At the very least they could have used a remix rendition of Black Rock Shooter as its ending song to save us from this disgrace of a plot... but no, they used a shitty rock song as a placeholder instead. My ears were grating by the end. Nice animation, nice lesbian subtext, awesome fighting. No plot. 7/10 and that's being generous. |

Ahm....I have a question. Was I the only one, who was expecting an Action-Adventure Anime and not Slice-Of-Life drama? :-) I mean...it supposed to be a "Black Rock Shooter" Anime and not "Dramatic life of Mato & Yomi" (And I think that’s the reason, why there are reviews like "what the f*** did I just watch?”) |

The drama thing was touching. I just wish the story was chronological so I can go watch those action scenes again. |

I just watched and I really liked it. Sure, there wasn't much off a story and lived off it's visuals, but it was very nice to watch. As one who didn't know the original song and character of course I'm going to have a diffrent impression than all those that anticipated this, but oh well. I like happy slice of life anime and I enjoy beautiful visuals and I don't mind the slow pacing. But I guess many people expected something diffrent from this. |

Did I just rewatch Ga-Rei -Zero- or what ? Both protagonist are almost the same, the taller one has actually the same first name (lol what a coincidence) Both have a deep friendship, both end up fighting and get a very good fighting animation, both have almost the same drama. 6/10 |

I actually liked it. I don't get what everyone is raging about, and I don't get why people give into hype ALL THE TIME. The animation was fine and the story was not half bad. Whats bad about it? Do not say lack of plot or bad plot. Its a 50 min. OVA about two best friends and people expect it to be a masterpiece. I also don't get why it has to be a lesbian relationship when its about two girls. It pisses me off. They are friends. Story 7/10 Art 8/10 Music 10/10 Overall enjoyment 9/10. Honestly, guys stop with your 'expectations' just because the anime has a damn Miku song. Get over it. |

I don't think that this OVA sucks... I'm just a little bit disappointed....I was just expecting a story, like a story of this well known PV-Video or something like that..and a lot of people didn't want to see Black Rock Shooter as a philosophical-Anime or symbolical Slice-of-Life Drama. And...is there really a plot in the BRS-World? (althought the title of this anime is "Black Rock Shooter"?) |

It simply destroyed the pacing of the whole anime by 5 in 5 minutes changing from a slice of life story to an action series, without any warning. Not only was it a mess, it was completely useless. Would been better if they would just limit to the BRS world, or at least made it sequential... |

The OVA wasn't very good. But was it BAD? No. Ridiculously high standards were set on the OVA that was almost based just on one character design. I have no idea what people were expecting from a 50 minute OVA based on one character. The ending was terrible, though. What kind of cliffhanger was that? |

I loved the fight scenes, and nice touch intertwining with the slice of life. As for the cliffhanger people keep bringing up, did people watch after the credits and are referring to Yuu's awkward stance? Or just when BRS merged with Mato and what happened afterwards? Since I didnt know about this I wasnt expecting anything really, I just like the designs, and all in all for a 50 min OVA that really has no plot, very good, music during the fights was nice, characters werent standout but still pleasant. |

After watching the anime, you don't understand? Are the general anime viewers stupid? At first I have to say it's a bit confusing but over the course of the anime, you finally understand that it has been animated in a somewhat reverse order. 8/10 Oh and no plot? Wtf? 2 Best friends having a good time, then a new person comes into the relationship and the other one gets jealous. And NO this is not lesbian and if you never felt a hint of jealousy from one of your same sexed friend then you need to find a better friend. So yeah, the jealous friend apparently went to the dark side and Mato had to bring her back. And so she became BRS and started to fight the dark side and voila, rescued her and the end. Meanwhile the person who butted in the first place is experiencing the same jealousy as Yomi. What's there to hate about this OVA? |

