K-ON!! can now go two routes: filler and bittersweet ending, or they continue to play together and reach their goals to play at a) Budokan (from season 1) and b) the Summer Festival (this season). It'll make the difference between it being a good and a bad anime.

I think it's a shame that Mugi's song (the one she was talking about a few episodes ago, Honey Sweet Tea Time (?)) wasn't in it, but overall, I found it to be a good episode. The pace was slower, and not as funny, but I don't think that was necessarily a bad thing. I never thought I'd say this about K-ON, but I got a little emotional towards the end.

U&I was pretty awesome, and Gohan wa Okazu was silly, but fun (and it's very sad that it's composer has passed away. RIP.)
If any of my posts seem odd, it's probably because I'm tired. Sorry. I have sleeping issues.

Budokan won't happen homie. They already yelled in passionate fashion at the end of season 1 as they were playing for the school "THIS IS OUR BUDOKAN!"

Fantastic episode. Couldn't help but feel the emotions at the end. Having just graduated High School myself, this kind of stuff hits home with me.

this

I understand that for it to be realistic and good and touching it needs to end.
But I won't survive their break up. At least I don't think so.

;_______;

God DAMNIT Japan!! I love how they didn't just say "OH IT'S OUR LAST SCHOOL FESTIVAL LOL LET'S CRY", they actually... made it seem real. I dunno, or maybe I'm just KyoAni's little bitch. I cried like one, at least.

I wonder how many people will commit suicide 6 weeks from now, once K-ON is over in both manga and anime formats?

This episode was so emotional D:
I love it a lot and the songs as well. I really do hope that they have a third season or side episodes (about their college life?) but so far I don't see that happening...and it saddens me even more OTL -sob-
It really brought me tears and had me wonder if things could be the same when I graduate from highschool.
HOUKAGOU TEA TIME FOREVER!!!
The next six episodes, no matter if it's bad or not, I'll still love it a lot : D

...Lastly, NODOKA-CHAN!!! I want to join the Mio Fanclub xD

Well, that still leaves Summer Festival. There's no excuse for not doing that...I mean, there are still 6 episodes left.

Besides that strictly technical perspective, you have to admit that it would be way better if they went for Budokan anyway. It would be a rare chance for an anime to depict the characters going against what people tell them to do and chasing their dreams. You can tell that they want to keep going. I mean, what else are they gonna do, go live normal lives and reminisce about their youth? I'm pretty sure the ending theme says (paraphrased) "I don't want that", and neither does the audience.

Seriously, it would be awesome if they kept going, and I really think that it would be disappointing if they weren't able to break free of their restraints, which is why I think Budokan should still happen. Do you disagree?

The episode is amazing! Not only did it hit the plot (finally), but they had the best performance out there. Gohan wa Okazu was not a song I was fully impressed. Although I've heard that song was composed by a singer that just passed away (Respects to her and her family) which is an awesome fact to note. Definitely loved U&I and want to get that song ASAP.

The best part was after the performance. The episode had a tearjerker T_T. Dang, Mugi mad me cry. She was very emotional in that part. So sad to see that they finally found out that HTT's end is soon :( Very impressive way to end the episode 5/5.

Do explain how their tears (and the "manly" tears shed in this thread) are supposedly manly, thank you.
Protip: I don't really check the forums anymore, so if you want something, take it on my profile.
Is it time for my long-awaited return to the forums? щ(゚Д゚щ) Nope™, probably not.

What an awesome episode, the best in my opinion. I've really found the last minutes touching. It's sad that the end of this show is coming soon, even if I think that this is one of the most important part of a slice of life anime.

that was one of the best if not the best K-ON episode ever

Songs were great fun and extremely catchy, animation was meticulous and stunning (I wonder how much of their notably large budget kyonani dedicated for this ep) and the whole thing ended up quite touching.

Hell, I liked even Yui in this ep

Great stuff in any case

holy shit..

I read comments about people crying the whole show, and knew what to expect.

First was the t-shirt thing, not really touching. Then it came to the talking, mildly sad. Then everyone praising yui, would be touching if i was yui. Yui's "this is our last song" and "our time is up" tugged abit of heartstrings. Then, the U&I, also mildly melancholic. So, i thought, you people cry way too easily...

Then it came, when they were talking about whats next, that's just epic. Its the feeling most of us would have felt before mostly during our final year trip from middle school or high school.

and this:

If that was their parents, it's kinda weird that Ui would say "she's my sister" to them. Then again, it could just show how often they're not around.

Other than that, really liked both of the new songs, but I'm still holding out for Mugi's song, or at least her singing.

Also, I'm sure this has been brought up before, but is Yui's rice obsession some sort of shout-out to Soga Keena from Ichiban Ushiro no Daimou (they have the same VA)? I mean seriously, the only thing missing from Keena's rice obsession was a song about rice, and OH LOOK A SONG ABOUT RICE.

I thought about that too. But i think the subs wasn't totally accurate. Maybe it would sound better as,"It's onee-chan"..

This is assuming it was their parents

and the beginning of U&I song reminded me of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA58lxIOSag&feature=search

There's always a Yaoi fangirl in every slice of life anime save for a few that were from the 80's-90's and early 2000's.

That was Yui&Ui's parents? I thought Ui turned and said, THAT'S MY SIS to them. But that'd be cool if it was.

I loved this episode. It actually felt like a last episode. I got a little teary eyed in some parts and I loved that we could actually have whole songs at the live. BUT WHATEVER I'M DOWNLOADING THEM ALL NOW.

The end was so touching, I was surprised when Ritsu and Yui went on about what they'll do, and then the AC for Summer, and I was like D'awwww.
