Hmm, I don't know. It might be hard to get the same feeling if you know what's going to happen. What are your thoughts?

Maybe for a few gags. But the plot in general is not of the sort you'd enjoy to its fullest while re-watching.

i would say the comedy and drama moments will still be funny/sad, although the fact that you already know the outcome of everyting, might be a little different.

Well, I've quite enjoyed the Visual Novel if that counts. As far as the actual show? I won't know until I actually attempt to rewatch it. I don't see how it would be all that as long as there is a bit of a gap between watches. Hell, you may even notice a few things you may of missed.

I have a notoriously horrendous memory, but the storyline of Clannad is something I will never, ever forget. You may disagree with me, but once is definitely enough. It will never leave your mind.
A fitting first post, no?

I watched Clannad twice. And Actually picked up a couple of things I missed/forgotten about. As well as see character developments that I don't remember seeing. I'd say definitely give it another go if it's been 1 or 2 years since you last seen Clannad.

I have yet to re-watch After Story. So I'll keep my lips sealed on that.

Possibly. There are sure to be details that were missed and I guess it's just too good of an anime with such a deep moral and deserves rewatching.

I rewatched it. Sure the emotional impact isn't as great but its still good though the last arc of After Story is still awesome. I could pick up the details I previously missed or ignored.

I'm watching After Story for the third time now and I'm not getting bored. Sure, it hasnt the same impact as the first time, but that doesnt change the fact that this series is a huge masterpiece.

Clannad, I would hesitate to pick up again, but I wouldn't mind rewatching it compared to most other shoujos or harems (although Clannad isn't really either).

After Story Episode 9 - 22 , those 13 episodes I would watch endlessly. The most emotional anime moments ever for me.

I've watched both seasons 3 times I think. I've done it once every year since I picked it up. I haven't done it this year though.. since I don't have much free time as I used to.

But definitely. I still get the same feeling every time I watch it. Maybe its because the other 2 times I re-watched it, I was always with a different person. Its interesting to see how the person/people watching with you react with their own set of emotions. I think thats what got me going and it made me feel like I was watching again for the first time.

This anime is way to special to watch casually.
I still have strong respect for it.
But i will gather the nerve to watch it again some day, tho i'll probably cry my eyes dry again. :/<---I am way to emotional and this anime just gives out soo much emotions !!!
And yes its going to be worth watching it again !! OFC !

Instead of pointlessly rewatching it you should probably go do something productive like reading the visual novel.

I'm also curious about this, though it seems to many that rewatching and enjoying a second/multiple times is possible.

Having such a great impact to me, its events are not something easily forgotten, so I don't think I will try to rewatch it, since I already know the outcomes.

Less emotions/pressure though since the scenes will be predictable.

I watched it once . i feel i must heal first before i can watch it again , the first 3 month after i watched clannad & clannad AS i even cant hear OP song cuz i still feel so sad.
but i know after years it wil make me cry again.
its really one of the best anime that i watched in this 3 years of my anime watching xD

As "tehnominator" said "As life continues, we learn (often in the hardest of ways) that things never remain the same. One can be happy for only so long. Sorrow creeps--sometimes barges--into our lives when we are least prepared or when we least suspect it. But one can only be sad for only so long as well, as Clannad ~After Story~ shows us that life does not end even when we think it does. "
like ED of anime : Ureshii koto Kanashii koto mo zenbu marumete (It takes all the happy and sad things and rounds them up)

It's no doubt the first time is the most special... However, watching it again may be a good reminder to "why you loved the show so damn much" ^_^

I just got my DVD of Clannad After Story last week, which is supposed to come out next Tuesday. So, I already re-watched the first season and I'm currently watching the second season again. So, I'm watching it again, in English.

I finished both series last spring. (Although, I watched the first season again in the same year ever since the DVD that includes the english dub came out)

At first I thought that a lot of the impact would be gone after seeing it already but I was still moved to tears when re-watching after a year or so. I usually can't stand watching stuff more than once, even comedies. I might watch the first season again but I doubt it, it doesn't have near the amount of appeal that the 2nd season has.

I know what you mean. I've seen FMA about 5 times and I still cry when Roy says: "It's going to rain today."

Re-watching right now in English dub and just finished ep14. I didn't think I would like it as much on my second watch, but I was dead wrong. Absolutely wrong. I've fallen in love with the series again...and it's in 5.1!

It depends on how much time you give before re-watching it. If you wait a few years I believe you'll (or at least I will) enjoy it just as much. Over time you'll forget most of the anime; besides the huge events of course.

I know it's a completely different type of anime but I'm re-watching Code Geass after 5 years and I love it more than the first time I watched it.

It´s never the same as the first watch, but I´ve rewatched Afterstory a couple of times and I still enjoy it alot. OFC, it kinda depends on your thoughts about the anime, but I don´t think its one of the anime with the best rewatch value, as knowing whats gonna happen really affects the experience, but its till good regardless.

I don't understand all the people who said it sucked rewatching. I found it really interesting and personally MORE emotionally jarring than the first time I ran through it. If you pay attention it hints at future events and to know what's really going to happen despite the character's best intents. I found this valid all the way from fuko to Okazaki's father and himself.
Pay attention and Its well worth the rewatch.

I must agree to what you are saying! It was the best series I had watched when I saw it first time and it is still the best! I got all the good feelings from the first time I saw it and I still get butterflies in my stomach! I love this show and I think it's not the last time I re-watch it! I laughed, I cried and I loved it once again!
