yes, I will watch pirate sites for some content. Masteraneme had a huge library, I have no doubt others will pop up.

I haven't streamed anime in a long long while but if I ever wanted to watch old anime Masterani would have been my go to site so it's sad to see it go.

Many people live in countries where majority of Crunchyroll's catalog is not licensed in their region. At least that's the case for me when I last checked it.
Honestly now that I'm older and I'll be starting a job soon I'm at the point where I can't bother with sketchy anime sites and I'd rather just pay money to get a good experience. I hope Netflix and Amazon Prime Video get more anime since I'm gonna subscribe to those anyways especially the latter one since it's much more affordable where I live. I think Amazon Prime video also simulcasts unlike Netflix so that's also a huge plus.

Edit: Just checked crunchyroll again and my god it's absolutely pathetic. Literally everything I'm watching this season is not available due to licensing restrictions. Not only that but it's 10 times more expensive than Amazon Prime Video and it's almost the same price as Netflix.

It's only good for popular and recent anime. Many of the links to anime from many years back are dead.

I am personally TRIGGERED that masterani shut down. It was rather sudden. It was my favorite site for things that I couldn't find on CR. Its death is a significant blow to the community, but I agree that it will rebound and more sites will appear to take its place. I'm just not confident that we will get one with as good a layout and community.
It's not like I like anime or anything.

Did I stutter? If anime fans are going to break the law at least be thankful you all can watch anime free. Sadly, modern anime fans don't realize how lucky they are.

No because you have to be alive to be able to die. Streaming sites are not living beings, and therefore they cannot die.

Just as others said: if one dies others take it's place. It's sad to see masterani go, but there are and always will be others.

I'd advise everyone to NOT mention these "others". Who knows if masterani closed because pirate hunters found out about it on a forum like this or someone browsing ratted out to pirate hunters? If you want a recommendation for sites I or others use, PM us instead.

I do still torrent stuff that I really like but streaming is easier on bandwidth (I live in the countryside where this is a concern) and takes up no hard drive space.

thats debatable, "die" is just word and can be redefined depending on the perspective of the one using it, in this case it means something like "end" or "close down"

Can't believe people actually prefer streaming websites they just rip from horrible subs, nyaa and the quality doesn't look same as download ones. As the person above said just learn to download from nyaa and torrents.

I seriously hope not, streaming has made anime watching sooo much easier, i don't want to go back to downloading them!

When i first learned what anime really was i had to direct download them because streaming didn't really exist back then and torrents took ages to download fully, but since they took up too much space in my hard drive, i had to delete them after i was finished watching, heck, just keeping all my favorite openings and endings takes up 1,03 GB!

Imagine what a series of 25 episodes or longer would occupy, that's why i'd rather stream, also when i tried to download some episodes from IRC once upon a time, i got some nasty viruses from it, so i'm definitely NOT using that shit again! >_<

You're all missing the fact about how unique masteranime was. Literally no other site has tracking besides paid ones and those aren't an option.

I would pay $40 a month for a site that does that.

Hurrr crunchyrole does that!

Yeah with the break up with fun? Go fuck yourself.

Someone needs to make a tracking site that rips from both sites but requires membership to both.

Real ingenuity there.

Big disagree. Anime had a following before major piracy sites existed. Anime would be existent, just less. I don't really see an issue though. Trimming the fanbase isnt always a bad thing.

Ridiculous.

There were anime magazines in the 90s/2000s, merch sold in stores and passionate fans. There was just less fat.

Earlier post I stated I'd pay $40. Having to use multiple apps or sites is a pain in the ass, imagine if mal could only track bones or something. If crunchyroll added a new premium tomorrow for $20 and said it would stream new funimation shows I would buy it.