Hmm. With all the low score reviews I was expecting this to be bad. It was actually quite a good anime to watch. Granted it should have been longer since some minor details didn't get explained but you can easily understand the whole story without anyways. Kurogashi said: After watching the anime, you don't understand? Are the general anime viewers stupid? Not just anime viewers. People in general sadly. I watched the Inception movie the other day and after the movie I over heard so many people asking their friend retarded question because they didn't understand... zzz. Makes me wonder if people pay attention to speech in shows anymore rather than the flashy effects. |

I'd give this episode a 4/5. The characters are neat, the stories by themselves are easy to follow, lots of action, and I loved the music (especially during the fighting scene). The only thing I disliked was the difficulty of following the stories together. What I mean by that is: At the beginning, up until the part when some particular person...,uh...,goes away (I worded it like this to avoid spoiling the plot), I understood it very well. However, when that happened, I got really confused. After the girl found the star thing and it showed the final battle, I wasn't sure if she BECAME the BRS, or if she was just WATCHING her, or nothing at all. Then, after the other girl is saved, BRS comes down and tells Mato to try to save her, which doesn't make much sense. Then, they morph together, and that's what I REALLY need help with. Does that mean that all the fighting occurs AFTER the end of the story, or are they just together during the final battle I mentioned? (Sorry, I'm sure that this is VERY confusing to read, ask me if you need anything cleared up. :D) |

The last scene proves that it's whatshername who was fighting evil Yomi. When she was fighting, her left eye was glowing and the first time her eye was glowing is after the fusion. |

Even thought they rush a bit in this OVA, I never believe a short OVA like this should be the good, the music and everyhing fit well. And now I can get this OVA out from my head and keep rewatching it, it might like the voice actor in this series. The fighting and so on is not that damn important for me. What I can see here that Black Rock Shooter is Mato otherself and you did see that they become one and end like that. For me it seem like Yomi got possed by Dead Master. Then Black Rock Shooter saved her from Dead Master and she fall down an disappear. When Mato tough that accessory her emotion flow to Black Rock Shooter and that's make her break free from the chain and saved Yomi. But what I don't like it does end quickly and it rush it, it kind of disappointed me. I hope they will do a fully anime series of this soon Why making an OVA of 50 minutes when they can make a movie of this? Low on budget? Edit: I think Yuu is the one with 2 big weapons in that world, she looks the same, Oh it's got updated now. |

Unoriginal boring story with unoriginal characters The fights in the other world werent even nice/good the only nice thing about itw as the style of it and thats it My question would be what to like of it? There is absolutley nothing which makes this anime good or exciting in any kind of way I hesitated on responding to this originally, because of how thoughtless it is, but here I go. You begin by stating that it was boring. That's fine. I assume you will back that up. But no, you then say "The Metaphoric part is just some eye candy to make ppl believe its special". How is that? You didn't explain it at all. Oh well. It's only one mistake. Oldy said: Imagine they wouldnt have put that in whats left? That's pretty much just like saying "What would Code Geass have been without the supernatural stuff and war?" Well, of course, it would have been stupid, but so what? It was part of the anime. Saying that doesn't really serve to legitimately criticize the anime in any way. What would Baccano! have been without the immortals? Claymore without the demons? Darker than Black without the contractors? Elfen lied without the Diclonius? Death Note without the death note? As you should be able to see, none of those are valid points against those animes, and yours is no different, because it, like those, is basically saying "it would have sucked without this key element", which I STILL disagree with, because even BRS's slice of life parts were good enough to warrant it being decent, so to answer your question, I'll say this: Lots of mindlessly entertaining scenes would have been left. It wouldn't have been the same, but who cares? It was part of the anime, and nothing you say can change that. After that you kinda just restate your original point but mentioning that the characters are boring, which is true; they weren't that great, but the story was definitely not original, and I would be happy if you were to show me an example of another anime that's just like this. Oldy said: The fights in the other world werent even nice/good the only nice thing about itw as the style of it and thats it You mean the animation style? Yeah, that was pretty cool. I don't really know what's to compain about the fights themselves though, and I'd be, again, happy if you could point to an example. Oldy said: My question would be what to like of it? Well, if you had read my whole post, you would have noticed me saying "Well, it's got depth, it's creative, it had good music, good animation, good voice acting, and was well written, not dragging on to cheesy or melodramatic moments." I argued that it has depth already. Feel free to refer to my post not but two above yours. As for the creativity, I will point to the setting in the alternate world, the visual and direction style, and then everything that I mentioned in my original post. The music fit the atmosphere well, particularly the piano pieces, and served to enhance the emotion in the scenes, but I suppose that can be written off as opinion. You already said that the animation is good, so I don't think I need to convince you of that. The voice acting of the main characters was undeniably convincing, and the writing/pacing overall, as I said, never dragged on and helped us understand different sides of the characters. For example, we got to see them experiencing different emotions, seeing how they reacted under different circumstances so we get to see what they're made of. This is called character development. Moreover, at no point was the drama forced, or "melodramatic". So there are several things to like about it, but if you really wanted to refute my list, you should have addressed it rather than ignoring it. Oldy said: There is absolutley nothing which makes this anime good or exciting in any kind of way Well, again, I point to the post that you responded to. I pointed to and argued several aspects of BRS that make it interesting. No disrespect, but seriously, man, learn to argue. You can't hope to pass that off just by saying "no you're wrong just because i say so". That kind of childish tactic stops working when you're like...5. Honestly. Not cool. |

