Johan messing with kids.. why?!?!

Johan must've had some of his earliest memories with that Czech picture book, can we get a flashback please :)

That scene where he collapsed though was disturbing, great music to go with such a scene.

didn't liked so much the new ed, the old one have special feeling.

i'm really wondering about johan planning, or rather, what he saw in that book.

and the dieter part gave good insight about johan intentions of messing with kids.

That Johan’s reaction to the book completely surprised me, I did not expect a man like him to faint so easily no matter what was shown in that picture book. Overall very nice suspenseful episode , nothing to complain about really

Everyone who's asking what was in the book that disturbed Johan so much... Did you forget that the twins were found near the border of Czechoslovakia?

I wonder what Johan's true intentions are with the kids, and why would he tell them that he is going to be killed by Tenma (he didn't say his name directly). I wonder what Johan saw in that book that made him break down like that. Martin is a very interesting character and I hope that we get to see more of him in the series.

Well we just saw Johan in different side here I just didn’t quite expected this type of reaction from person like him. Idk but I like the ED song because it gives me creepy vibes.

But wow, I wasn't expecting a reaction like that from johan. I'm curious in knowing what that book was

What Johan has done so far was already messed up but now even convincing kids to do this whole rooftop thing to become the 'chosen one' takes it to another level.

I wonder if the shocking picture book Johan looked at is related to the ending song.

And... uh... are you serious, Tenma? Because that's like... the worst sniping position ever.

Johan freaking out over that picturebook shows us a "new" side of him. Never seen him react to anything like that. What a layered character

I wonder if by saying "it's for a friend" he's just lying so that the woman isn't weirded out, or he's talking about a part of himself?

Tenma found a spot to kill Johan. Oh well this arc is reaching it's climax. Intense!

Johan manipulates kids into commiting suicide... Can he get any lower than that?
Wonder if his panic attack when looking at the book was genuine. As it's some kind of trauma trigger or something.

So Johan also messed with the kids heads, and here I was thinking that he had a small piece of humanity left.
Also, I wonder why Johan started acting to weird, and then collapsed, after reading that book.
it was because the book is called monster and its from an czech ilustrator named Emil Šebe from prague thats where johan is from and propably that book made his second bad personality and all the pictures at the end of the episodes are from that book

Guys if you wonder why Johan passed out after seing that book its a book from prague(Johan is originnaly from prague)and this book is called Nameless Monster and in my theory that book made johans second personality and the pictures at the end of the eps are always from that book

Johan's mind games are rated E for Everyone, be it elderly, adults, or even children, none will be left behind.
Seems like Johan knew that Tenma is eventually trying to kill him.

Johan and Anna were both found on the border near Czechoslovakia, I guess he might have gotten reminded of his fucked up experience over there to have an outburst like he did. The gu who's always calm even when murdering someone finally gave out an uncharacteristic expression after all this time.

The ED has finally changed, and I dont mean that the pictures changed, it does every now and then, but now the music has changed as well.

and Tenma wanting to do it in libray is insane.. he will be seen asap when he takes out the rifle...

I searched for Emil Scherbe's book and that is the pictures in the ED. It started to make sense, although I still didn't fully understand, but Johan's actions made sense, especially the fact that he kept changing foster parents and names. But in the end he stuck to one name. It was only a matter of time until something "exploded", and that's probably why he needed Anna.

But I wonder why Johan freaked out when he read that book. Was it because he felt it was him? Or has he been read that book by someone and become affected by it?

Btw, I seriously don't like Monster's OP & ED, but especially this new ED, it's really, really bad.

Johan was so pale during his first scenes in this episode that I wondered if something's wrong with him, he looked like a corpse. Later on that changed though so maybe it was just a production error... albeit one still quite unsettling.

just what the HELL was in that book, first time seeing johan feeling something behind neutrality and a twist kind of joy? and im pretty sure he was NOT playing, or was that like, the ''monster'' inside him taking over his body........idk intrigued either way

THIS IS IT! This is the missing link. This is the episode I have been waiting for. This is the episode that ties all the loose plot strings that have accumulated in my mind so far.

Now I am almost 100% sure that Johan does not have a split personality. He is not schizophrenic. All the facts before were a reference to this. There was only one loose string considering this matter. The fact that Johan asked his sister to shoot him in the head. How could I have missed it before. The boy with a cast, Martin, explained everything. Johan wanted to be sure if there is a reason for him to live. He thought that if there was a reason for him to live, if he was actually special, there would be something meant for him to do. And if there was something important meant for him to do, he would not die until he actually accomplishes it. That is why Johan actually asked his sister to shoot him. He though that if he survived it means that he is truly special, he has a role in this world. And the role is something really meaningless. Something that would change entire humanity. It might be to instil Johan's ideology to humans. The episode explained so much.

And there is another thing. The end seems to be puzzling everyone. It was clearly stated, that the book was written by a writer from Czechoslovakia. We also know that Johan and his sister were found on the border of Czechoslovakia and Germany. it is Thus, it is logical to think that it was written by his father or caregiver. Probably the one that changed his entire personality. We might also interpret that his father "build" Johan like this. Seeing his intelligence, he wanted to make Johan perfect and follow his ideology. It is possible that nothing like that happened and his father only abused him, consequently monster was born inside Johan. It might also be a book that is just a random czechoslovakian book, that reminged him of the past which could be similar to the mentioned above.

Now let's get back to Tenma. I can't understand his motives of killing Johan inside the library. Can't he shoot him from some roof outside the library, why inside. It would not only risk his life literally or legally, which he seems not to care about, but the success of the mission it self. How does Tenma think he will shoot from a sniper there? It is not a pistol. He should be aware that there is a high possibility of guards being there. Whether they were informed about possible threat or not. It is also not like this is the only place he could shoot. There is the whole city. But this is not some kind of silly shounen. This is a really good seinen. And Tenma is not an idiot. He also doesn't rely on his emotions when taking critical logical decisions. Therefore, I am sure he has a good reason for this, or we did not understand his intentions.
@Algirdyz just wanted to let you know I look for your comments each ep cause you make me notice things I miss to see as I miss the whole point of everything every time, so thanks, 15 years from now!
