As far as I can remember, I was never exposed to or played any video games until I was 6 years old and some kid who lived across the street invited to come and play on his SEGA Genesis, where we played this:

..and I was stuck with being player 2, having little to no clue how to even control my character or receiving much help.

After that rough experience, I kept on playing with LEGO blocks and other kid toys, showing no interest in video games until I got a Game Boy Advance that same year for Christmas. (the old battery-powered, no backlight version. This was 2001)

And I wasn't stuck with portable for long either, as I would also obtain a Hot Wheels-themed Windows 98 PC for my birthday in February 2002 and became a casual PC gamer.
I did not become the console gamer that I have been for years until my grandparents got me a Gamecube for Christmas that year, complete with Super Mario Sunshine and a few other fun games.

How old were you when you began playing games?

What was the first game you ever played, if you can remember that far back? (and if it had multiplayer, were you P1, P2, P3, or P4?)

Like, maybe 8 or 9? Maybe even 10? I honestly can't remember.

What was the first game you ever played, if you can remember that far back? (and if it had multiplayer, were you P1, P2, P3, or P4?)

Probably Need for Speed on the Playstation, complete with steering wheel? And, as far as I can tell, it had multiplayer and I was always P1 considering I was basically the only one who played it when I was over at my Mom's boyfriend's house when we would go over there and visit, et cetera, so...

Other than, I didn't really get into "gaming" until I received a Flame Red Game Boy Advance SP (Special) along with a copy of Pokémon: Ruby Version for my birthday when I was either 11 or 12. ^^;;

I waan't a console kid I'm afraid. The first games that I got to play were the first episode of Wolfenstein 3D and Living Books games (I mostly recall "Harry and the Haunted House" and " Just grandma and me") on the family's Macintosh when I was between 2 or 3.

Later on I would play with my cousin's NES and more complex games like Marathon Durandall.

Pepsi Man for the PS1. Not only the best advertisement ever in video game form, but it also has one of the catchiest theme songs.

Edit: Actually it was Destruction Derby 2 lol. Just remembered after a conversation with someone about it xD

I started out like many, with the Super Mario/Duck Hunt cartridge that came with my NES for Christmas in 1992. I played many great NES games in the early 90s, like Startropics, Mega Man III, and River City Ransom.

I got a Genesis in 1994, and an SNES in either 1995 or 1996, and I rented many games from my local video store. I've been playing video games for 26 years at this point, but I spend far less time playing video games now than I did when I was younger.

I'm 100% sure it was Uncharted 1: Drake's Fortune. I played it on the PS3 when I was still just a toddler. It was a great experience, I guess.

Probably around 4-6yo can't remember the age but it was on the Game Boy advanced, super mario or kirby. Good days.

After that battle toads cought my attention and the rest is history.

The first video game that I ever played was one of the Super Mario Bros video games for the NES. However, I grew up more during the SNES era. But my family would still play the NES in addition to the SNES.

The first game i ever played is definitely one of the first 3 sonic games on the mega drive. I was probably 3 or 4. I do remember in sonic 2 or 3 i'd always be P1. Leaving my mum to play as tails and be constantly left behind. Being P2 was never much fun in those games XD

I was probably 7 to 10-ish. No idea which game was first, but our first computer didn't have too many, and it would be one of them. I remember Snapper (Pacman clone), Starship Command (shooty rotation-based thing where it wasn't even trivial to tell whether something was the turning control because your ship stayed in the same place and the world turned, so they didn't need to create rotated ship sprites, and you needed to launch an escape pod before your ship was destroyed,) a couple of text adventures, one of which was called Philosopher's Quest, Free Fall (guy in a spacesuit rotates and rams into enemies,) some sort of Mars lander clone thing, Firebug and Boxer (primitive fixed-screen platform things,) and Escape from Moonbase Alpha (run around rooms with randomly generated links looking for gold to pay the Doctor for escape, easily became impossible due to bad luck.)
