as good a last episode as we can get i guess, really enjoyed that we saw kaoruko's pov of the whole affair. rintarou is a sweetheart, he fell for that girl no matter how dressed up she was, which is really cute imo. also i really appreciate kaoruko mentioning that she took much time and effort to dress up that cute, do her hair an makeup for him, bc lots of times (especially older animes) just pretend the girl just naturally looks like that lol. i'm still a bit sad that they didn't actually address the problems with their schools, like girl i want to know the drama!! such intense hatred and animosity has to have a reason, and i want to see that followed up.

Kaoruko pov was so so needed, perfect, everything was just perfect. BUT WHERE ARE THE FIREWORKS?!?!?! A summer festival without a fireworks scene, its a first in anime ever 😅

Also i need to get something out, because it feels weird, note that i still rated it a 10 regardless of this but the finale didn't hit as it should. Like it was still amazing and cute but it was probably the weakest episode compared to ones b4, this is the type of show that gets me screaming, rolling in bed, pausing and rewinding to see one frame, screaming again and worshiping while begging the universe to be isekaid by a truck. And the ending didnt trigger any of that wich felt weird, like it was missing something, ME PERSONALLY, I'd add fireworks at the end when she said shed take his offer and tsumugi standing up and hugging her b4 cutting to the summer scenes, to me it would make more sense

Absolute cinema—the peak of romance. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a finale with such a perfect confession.

Despite his fear, Rintarou still chose to meet Kaoruko at the beach and clearly express his feelings for her. And Kaoruko’s response, sharing her own perspective of how she met Rintarou and how she was the first to fall in love—it was undeniably beautiful.

One of the best of the season. The OP and ED, the relationship between the protagonists, how the friendships of all the characters were reflected—I loved it all. I really hope we get another season.

Hm... I don't know, for how the show flowed the entire time, this ending seem to miss the mark, like I was expecting more, and it kind of burned out like those sparklers.

Is it just me or anyone else feel that way?
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Now this was her perspective and turns out she loved him before he even loved her. Wow. This is a dub guys. This is why we take the jump.

Really solid little finale there, covering Kaoruko's perspective of her feelings for Rintaro and how she really got to know him in the first place. This did drag a little but the purity was there behind the emotions. Overall, this was a very good season of this series (shocker). A little too over-the-top at times like the manga and a couple episodes had some uneven pacing to it, but the characters were mostly endearing and most of the bigger moments hit. It's a bit too safe but it's got charm to it, and the ending for this season justified that well. Honestly, if you told me this was the very end and there was never going to be another season, this actually delivered a solid enough conclusion to it. Luckily there is a lot more to go with this so no biggie. Probably an 8/10 for now, maybe could consider a 9 with a future rewatch or with future rethinking about this adaptation.

Mostly a quick rewind what happened from Kaoru's point of view and of course the confession. Fitting last episode for a romance as this.

There were two problems I had after the first episode. One was the whole school rival thing, which luckily got dropped rather fast and only stayed a background topic instead of having actualy consequences in the second half.

The second one was why Kaoru fell in love with Rintaro, which was adressed in this last episode. What I don't like is the whole "dude can't remember meeting her" memory loss thing, which happens a lot in romance stories. There is no good explanation why he does not remember her after talking to her in the exact same spot... it's not like he talks to a lot of girls, so him forgetting this meeting is pretty unrealistic.

But overall it was a nice little show, though I don't get the hype behind it. Pretty basic romance stuff imo, 6/10.

An excellent, clean-cut, slow-burning, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

It wasn't dolled-up or fancy, nothing blew up, there was no triangle, no jealousy or backstabbing; this was just a sweet romance.

How the F do you not remember a lonely crying girl late at night in a small empty patisserie?! Does that happen often, or were you pretending to care about crying person? I mean, how else can you explain TOTALLY forgetting it happened?! Like, ok, maybe since she was distressed you forgot her face, but to forget the event entirely? Come on, stop bullshitting us show! He even works there only sometimes.

Disappointed the show had to take the cheesy route of male MC showing kindness he absolutely F-ing forgets, yet that 1 event makes the saved girl madly fall in love with the guy. Sigh... Happens only in fiction. She even had no umbrella that day and I braced myself for "he gave me ubrellah and I fell in love" BS cliché, but luckily THAT didn't happen for the 100s time in this kind of show. Almost happened, but didn't. Phew...

This rant aside, this was still a very good anime and would watch S2, definitely. Kiss at the end would've been 10/10 but didn't happen. Boooo.
Kaoruko is adorable, without question (seeing her POV was nice). Maybe way too cute at times. Same goes with way too kind Rintaro.

Side characters, I don't know... I've seen them (guys) 100s of times in other anime. Subaru was way too gloomy for my liking (not show's fault). Rintaro's parents were amazing though. Loved them.

As a number of people, I also wasn't fond of Arigato/gomennasai spam every episode either. Yeah, yeah, it's Japan thing, but be honest, there are plenty of other school/romance anime where this shit isn't as overused. It happens so often you inadvertently can't ignore it.

With that said, solid 8/10 from me. If not for Corny/Cliché moments since episode 1, I'd give a higher score but that's just me. I've seen cuter couples too. Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta (manga, not anime) remains my #1 best diabetus couple; probably followed by Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu and Takagi-san.

