Another good episode. More of the formula for the first season.
I found it strange that Ciel didn't know who Krell was. I wonder if he lost his memory?
I don't like Trancy at all, but I guess the show needs a villian. I look forward to further plot developments.

My question of the day is why did Ciel say to Sebastian before they headed to London: " Make sure Madam Red doesn't find out I'm in town" and then he had a clearly blurry flashback with her, which made me think he doesn't remember her? In short, is she dead or what :|?

She's dead. After all, Grell had her jacket in this ep.
When Ciel said that to Sebastian, Sebastian smirked and said "Oh, I'm sure that won't be a problem" or something.. So yeah.. Feels like Sebastian is fucking with Ciel's head D:

Sebastian sure takes pleasure in screwing Ciel's mind then >:)

it seems that after he wakes up his memories are confused. He does not remember that the real queen is dead, or that he denounced his title. He has no recollection of the fact that Lau and Ranmao tried to kill him, nor does he remember Grell or the fact that Madam Red is dead. Source: Wikipedia
I totally disagree with this concept. Yana isn't that stupid to make the show too fairytail like and bring back all the dead characters.Amnesia of all the things...the show won't steep to such a low-level to integrate such a lame content.

Mostly everyone in this thread agrees with the 'Ciel amnesia' theory which is trash in my opinion.Forgetting the queen just seems too unrealistic.

My Opinion:
Episode 2 was a complete random filler-Agreed.
Episode 3 and the next are probably added to show connection between the Phantomhive and the trancy family which could also be related to the death of the Phantomhive couple (Ciel's parents).
These filler like episodes will give us info about the Trancy household and the damn Queen.

I think it's pretty obvious that all of the characters that died at the end of season 1 will return. Why? Because Kuroshitsuji is srsfcknbsns since fujoshis are dying for it, and it'd be pretty dificcult to adopt the manga later without the majority of the characters. Imo the first arc will be about the Phantomhive-Tracey rivalry, we'll get all the answers that we need, and we'll continue on the route of the manga after that.

By the way, it has been suggested that the series might run for three-cour (36-38), so even if the first arc takes 12-13 eps, there would be plenty of reamining time for the manga material.

Soo.. Ciel doesn't remember anything. At all. Doesn't remember the queen died, nor that Madam Red died and who Grell is (lol the subs said his name was "Grelle"). So, he's just lost his memories about everything that happened in season one?
I feel like the only person who actually like this storyline..

dont feel lonely... i like it too. =)

i really didnt get why people made such a fuss over things like ciel being alive, no one said he died in season 1. the only one who i though was death was lau and ran mao, but ok.

spider is definitely claude, its obvious if you pay attention to ep.1.

I hope Alois and Claude are in the next episode.:)

Yeah, I felt that too. He's acting too kind. Needs to be more demon-ish.

This was an OK episode. Grell is win win. Otherwise nothing interesting.
Liked the scenes after the credits. More Trancy and his Butler and it seems like we'll get to see Claude next episode.

Ah, I'm not sure the whole amnesia theory makes complete sense considering dead characters are now suddenly alive... hopefully it's a more interesting and unexpected plot device that comes up...

I was thinking that since the first season was set after Ciel had already spent two years with Sebastian, that maybe these last two episodes were possibly set a little bit before the first season, which would explain why Lau was alive and on good terms with Ciel. And maybe Alberlin used to have a mustache when he was younger? haha.... but since Grell had Madam Red's jacket it is definitely set after the Jack the Ripper arc.

So overall I'm still a bit confused about all of it, but I'm expecting to love all of the Tracy vs. Phantomhive episodes that are coming :D

Yep...I'm just as confused as everyone else about whether this stuff is "leftover filler" from season 1, Ciel has amnesia, it's an alternate reality, or several character were miraculously brought back to life for a reason we don't quite know yet....

Well...I guess the best way to approach this now is to pretend this is a standalone season....(not that it'll be hard to do for me....I've forgotten most of what happened in season 1 already since it's been a while since I last saw it...lol...)

i think part of it though with ciel being back, sebastian wanted a soul worthy of devouring. ciel basically commited suicide in ep 24 so sebastian wasn't fulfilled... have to bring him back and make him fiesty again. things are always sweeter after a conflict. giving up is just no fun.

