You can even feel the big difference between the opening scene (which was written by the anime staff who've proven themselves to be really funny in the main series) and the rest of the episode, which feels like someone desperately trying to imitate Sorachi's humor (which is what the LN it's based on seems to be). I'm open to it getting better, but aside from the opening scene, I wasn't impressed with the actual episode. Timing felt slightly off, and the punchlines often weren't worthy of the build up they were given. |

| I'm not sure what I was expecting but the first ep felt kinda weak. Hope the next episodes will be better. Still loved seeing all the gang, so in the end I guess even a weak episode is a good episode. |

| The greatest manga/anime of all time is back and it's in peak form. Seeing everyone pick on shinpachi was great, the cigar gag, let's be honest it's really just nostalgia for those of us with exquisite taste but i was also happy to see baba-san at the end. Old lady was an elite character. Truly some of the best writing and best comedy of all time and I think they did it justice here. Is there a plot? Not from the looks of it, but I'm going to watch it anyways. If you haven't watched the greatest anime of all time you'd better start, otherwise people are not going to understand. |

| Gintama is back, I missed this series so much. The episode is perfect like gintama episode always is how made me laugh entire episode, already 4th wall breaks of the staff leaking precious anime behind the scenes info along many others. We are back. |

| We're [curse word] back. Brought a lot of sweets on the couch and Gintoki's action figure, drinking strawberry milk all episode long. Yeah, i was hyped to this level. Meta cold opening is exactly what i expected from these guys, and i adore they never changed. Onishi and the ape manga artist, the Dragon Ball-esque art, Gintama GT, Gintama Evolution with live action cuts... AMAZING. Princ...ipal Hata, you talked about cutting things too much, what did you expect it would have happened? Yeah. "Sogo, why did you steal my smartphone and created a dating app account?" "So you won't marry a mayonnaise bottle" LOOOOOOOL Madao is Madao and can't find a job even as a supposed teen, Hedoro gets up, doesn't tell a word, and everybody freaks out. Some things never change... and probably never should. Yes... we want Otsu, not just Shinpachi. Bring her back soon, please. Even if watching her in the OP is a good sign, i think. "are you convinced i will stay a virgin until 30 years old?" Oh, well, Sa-chan occupation makes sense in its own twisted way. Obviously Kondo was the one paying the price for it. But, of course, best part about her was watching her flirting with Ginpachi sensei even in this universe. "Stimulate me again" "i never did" "in my online fanfiction, it happened". Hata had what he deserved. "Otose, are you in episode 1 already?" "And now i will have a 10% pay bump" "WE NEVER DISCUSSED IT!" Just going quickly at the few weaker things... just 12 episodes, the class was half empty and the main plot was good but not out-loud hilarious. And i think that's just it for now. It was unexpected to watch the return of Mone and limiting her presence to randomly playing the recorder in the background, but unlike her sister (and mutsu... the only two non-antagonist characters i straight up disliked in 299 episodes seen for now) she is welcome for me. Really, really count on this show to make me put on the side a depressing midlife crisis at least for 30 minutes every week until 2026... and doubling down in the future if italian dub happens once again. |
