How do you deal with rude or disrespectful people?
| How do you deal with rude or disrespectful people? It depends on the context of course, but for the sake of things, let's just say we're talking about complete strangers who are rude or disrespectful for seemingly no prior reason (e.g. an inpatient and/or aggressive customer at your workplace, someone who bitterly insults you or even tries to pick a fight with you if you accidentally knock into them while passing in the street, etc.) How do you usually respond to people such as this? Discuss. |

| Online? Fight back, most of the time. I know I shouldn't and I'm wasting my time with them but I can't help but defend myself because there's nobody else to do it but me. Offline and with strangers? Nope, get me out of here. |

| By nature I tend to treat people the same way they treat me, so if somebody is being a rude fuckwit, then I see it as a greenlight for me to be a dick as well. It's actually sort of therapeutic, especially if I have some pent up anger or frustration. I'm not known for being a very tolerant person, and I'm never going to put up with a rude or disrespectful person. |

Anyway, this is getting off-topic so I'll just answer my own question in the OP: Online, I almost always ignore unless I think it might be amusing to reply, or if I, for whatever reason, believe the other person is genuine and is just being a bit of a dick with how he/she words their sentences, again, for whatever reason. If they continue to behave that way however, I simply ignore them afterwards. Offline, I always try to ignore as well, in those situations I can't, I usually just grin and bear it until the other person has gone away. Being confrontational with confrontational people often doesn't end well, in my experience. |

| I dislike conflicts so I avoid them whenever possible. I'll just apologize for the misunderstanding and move on, I guess. No point in worrying about it too much. They're probably just having a bad day and want to take it out on others, so I don't want to make it any worse. |
