kind of expected this kind of trauma from Amo, but yeah since it’s airing on normal TV it had to be censored somehow. Showing everything through those colored drawings was a smart move, it looked unique and hit harder than I thought it would. It also made it clear that this is Amo’s way of coping, trying not to think too much about what happened, which honestly makes it even more disturbing than showing it directly.

I get that Amo just wants to be loved, but the way she learned what “love” means came from that pedophile who used her and called it love. That’s what messed her up. I’m glad that part of her story wrapped up here, but I’m still disappointed she didn’t go with the janitor and I’ll be even more disappointed if Jabber really killed her. Amo’s a strong character with a lot of potential, and wasting her as a plot device would be a huge mistake.

All that said, the team handled a really dark topic way better than I expected. The visuals, well at least the drawings here were great too, probably the best the show’s ever looked. Not a high bar, but still easily the best episode so far.

Didn't mention it but yeah, btw, the seiyuus killed it here.

not censored. this is exactly how the mangaka portrayed it in the manga.

The strongest episode so far and if you still aren't hooked, then I can't Help you. Btw Hanazawa's voice acting performance for Amo is a 10/10.

can someone tell why didn't they take amo with them ? I know this show isn't fallout shelter or anything but they could use her ability to there benefits and provide the help she needs even if she thinks it's safe being by herself

Because she didn't want to go. They can't force her after they just made up.

wasn't rudo also hesitant at joining with them at the start but after he saw there way of living and there goal he changed his mind?
@Ablacksuperman what you talking about rudo went with dem, she said she was gonna stay back

Yeah, poor amo. But that don't still take from last episode of Rudo didn't do anything wrong striking her multiple times...

Pure nonsense, flashbacks of flasbacks of third grade characters that will be off screen after 2eps, it doesnt matter how fucked her past was at this point, so why wasting time?

Didn't expect this show to go so dark, wow! Amo, poor girl... What a horrible mother to sell her kid to a pedo. The guy died too quickly though, such a shame.

Looks like her boots were taken away at the end, but hopefully she's alive and we'll see her again.

Despite the tragic story, I won't take my words back. Crime is a crime. She deserved the beating for almost killing Rudo and gang (previous episode). And it seems she was killing travelers and taking their goods too.

Does she deserve a better future? Absolutely. This episode made me care for her big time. I'll be pissed if she died. Even if she isn't dead though, how can she survive all alone and without boots?

This was Honestly the best of gachiakuta so far
it depicted how dark the show can really go and how it can portray such dark themes so that they would be way more effective and disturbing for the watchers/readers to watch/read. The only thing I hope is for Amo to be safe cuz I really want to see her in future episodes too. she is such a great character, she deserves happiness.

Also I don't have enough hate for that bitch mother of her who sold her own child knowing what that man would do to her.
Even after realising what her mother did to her she still tried to cope up with the situation by lying to herself (not only about her mother but that about that man too and considerd him her first love which is even more fucked up) and even told tomme in the previous episode that her mother was great mother but in reality she was not. Because of this her personality gets even more wrecked up and psychotic.

And that pedophile mother fucker got what he deserved, nah I think he should have died a lot brutally than that.

Overall the writing and direction of this episode and Amo's backstory was just really excellent.

Now THIS is how you depict CSA in a disturbing, yet respectful way, really shows how talented of a writer Kei Urana is. Compare that to the multiple SA scenes in DanDaDan that are basically just Tatsu's barely disguised fetish that the fans pretend is anything but that, i mean Momo almost gets SA'd but she basically forgets about it right afterwards, meanwhile Amo actually changed for the worse because of what she went through. And the fact that barely anyone is misunderstanding or complaining about this scene, especially in comparison to the SA scenes in DDD is another proof of that.

absolutely loved this episode and how it kept the animation the same as the manga, they way the rape and grooming was hidden in little pictures was amazing style that made it almost feel worse. knowing amo just wanted love this whole time and only knows it from her mother who abandoned her and a literal pedophile.
the crossed out she sold you goes to show how mentally messed up amo is, she doesnt want to feel the pain of what happened she wants to chalk it all up to being loved. poor girl doesnt even know what love is.
rudo and her scene was so sweet, him trying to connect and her saying you already are, like YESS show Rudo he really is becoming better!!! also her telling him he didnt need to apologize was uhmazing, so much character growth in a short time
overall loved this episode

I was quite disappointed when Amo didn't leave with the rest of them. The way they kept things PG with artistic doodles was....creative— it's pretty interesting because even though it avoids being explicit, it's just fucked up in a different way, it depicted a mind of a child that wasn't capable of understanding what was happening to them :(

This episode was adapted rather tastefully from the manga, especially Amo's backstory. I would rather they have spent longer on Rudo's apology since this moment is a rather significant part of his character growth, but it's just a minor complaint.

