Ahhhh Takopi, a messed up story with every character having their flaws, no real villain except the parents and Takopi had to suffer the consequences πŸ˜ͺ

We will remember you Takopi πŸ™πŸ™
@KingShisui The parents are not villains, we just don't see what messed them up. This is a story very explicitly about the fact that nobody's evil.

(If I'm amnoying, sorry for being this way)

"People can be good and bad at the same time." Azuma had to literally spell it out for us. It's almost like human beings are nuanced. Don't get me wrong, some people are irredeemable monsters. But I wouldn't say this show has any character like that. Well, anyone except the parents, maybe. But it's not like they're explored that much so we don't know what skeletons they have in their closet.

I don't get it. What story was the newspaper talking about? Two missing girls? Did Shizuka kidnap her half-siblings? That'd be batshit crazy. But at least they're probably fine(?).

Oh boy. I don't know what I was expecting from the ending. Was it going to be a happy ending? Was it going to be a bad ending? Ig the reality is it ended up being bittersweet. Takopi sacrificed himself to use his camera gadget one last time. Shizuka and the others forgot about him but still remembered him and the previous timelines subconsciously. That's sad. But without the setup or any explanation, it just feels like an asspull which I feel mixed about. I guess it's the result of Takopi reusing the same photo over and over? But their shared experiences with Takopi are what saved them in the end. That stupid octopus wasn't useless after all. Either way, overall I'm still satisfied with the ending. The author could've said fuck you and given a cynical and dark ending but at the end of the day, I still prefer optimistic series over pessimistic ones. I'm just happy that Shizuka and Marina were able to become friends by the end.

Man, this anime was special. It made me feel a whole range of things. I think the only other anime that made me feel whatever this did was probably The End of Evangelion. But that was a movie while this was a 6-episode series aired over the course of 6 weeks. Safe to say, I'll really miss this show.

I really hope there will be more anime like this one in the future adapting dark and niche mangas that'd be considered unadaptable just a decade ago. I think the director said that it could've been a heavily censored stretched to a 12-episode show. I'm glad he fought to make this a 6-episode ONA with no filler and fully uncensored instead. Idk what direction we're heading with the recent censorship of the internet debacle. I'm just glad Takopi was able to dodge the axe at least. But man, I wish there will be more unconventional anime like this one that break the norms in the future.

Superb, in an age of seasonal Lloyds, Kyles and Allens this will be generational, not only do they tell an incredible story within half the usual runtime but for it to be so engaging and complete I'm awe-struck. Rip Takopi.

I shouldn't have to do this but I want to bring attention to something incredibly upsetting, there is a mob of uncultured swine out there review bombing this show, its disgusting and degenerate behavior, and we all know that fan base, its always them ffs. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and the great thing about choice is that its subjective, we shouldn't suffer review bombing because we happen to enjoy a show, ong ths community can be so infuriating.

It really dug into everyone’s trauma, depression, and pain. The way it portrayed violence and its consequences was way more powerful than I expected. I’d honestly recommend this series to anyone.

I guess "a small amount of kindness can lead to surprising changes in ppl" would be the most charitable read? that's the furthest one can get with all the adults remain fucking useless till the end.
jp really need to get over the "bully and the bully victims make up equals friends" narrative smh

also we really gonna just let shizuha take the blame for marina's dad being a whore lmao
@viooooo Jesus, my man, what is your problem with showing sympathy for the bully?

It doesn't seem like the ending is as divisive as I thought it would be like in the manga. (which the ending isn't loved over there) I actually think that this is a good ending if not a little rushed, but the pacing of the manga was horrendous in the second volume, so I guess it couldn't be helped here either. I think for a show about how people, especially children, are unable to communicate with each other, and yet try to be adults, the ending is the right message. Also, it was written during the pandemic when kids were trapped at home with their abusers and or bad parents, so they couldn't relate their struggles to their peers and understand that it's not their fault for being kids. Overall, I thought the ending was a pretty good cap to a pretty good show.

I cried for 10 minutes straight man…

There are some stories that just leave you a message that will stick with you for a long time. Takopi is one one them.

I’m happy we got a “happy” ending, with Marina and Shizuka now being friends over their shared recollection of Takopi.

Bruhh I was actually getting the vibe that takopi would sacrifice himself. But ya felt the ending was lame, they became friends because of memories with takopi but not much effort out into it and what happened to azuma and his clinic at the end?? no answers and takopi died just like that. Felt really unsatisfying

*TAKOPI NO GENZAI* πŸ†˜ πŸ˜’
A bitter sweet ending
There's no changing the past no matter how hard you try,the only one's I'll blame here are the parents, of all 3 including azumas
Both marina and kuze was a victim of the parents neglect and them abusing their children becuz of their frustration of the life they had since children couldn't retaliate against parents,
At the end we saw marina having the scar on her cheeks which means she went through every thing that happened in the original timeline The only one who I really felt bad here was takopi who had to sacrifice himself and bet on things working out at the end, although I hated his refusal to accept anything and still doesn't understand why all of this is happening but him being an alien and not understanding human emotions and hard ships make sense ina way
This 6 episodes anime being uncensored and showing everything explicitly in a time where everything from YouTube to Spotify is getting censored and is a gem and a masterpiece that we will never get in a distant future 10/10.

This is the happiest ending that Takopi could give us but he sacrificed himself for that..πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ’”πŸ’”
Marina, Shizuka, Azuma all of their lives still remains the same but they're not alone anymore. And they can still become better adults which their parents couldn't be.
Takopi's original sin will forever have a special place in my heart. But I'm never gonna watch it again, 'cause my heart just can't take it.

