| People in this series really act as if they’ve never seen a tall guy with blond hairs lmaoo. Guy gets treated the same wherever he goes, seriously. Anyway, the date part went really well. Tells you what a character in this series can do if they don’t get their panties in a twist just by seeing blond hairs and pierced ears. Love Kaoruko because of that. I mean we’d see more of her character going forward and how nice she is, but yeah, good to see at least someone isn’t treating the main guy as an alien because of how he looks. Subaru was pretty selfish to ask something like that tbh, when Kaoruko never even asked her for such a favor. Though hey, she loves her friend so it wasn’t like she was completely unreasonable. I liked how Rintarou just didn’t give in and started acting “if it’s for her own good then I’ll compromise”, or stuff, I mean why should he compromise? Makes no sense right? Great of him, and hey, he passed the exams as well, except now the guys know about something they shouldn’t have, at least now. Well fuck. |
Gotta give props to CloverWorks for once, I’m really glad they’re not fanservicing Waguri like they usually do with the female leads in these kinds of romances. I mean, how could you even dare to ruin the innocence of a girl this pure and sweet!! But yeah, I think Waguri put it best when it comes to Subaru, she’s just genuinely misunderstood. That said, the scene that followed definitely isn’t going to help her case... if anything, it would've just fuel more hate. But thankfully she doesn’t come off nearly as aggressive as how we saw her in the last episode, or how Rintarou first imagined her lol. Plus, we actually get some backstory and context for why she hates boys and all that. It’s really nice to see that Waguri has such a great and caring friend like Subaru. It makes sense why she’d want Rintarou to stay away, like she said, too many bad things could happen if the truth got out. But even so, like Rintarou said, he just can’t do that. He might not know Waguri as well as Subaru does, but he still cares about her, deeply and genuinely. And those feelings are clearly mutual, which is exactly why he can’t just walk away like she asked. I mean, without Waguri, our boy wouldn’t have been able to FRIGGIN’ PASS THAT EXAM WITH (semi) FLYING COLORS!!! What he didn’t manage to pull off with flying colors though was keeping his relationship with Waguri a secret. He got found out... by the boys, for now at least. Not great, but hey, definitely better than the other way around. |

Rintaro has been looking forward to this study session. He meets Kaoruko and they decide to study at a café and eat the food there. Rintaro shares that he does not want to fail his exams because he wishes to participate in the Sports Festival with his friends. Kaoruko wishes him all the best for the upcoming midterms, so that he can fully enjoy himself. After Kaoruko leaves and he prepares to go home, he is stopped by Subaru, who requests to speak with him. At another café, Subaru requests for Rintaro to stop interacting with Kaoruko."I don't want you to see Kaoruko again." She explains that Kikyo's teachers particularly despise Chidori, and does not want her to get into any trouble. Subaru's hatred towards men stems from her childhood, when she was bullied for her silver hair. She views Kaoruko as her savior because she stood up for her. Being friends with her ever since, Subaru has seen the effort Kaoruko has had to put in to enter Kikyo, and she wishes to "protect her happiness". Rintaro apologizes for not being able to accede to that request. On the train ride home, Rintaro reflects on what Subaru has told him, and admires her for expressing her care for Kaoruko. Two female students thank him for offering them his seat in the library. He is visibly troubled by how to handle this situation involving Subaru. Back in school, Rintaro and Shohei have managed to pass all their midterm exams, and the class erupts in celebrations. Amidst the chaos, Saku accidentally knocks over Rintaro's desk. When he picks up Rintaro's book, he notices a note from Kaoruko inside...  |

| We clear up one misunderstanding, we get another one. Life for a Kaoruhana stan here in the early part of the story lol. I for one, will gleefully take every single Subaru episode you feed me and be happy about it 😂 Kaoruko and Rintaro’s study date was soooo cute oh my goodness. No I won’t Shutup and be normal about it all week idc lol. Kaoruko looked so cute in her outfit and I love her hair being done up like that! Cloverworks spared no expense on my girl. I will give the two love birds credit, they tried their hardest to focus on just studying but when they looked in each other’s eyes them sparks were FLYING! The way they both were nervous af for the rest of the study session was so cute 🥰 Kaoruko making Rintaro a study guide from scratch is also gf of the year type shit, I love them sm. I love how Kaoruko tried to bring up Subaru to emphasise to Rintaro how good a person she(Subaru) really is. Ofc Rintaro never harbored any bad feelings towards her, but you can tell how important it is to Kaoruko that the guy she likes and her best friend get along which is very real. She also wanted him to know there’s nothing wrong with being open about loving your friends which a lot of young men really do struggle with so that was very sweet. No one can tell your story better than you, though. Subaru showing up and explaining why she hates guys and why she’s so protective of Kaoruko was such a nice scene. Even though Rintaro was never going to accept that deal to leave Kaoruko alone, now he fully understands why Subaru’s the way she is and Subaru knows this guy really cares for her friend and will be there for her, even if that means going thru her. I also think it’s funny how Kaoruko, who you kinda assume is this cute and demure girl who wouldn’t hurt a fly, is the one who protected Subaru, who you’d associate with being a more aggressive bad ass sort of person lol. Again, can’t judge a book by its cover which is what this story is about. Her face card is otherworldly too I can’t get over how gorgeous Subaru is.. Of course just as things start going well for Rintaro, he connects with Subaru, aces the exam, the girls from last week apologize to him.. now his homies know he and Kaoruko are hanging out on the side.. we love a bit of drama lol. |