With all the hype this proyect was causing I'm dissapointed. I mean, the soundtrack was amazing and the animation was pretty decent, but the plot is... yeah, it's just as drawn: Maximatum99 said: I'm just gonna leave this here. Derp Why denied it? The plot sucks ass as a whole. If it is just a prelude then I think it's fine as it is, even great. HatchetGirl said: I've been wondering about this fight scene as well. This just proves (IMO) that there will be a sequel or a complete follow up, since not everything is explained and the ending doesn't really conclude anything; on the contrary, it's another beginning. The OVA is full of gaps that surround the plot; These which may be predictable but should need elaboration further on. It's rare for me to find something that's completely unwatchable, usually I make sure I have a pretty good idea of what to expect, so it always comes as a shock whenever it happens. I really like the song and I was expecting a cool story about Black Rock Shooter. What I got was a ton of moe girl slice of life thing with a few abstract clips that kinda had to do with the song, but really were more WTF than anything else. I'm very disappointed because so much could have been done to make the story and characters be awesome, but they just pissed it away and made the same old thing (because they were trying to pander to otaku who like moe girls?) only the same old thing they made was even worse than the normal same old thing. |

this was terrible... it reminds me of Mars of Destruction... but better (not by alot) im just gonna make a list of the cons (since there is nothing positive): -silent fighters... c'mon in what world (real or fiction) does that makes sense? -two starting points, then meet in middle... that's a no, you cant start a fight, show us how you got there, go back to the fight, show us more about getting there, back to fight, more to getting there, back to fight, finally in middle, end...apparently you can but, what the fuck? -with all the talking WHY ARE THERE STILL HOLES IN THE PLOT???... i dont buy the "hey i found bitch's charm...now im a super badass chick with a big ass gun"... literally, there was nothing solid in this story (in terms of the action scenes) -its kind of sad that the school life was more interesting than the action scenes... if im watching a show with chicks and guns and scythes and shit GIVE ME MY ACTION... they did more damage to the surroundings than each other -ending was lame as fuck... let me hug you, you push away your evil thingy, happy ending = WHAT THE FUCKITY FUCK... FUCK... FUCK FUCK WAS THAT??? all that hype for a piece of shit... i said this before but... if i wanted some bullshit, i will find me a bull and pick up his shit... 3/10 |

Really enjoyed this one as I do with Cencoroll, really want there will more short movie like this one... Something that made by pure idealism for the artist who make it, always stand in another class... "not care that things would make sense for people... this is the imagination that appear from my brain (the artist)" that what we call artist idealism. 7/10 |