I agree with Linalee-Stratos on the idea of Ciel having amnesia as being trash...it seems below Yana to come up with an over used plot device....I don't know anymore. I feel so trolled, lol.

Anyway, I support the theory that Ciel is in a dream state because in the second episode:
Ciel: Am I dreaming?
Sebastian: What is reflected in the fountain of a dream is the continuation of the story.
Lau: A transient peace is like a fruit beyond reach; it cannot be restored having been disturbed.

From Hyper Parait's blog Yana said, "After that ending, making Ciel come back to life right away would be like making all his sufferings during season one useless. We cannot just have him back to life like nothing happened....But there is one thing I can say for sure. These six months are concentrated in the line that appeared on the sash of volume 7: "Well then... Young master, open your eyes.""

To me it seems like things cannot go back to how things were in the past...the dead should stay dead and that the continuation of the story is dream-like until Ciel opens his eyes from the dream...I guess amnesia works too.

But that doesn't explain how he is going to know about Alois in his dream? @__@

I'm not a very good at making agruments...but I just wanted to throw that out there. I should just enjoy the ride that Yana and A1 is going to take us on =___=

I guess it was an alright episode, although I preferred episode 2. So far this is just seeming like random filler with the plot being Phantomhive vs. Trancy. I'm just wondering why a) Madam Red is supposedly alive now, and b) Ciel is acting like he's never seen Grell before.

So much better than last weeks. Even though it is another character reintro it had more to it and we get to see how Alois fits into things.

Ciel mentions madam red but didn't she died. Sebastian also, again mention about eating Ciel's soul. I had thought the inspector died too. Hmmm.

I hope we get some answers during this season. Plus Ciel didn't seem to recognize Grelle, he acted as if he was meeting him for the first time.

It's like you're trying to get the pieces together and when you're about to make some sense you back to square one when something just doesn't seem to fit xD
I might as well try to buil up some theories with my friends and have fun.
It's just a matter of time until we get some real answers, though i hope it won't be something lame and simple.

Grell made it all better in this ep, of course <3 oh and Undertaker. Now i can't wait till i see some Claude...too bad we'll probably have to see Alois face again, kid annoys me.

Okay, so now I'm completely lost. It's like the higurashi mind torture all over again.

I was doing well in the first episode, It made somewhat of sense. Sebastian wanted to bring Ciel back, but we didn't know what happened in the first place. In the second episode it seemed like a random filler. And why was it that everyone seemed so happy? Like nothing in season 1 happened? Now they throw this curveball of episode 3 at us, and I'm gnawing on my chair trying to make sense of it all.

I'm not going to blurt out any spoilers, but I will say this;
Because they tricked us with the release of the first episode, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled a fast one on us again. Who knows?

I dont read the manga, but I do remember people telling me Season 1 really didnt have much to do with the manga itself. So since he talks about Madame Red as if she is alive, didnt recognize Grell, good terms with Lau, is this like just another version that has nothing to do with Season 1 and they are playing it off of something else. Or am I missing something.

I'm sorry if someone's said this but:

I'm starting to think that [some of] Ciel's memories have been manipulated/lost.

Support - when he said that he's seen that "shade of red somewhere" then Mme Red (flashback) came to him..

and the way Seba said "I don't think that'll be a problem" when Ciel told him don't let Mme Red know about the Queen's (queso) order.

EDIT: I loved how Seba was all captivated by the cats... I lmao'd

I didn't like this episode, partly because...
1) I'm really confused..I mean since the beginning ever since
Ciel was "awakened" I felt like I was scammed, and I demanded an explanation
2) He doesn't remember certain things...and people...it's like some kind of a mystery

I guess I'm just impatient, it's really bugging me though, I can't happily watch an episode
when a bunch of questions are flying around in me..but hopefully..the next episode
will answer at least some of these questions..

I, personally, can't wait to see Claude (& maybe Alois, who knows..but probably not)
in the next episode. I liked the two since the beginning, even when like 70% of the
people hated the two..I find them real interesting.

I hated Alois, but then, like someone else said, maybe it's because of his fu-messed up childhood.. the trauma that warped his current state of mind. The fact that he ["might" although implied] have been [sexually] abused, and his loneliness.