If you haven't noticed by now, both Amo and Rudo are rather broken and mentally unwell people. This is why Amo did terrible things to the Cleaners, and also why Rudo went too far beating Amo up. The entire point is that neither of them were close to justified. This is also why them forgiving and accepting each other is such a good bit of writing.

Rudo was spiraling into his revenge fantasy again before Amo reminded him of why he's here. Rudo came into this arc trying to get more information about Regto's killers, and left this arc understanding that there is more to life than that. Instead of being driven entirely by revenge, maybe he should become a better person first and learn to form connections with other people.

I expected the trauma as soon as I saw the trafficker and her mom. But it still felt weird and sad to watch as she got taken advantage off. I thought she was finally going to get better until that dude robber her boots again. I really wish she had went back to the cleaner hq with them though.

Very well directed episode, given its content. It was able to portray what was happening through the eyes of a child, only hitting home how sad and disturbing it really is. Considering how people were talking about it last week, I was expecting a lot worse. It really wasn't that bad.

Amo started in a bad home, just judging on how her mother spoke to her, and it only got worse after being sold off. It's easy to see why she is the way she is now. Still doesn't justify her trying to kill everyone last week.

I wonder what the goal of the angel guy is? Is he the guy who is in front of the TV wearing the other watchman gear? Is he trying to collect all the watchman gear, like the boots and the gloves?

Hopefully Amo is ok. She and Rudo were able to make amends and find common ground.

I mean graping a child is about as bad as you can get, but I'm glad it wasn't explicitly shown in a dark manner because that honestly would make the writing worse imo.
@Royalty459 No Fr what is this guy talking about .. "It really wasn't that bad" after watching an extremely small child sold into sex slavery, beat into submission, groomed, and raped repeatedly over her entire lifespan, socially isolated from others through extensive verbal abuse and psychological torture THEN potentially killed after only having moments of hope and freedom.

Mod Edit: Removed baiting.

@zaverix Easy there, tough guy. I wasn't talking about the subject matter, I was talking about is portrayal of that subject matter. I can think of two instances in two separate anime where things such as child abduction or rape were portrayed in a more disturbing way, specifically Dandadan and Goblin Slayer.

This episode single handedly made me go from not liking Amo at all (since she literally tried to murder Rudo and the gang) to being quite sympathetic with her character, I forgive you Amo you deserved better! 😭

The real monster of the episode though is arguably Amo's piece of shit mother who sold her own child to some creepy weirdo who was obviously up to no good just for some quick money.

And people tried telling me Rudo was justified for hitting Amo.. My fucking stomach is churning and I feel so sick. Amo being sold off by her own mother, groomed, raped and led to believe the abusive relationship she had with her rapist was true love is bad enough, but the fact she STILL was willing to forgive mister if he’d just let her keep the vital instruments is even sadder. This was one of the hardest to watch episodes in a long time, I knew this was a dark fantasy, but I didn’t think it’d get THIS dark.

The way they depicted Amo’s abuse as these childlike drawings to illustrate the innocence with which she viewed these things and how she’d been brainwashed into thinking that sort of interaction with an adult was normal.. I’m actually gonna throw up man. Her seiyuu performance throughout the episode was incredible, but her screaming at the pedophile keeping her captive to let her have the boots.. and her being in denial about her mom selling her off were the highlights. Incredible performance.

I just hate that he died so easily. Fell out the window and that was it, he needed to suffer the way Amo did. I really wish she’d have just gone with them, leaving her in that tower knowing everything that transpired there.. nah I actually feel sick man I can’t and then that pos showing up at the end to take her boots.. please be ok Amo. I need to watch something light rn.

It was a direct hit to the heart—I never expected Amo’s past to be this harsh. A mix of sadness, disgust, and anger… her own mother sold her like an object. What broke me the most was the animation style they used—a drawing that reflected the innocence and loss of a little girl who didn’t understand what was happening to her. For her, it felt like love, when it was anything but. The isolation, the loneliness, the detachment from everything and the inability to connect with others… it was a beautifully constructed episode, but a painful one.

Haven't felt such a multitude of strong emotions from a show in a while... I believe the last time was with Elfen Lied.

The artistic choices for conveying the feelings of Amo against the reality of what was going on served to intensify the experience of the viewer.

Gut punch after gut punch.