P.S Is it just me or Kaoruko looked less cute is Yukata? I think she looks WAAAY more attractive and adorable in casual clothes or school uniform.

P.S.S Should we be worried about Kaoruko's health btw? She was hella depressed for undisclosed reason the day the two first met, and later she mentions hospital visit. Could be because of family member, or? I mean, I'd be supper pissed if (if S2 happens) we get bitch-slapped with "Actually she has X terminal illness" bombshell, or some similar BS! This show doesn't need such random drama and will only ruin it IMO.

Wanna give this a 6 but I'm gonna be generous and give this a 7/10 instead. For such a highly rated anime I expected more.
Liked seeing Rintarou open up and his interactions with his guy friends was mostly hilarious and sometimes pretty sweet! I expected more from Kaoroku, ended up liking Subaru more lol. And of course I couldn't really ignore the arigatou/gomennasai and found it annoying at times.

And yes, as usual, the final episode ends with them attending a summer festival—just the two of them walking around in yukata or kimono—as standard! Eh, but this time there's no hanabi (fireworks) watching. And just like that, the love story between the two of them would officially begin.

Will there be a sequel? Manga readers, please confirm, is there still material that can be discussed from the manga (making it possible for a next season) or is there no more?

In closing, thank you so much CloverWorks for putting on a fantastic show!

Oh boy did Kaoruko's response take ages to come. Rintarou could have gone to buy some more takoyaki and Kaoruko would still be reminiscing about their first-first encounter by the time he came back.

And also, how come Rintarou never recalled that first encounter with Kaoruko? I mean, either he's dumb for real or the author came up with this "twist" on the spur of the moment and had no idea how to make it feel narratively consistent.
Either way, it was still a lackluster finale for me. Rintarou's "speech" before confessing didn't feel natural at all (just like most conversations in this show) and the idea of adding Kaoruko's POV wasn't really of my liking either. Mainly because it felt kinda lazy and even pointless to some extent. I mean, we already knew Kaoruko liked Rintarou first. We didn't need a summary of Ep.1-2 from her perspective to reaffirm that.

Average/OK-ish series overall. Nothing too remarkable aside from visuals, Kaoruko's cuteness and maybe the bromance within Rintarou's group of male friends.
Story was plain and the romance very textbook-like, most of the interactions between these supposed teenagers didn't feel believable and the fact of some of them getting upset for the tiniest of issues made me roll my eyes to no end.
On the good side tho, gotta say things got significantly better once the focus stopped being on the stupid grudge between schools. In that regard, episodes with just the main cast hanging out as well as the ones featuring the aquarium date and Kaoruko's birthday cake were undoubtedly enjoyable and the idea of the show's tone going from tiring melodrama to chill SoL was beyond welcome for me.

It turned out to be a pure, youthful love story. Watching all those scenes and episodes—the kind of romance everyone must have longed for—was deeply soothing. As a popular work, a next season is highly anticipated.
This time, the setting was a “O-MATSURI”. Japanese “O-MATSURI” have always had that kind of atmosphere, as seen in “Kijin Gentō-shō”. They are the spiritual homeland and soul of the Japanese people.

13 episodes were way too less for how heartwarming this series is. Wish it received a two-cour season. I wish the second season was announced.

I guess all we can do is wait and hope. "The angel next door" took its time announcing second season, so there's hope for this series too.

CloverWorks did an amazing job with this adaptation. Fun fact: I watched the whole show with my mom on the weekend and she enjoyed it a lot.

Compared to the down to earth premise, the dialogues are so cheesy, enough to make me shiver. The constant apologizing and expressing gratitude for the smallest of things might turn people off, and honestly, they're too sweet for me. This is right where I left off reading the manga last year, and I hear nothing but great things about it so I hope season 2 will be announced not so long in the future.

I was hesitant to give this an 8/10 due to the dialogues, but after giving it some thought, it deserves an 8/10... Just barely, though.

We finally got to hear the song from the trailer.

Driving 300 kmph and warping my car around a tree has never seemed better....I'm only joking my single ass :}

Man, what a perfect way to wrap up this season. That summer festival date had me grinning the whole time Kaoruko’s POV was such a beautiful touch, finally seeing how she fell for Rintarou made everything come full circle.

The confession scene was simple but so genuine, exactly what makes this series special. CloverWorks absolutely nailed the atmosphere once again, the lighting, the music, everything hit perfectly.

These two are officially one of the most wholesome couples in anime.

Now we just wait (and pray) for that S2 announcement

Love won, the episode was amazing.

Thank you very much for everything CloverWorks, thank you for giving us this beautiful work, I am going to miss this anime.

They need to announce the second season now
;(

Kauruko is super cute, all her expressions are so cute, it's impossible not to love her.

I also love Subaru and she is beautiful, I loved her character and I loved that she was able to get ahead thanks to her group.

And in this episode where we see Kaoruko watching the whole process of how she met Rintaro and did not give up and went every day, it was beautiful, the waifu of the year, it was very nice to see them together at the end declaring.

well it's over, I'm going to miss kaoru no hana, the best romance of the season

Thank you for making Saturdays where true love triumphs.
