This did not sell the premise of the story at all. I'm so confused why there's so much praise for this first episode. It just made it look like any other power fantasy Isekai. What a waste. This should have been a somewhat goofy episode about a delusional chunibyo who's trying to discover magic, before he gives himself brain damage, and then runs in front of oncoming traffic. They should not have done this flashback for the first episode. It doesn't even really mean anything to the audience right now, and it sets the tone of the show up to be far more serious that it should be at this point. We won't even really meat this girl from the real world in the 20 episodes they are giving us, unless they are rushing the hell out of the story. I'm almost tempted to drop this, but the following episodes have been alright so far.

the amount of 2nd hand embarrassment i felt watching this was already immense. can't imagine how much more i'd want to die in the inside going forward after this episode.

The famed Truck-kun does what is promised with the Isekai trope, and nishino getting kidnapped arc was soo not what I wanted to occur to a girl but then kageno took action like the Chuunibyou that he is to subdue the kidnappers, and he does it without any remorse like the skilled assassin he is, proclaiming himself as the famed Eminence in Shadow.

Only heard it's an edgy isekai & a girl hates a guy. Pretty much what we got.
Kageno vs exsoldier pretty cool animated tho, and lovely piano. lol he really likes crowbars, is he Nyaruko's friend?
Lots of very weird camera/edits, and might turn into usual isekais, but mc seems promising.

I feel like I just watched two different shows, both taking themselves way too seriously. This episode would have been the first 10 minutes of an episode handled by a better writer.

This series did itself a real disservice by having this as the first episode. Instead, this should've been the OVA episode that was released after the series had finished airing.

Also he is a murderer. But the show is trying to make it feel he not a villain. This episode has so clashing tones. In stead of calling cops on what he saw he took justice into his own hands, I thought we were getting a different type of Light Yagami for a sec.

cops can take 40 minutes to get there, he did it in 5

This seems pretty generic. Guess who killed the MC? Trunk-kun of course, I mean seriously? This episode felt very random and jumpy. We see one scene of him in his normal life then suddenly he was killed? ED then back to the MC but now in another world??

It started prety chill, then i heard Moonlight Sonata and was incredibly interested, this set the mood extremly well and i loved it. After the kidnaping the fight scene was prety nice too, established our new character. This anime feels very serious with it send and i hope for a lot. Also ending with Moonlight Sonata is something i canno't say no to

Interesting start. So this is the anime I see everyone going on about.

Well I got one thing from episode 1. The MC is an edgelord lmao. I'm guessing that other girl will also be reincarnated. The setting looks interesting. Like a 19th century london mixed with magic so its not a typical isekai setting. I'm looking forward to binge watching this until I catch up.

This looks like one of those isekai where I won't care about the romance side of things.

i liked it more before it got to that scene at the end. now i'm just like "what? i don't really understand"

mc wants to be strong, be the imminence in shadow. ok, got it. he was a high school guy, living what appeared to be an average life. but he was really the balaclava berserker (which is an incredible nickname), beating up thugs and what not at night. he saves his classmate from a couple of kidnapper/ransomers/wannabe rapist. but he called this classmate an "npc" earlier in the episode, which made me think he was in a video game? except at the end of the "episode" he was hit by a truck and killed...

he played beethoven on the piano during the episode. and i was like YOOOOO. that was unexpected and hit me in the feels. and then the "episode's" end credit was the same beethoven song. and i'm thinking to myself, "badass. i hope they do a different classical piano song every episode or something"

except that wasn't the entirety of the episode. and that wasn't the real ed song. and now the mc is in a victorian(?) looking setting, has magic, has an entourage of magic follower chicks, and... that's all i know

so... the initial "episode" was a 7.5 or 8/10 for me. the brief ending scene was more like a 5 or 6/10, because nothing happened or was explained, and it was so random compared to the first part of the episode. which means...

overall 7/10 first episode. we shall see how this goes. i really have no idea

Things took a strange turn towards the end. It felt so bizarre compared to the rest of the episode with the sudden isekai twist. Also, the opening felt like the opening of a completely different show. I'm not really sure what to think so far...