| Nicely adapted Chapters 5 to 7. With this speed, episode 13 would most probably reach the confession chapters 🌸💙 Next episode would tackle more of Subaru and Waguri's bond and the topic of Waguri being with Rintaro. And the friendship of the boys too. |
| The Subaru-Rintaro part was simple but nice. She wanted to look out for Kaoruko's well-being knowing how her school views Chidori students and her hanging out with one could damage her reputation in the school and her scholarship, but ultimately, Rintarou at least learned this time to not judge the situation from the outside and did consider Kaoruko's feelings carefully before just accepting to stop seeing her. He avoided the mistake of 'compromising' like he did last time so that's good growth. Subaru was a little selfish but she was at least clear about her intentions, and did recognize Rintarou to be a little 'different' from other men she had encountered previously that made her hate them and Chidori folk. Ultimately it is their friendship and if both are responsible (which they are), then it should be fine. He at least made it count too to pass his exam more than comfortably so good for him. This episode had a couple things happen like with the study session too earlier on but everything just flew by. Pacing was not too fast but also not a drag either, kind of found a nice sweet spot for the time being. |
| I don't mind when an anime has lacking character animation. It's like whatever. But when the expression of characters is vibrant it adds so much in getting you invested. |

| I get why Subaru would feel that way given the friction between Kikyo and Chidori, but I still think it's wrong for her to impose on Rintaro instead of letting Kaoruko make that choice for herself. |
| Genuinely idk how Subaru is getting hate from anime onlys, I mean im a anime only too and she's probably my second favourite character. She is honestly the depiction of an incredible friend. A girl with something unique about her which lead her to being bullied and saved by Kaoruko her closest friend and hero. I find the fact Subaru holds her so dearly and wants to separate her from Rintaro to be very admirable. At the same time though you have to consider what Kaoruko wants as well. Subaru has only good intentions in mind and so does Rintaro but at the end of the day its up to Kaoruko to decide who she sees. I also love that at least right now Subaru is the only other character besides Rintaro and Kaoruko that is able to look at people logically and not just resort back to the prejudice between both schools. Like she showed respect to Rintaro because she knew he's a genuinely great guy. Its actually really sad but essentially this show is about a bunch of highschool kids trapped because of the conflicts of adults. Like ultimately this is a bunch of adults hate for each others schools stemming back down to the students who are just following that trend since they can't do anything else. Rintaro, Kaoruko and Subaru are currently the only ones to break that trend. Its really sad honestly. I just hope Rintaro don't distance himself from Kaoruko since she clearly likes him a lot and don't show any kind of disrespect to him. So I hope Rintaro don't end up backing away because again Kaoruko should decide who she is with herself. Really an amazing episode, curious to see what the guys think of the notebook. Plus I really hope we time to see the girls school since so far we have only been exposed to the guys school. also the scene with the 2 girls thanking Rintaro was super wholesome |

| Out of all of the genres of anime I've seen, romance has gotta be one of the largest of the catalog. And in relation to them, this one seems more "generic" than others. The others have some sort of flavor and twist that makes them different, while this one is just... vanilla. Every piece of dialogue has been expected, but I realize that's not the point. It's HOW they give the dialogue, it's HOW they present the common tropes, it's the quality behind everything. And I've gotta say, with the quality that this romance is, it's becoming the sweetest flavor of vanilla I've ever had. |

| AAUUUGHH. SO PEAK. I love Subaru. She's such a well-written, in-depth character as shown in this episode and the manga, and I'm so happy this adaption handled the moment in the café so well. Subaru just wants to look out for Waguri like how Waguri looks out for her, and that's so sweet.. She has valid reasons for pushing away Rintaro, but I think that's only going to make things worse for Waguri. The cliffhanger isn't a good sign, and I know exactly what's going to go down in the next episode.. (·•᷄ࡇ•᷅ ) 5/5 as always.  |
| Great ep Nice to see my boy have his first date, even if its a calm study date. Kaoruko mad nice to dedicate time for our boy. Subaru finna shock yall, this is the start. She's much better than she seems. She simply loves and cares about her day 1 like crazy. STAND ON BUSINESS RINTARO, WE KNOW U LOVE KAORUKO👏 LMAO, not the teacher crying as well. Oof, the note..... incoming cringe moment next ep. Idk if it was just me, but the eps quality felt lower, compared to the other 3 eps where it felt like it was 1080p, opposed to 720p for ep4. This ep adapted ch 5-7. Once again the pacing is disturbing, but imma trust the director. Small changes, but doesn't impact anything. Really hoping this next ep somehow adapts from ch 8 - 11 for this arc to end. 10/10 |

| The bullying back story isn't an excuse for Subaru's actions. If she truly cared about Waguri's happiness she wouldn't be a snake trying to keep her from Rintarou. I hope Rintarou is smart enough not to avoid Waguri. |
| In other anime, Rintaro would be considered as a cool ikemen. But here they fear him for his looks 😅😅 In the end it just feels like Hoshina is just jealous of their relationship apart from her need to protect Kaoruko. The teachers are to be blamed for creating such a division between these schools which got spread to the students as well. Now Natsusawa knows about Kaoruko.. It's time Rintaro comes clean about him and Kaoruko. |

Peak ep and adaptation. They also seemed to pick up the pace a bit and adapted 3 chapters this ep which is nice
