Noir Episode 1 Discussion

The painted backgrounds will continue to be a highlight of this series. The only lasting problem with this show, and I genuinely mean this, is the lack of blood. I'm not looking for a gore fest, but there really needed to be some extra gravity to the gunfights, and that means blood, squibs, etc. I really want to know whose idea it was to remove all the blood, even from knife fights... it severely nurfs what are great gunfights, and keeps the show from really reaching that 9/10 killer anime status. Some might think it doesn't matter, but it really does. There are plenty of other great things about the show, the music, the characters, I would argue the non-rushed pacing, and those dang backgrounds as stated above. No blood doesn't ruin the show of course, but in an anime about assassins and death, the price of life really needed to be felt, and blood is the currency of that life. There is a certain X factor missing from Noir due to the lack of blood, but what's good and stylish about the show is definitely worth a watch.

I would kill for a competent edit of the show which somehow manages to add in blood splatters.

@BustyKagefusa I agree with you! Another issue due to the lack of blood is that we can't always tell how badly wounded a character is. Especially when it comes to knife wounds, as you say. Supposedly, they weren't allowed to add blood due to TV channel restrictions (I believe I read that in notes included with a DVD), but that still seems odd. They continue this bloodless trend throughout Madlax and El Cazador, if I remember correctly. Maybe it was really just a stylistic choice, or became that following Noir.

An edit with some blood would definitely be cool to see.