All in all, considering what's shown, implied.. and might have happened, I really can't wait for the interaction between the Dog and the Spider to happen.

OK, I watched and rewatched the episode a few times, and read all the posts here, and I can almost safely say that this is NOT a parallel plot nor takes place before season 1. The main reasons I say this are:

-Ciel recognized (remotely, but did) Madame Red's overcoat, even not remembering of Grell and what happened to her.

-When Ciel was inside Sebastian's trunk, he was wearing the same clothes from the episode 24 on first season.

-This may sound stupid, but the ending theme song says "How do I live without you?" and stuff like that, so that could mean Sebastian missed Ciel for some time before bringing him back to life? And the information I have is that this song was kind of requested by Yana...

I need to agree with the memory loss rumor, and maybe the fact that Sebby revived Ciel made the people who died because of him come back to life?
Like Alberlaine (or whatever his name is), who sacrificed himself to save Ciel's life? (maybe even Madame Red? Even though I think she's still dead .-.)

OK --- I'm a little bit confused now.

OH OH and maybe they gave us some hints on season 1, like when everybody was telling Ciel that he could have a future... even the OVA makes us think that Ciel didn't really want that ending...

But why the HELL (oh yeah) did Sebby bring Ciel back? I love them but I still not understanding.
And I didn't get why his ring was inside a tea box in Trancy's mansion.
HOW THE HELL DID IT GET THERE??

>______________< yes, now I am confused a LOT with my own thoughts.

Didn't sleep well last night trying to think about that.

Or it was just too much caffeine.

Dunno. About anything. I think I forgot my name. My brains are totally overload.

The only thing. I can think about. Is. SEBAS-CHAAAAAAANNN!!! *listening to his "Ooh~~" from the preview over and over again and having nosebleeds*

I'm not sure why everyone seems to be a huge fan of Alois and Claude. I actually REALLY REALLY dislike them. They're absolutely horrid characters. I get a similar angry feeling when watching Vincent from Pandora Hearts. There is just something inherently disturbing about them and they feel like an almost insult to Sebastian and Ciel's presence.

Also, I can't even pronounce Alois name. It's Ahl-wah right? French sort of thing? Alois and Claude have to be more French than British because their names most certainly dictate such things. Their relationship is definitely sexual and that whoring child makes the anime WAY too fanservice-y.

I also believe the other name for this season is monoshitsuji if I'm not mistaken?

This episode was... confusing to say the least and I agree with a few of you. I'm wondering if Ciel just... doesn't remember. My prediction is that that New Moon Drop tea brought Ciel 'back' and he doesn't quite remember anything save for his parent's death and gaining Sebastian. I'm confused as to why he's still the Queen's dog and super super curious if this man with yellow eyes plot is gonna be season long or just an episode or two kind of thing (like the last season kind of).

I want to see more Undertaker... and I want Drochell back! So many familiar faces in this episode just make me miss the old ones more!

I'm on the bandwagon for more Alois, and Claude.

I'd really like some character development for Claude so far he just seems like an emotionless robot, while Claude is probably the most devilish characters i've seen in awhile.

Yup, this is the Kuroshitsuji I know and watched. Just Ciel and Sebastian, going around solving cases for Her Majesty.

I'm amazed at the reaction I'm seeing here. When it was first announced that season 2 will be starring two new characters instead, everyone whined and bitched that it would suck and wanted to see Ciel and Sebastian return. Now, everybody is whining and bitching why Alois and Claude aren't the main characters. Such a weird 180 degree turn by the fans *facepalms*

In the last episode's discussion, someone mentioned these next couple of episodes might be a sort of flashback sequence to how the Trancy and Phantomhive houses became aware of each other--like, how Ciel and Sebastian met Alois and Claude.

After seeing this episode, I'm definitely throwing my two-bits in with that theory. That would make sense, with everything being back to how it was during season one: like how Ciel didn't recognize Grell, how he has nothing against Lau, how the manor's not burnt down, how Ciel still seems to be after his revenge, etc. I think we can expect a timeskip back to the present, where episode 1 took place, in ep5 or 6 (or maybe ep8, according to Yana's blog).

And, OH GRELL I MISSED YOU SO~ <3