Hard to not feel a little emotional after an anime like this. During these 6 episodes, I was very captivated by the story and the characters because we didn't see something something like Takopi every season. When an anime like this drops, you can't just watch it and not concentrate 100% of your attention on it! This end was beautiful, maybe too beautiful for this anime, but I took it with a smile and a tear! If this anime has a lesson to tell, maybe this is this one: even if you are in the hardest and saddest situation, don't give up and try to help the person who lives the same hardest and saddest problems as you!

Love you Takopi !

Even if he dues ex machina'd all over the place, I liked the ending, and coming back to the opening after the end of the show is also fun to see what they hid in there.

I only wish that maybe the last episode was more like 46 minutes long, and we got to see the new timeline for longer, and maybe have it explained why they could still remember parts of Takopi. Aside from that 10/10 anime.

I’ve been enjoying the anime more than the manga for a while, but in the end this finale still doesn’t work for me. I do think that what it’s going for on the thematic level, that pain & trauma are often inescapable but having a support system or just people to relate to about that pain in general makes life a bit easier, is a very worthwhile one. And on a broad conceptual level, a better timeline born from Takopi actually learning what real empathy looks like is also an at least appropriate ending to the story. However, the execution leaves much to be desired.
A lot of the problem comes down to how the ending, both on a narrative and thematic level, doesn’t actually feel earned IMO. The resolution basically hinging on Takopi’s ghost whispering in people’s brains to be nicer feels much less emergent from Takopi’s own growth than the guy’s growth, and the rather quick presentation & pacing of it when combined with that fact just kinda feel like a regression into the same shallow, unnuanced feel-good world view that the show started out by criticizing.

The lack of thematic resolution also highlights narrative issues that I wouldn’t care for otherwise, like how the Time Machine being suddenly restorable is an asspull, not to mention how it undoes a lot of the stakes for everyone except Takopi, and the explanation for it, Takopi’s amnesia being undone, was itself a case of twist-itis-fueled narrative clutter.

A lot of that just kinda compounds into the end product as a whole feeling very insincere to me. There’s a lot I like here, from the base concept to the themes to the visual flourish to the sense of black comedy, but a lot of it just doesn’t cohere into a story capable of utilizing those elements to the fullest. I do get why other people like it and call it a masterpiece, but for me the story just doesn’t really work

Absolute masterpiece. I cried.

That was an incredible ending. Shizuka's breakdown hit so freaking hard. Brought to you by Ueda Reina's incredible performance.

The only thing I didn't quite understand was how they became friends so easily, so it would be nice if someone could explain, but idm it that much.

A bittersweet and heartfelt finale, and one that I will never forget.

What an adventure we went on.

I went into this anime thinking it was going to be dark, and I was right, but not that dark. Everything about this anime is so well done, the shots, the animation and the OST are all so well done. A messed up story, with a happy ending.

Thank you for everything Takopi, you will be missed.

My god, six episodes in and Takopii is still the same annoying mess he was at the start. He finally got his memories back last episode, and yet he's still going around saying things like, "DoN't YoU WaNna SeE ShIzUkA HaPPy?" Like seriously? Please for the lvoe of god, FUCKING STOP. At least Azuma showed some actual development. Meanwhile, Takopii hasn’t changed a bit, still clinging to this version of Shizuka that barely even feels like Shizuka anymore.

But ofc, since it’s the final episode and we have to force a happy ending, we somehow manage to change the mind of a literal murderer in under three minutes, because that totally makes sense. And then we reset the timeline, effectively making everything that happened completely pointless. What a joke. Oh, and somehow Marina and Shizuka magically remember Takopii after all that, just conveniently enough to give us a feel-good bonding moment at the end.

God, the show was already awful, but this ending honestly rivals disasters like Darling in the FranXX, truly. And the similarities are hard to ignore, both are carried almost entirely by their animation, with everything else falling apart. That said, I’m still genuinely curious to see where the studio goes from here. ENISHIYA is easily one of the most interesting new companies to emerge this decade. I just hope their next project actually lives up to their potential instead of being another frustrating waste of talent.

It was honestly 9/10 until the final episode. The finale was really lackluster and nonsensical. Almost felt like a cop-out, really. Basically felt like they didn't know how to end it so they just made everyone friends by magic. I wouldn't mind going back in time and actually working to change things for the better but instead it was just.. memories of Takopi. Is that how it was the manga or was this because of the 6 episode limit? Either way, overall it was great. They did amazing for just 6 episodes. Visually and auditorily it was 10/10 too.

Marina is best girl, Shizuka is an awful satellite character, a parasite, inb4 I'm hating on Shizuka, I meant awful story-wise I actually like Shizuka, I ship these two

takopii said the camera was broken so it definitely would be a plot hole if he just used himself as energy, but there's really no justifying magic or even scifi with this level of technology that is on the level of magic, you can't justify magic

so my interpretation is, takopii morph himself into that gadget and used himself as energy, we've seen takopii morph to an extent even without that specific morph gadget, like extending limbs, extracting and contracting etc.

also as for takopii status, it's kinda an open to interpretation, they seem to have no concept of death that's why they don't even know what "kill" means, so depends on you I guess, but my interpretation is he just lost his body which is just data, im assuming his consciousness just went back to his planet, I don't think he's not allowed to go back, the rules seems to have something to do with not coming back "alone" which is happy memories I guess which he now has, god damn I'm a genius

this is an 8/10 like the manga, both did some things better separately

Absolute cinema. This last episode felt like such a nice conclusion to everything that went down in the earlier episodes. Even if the case about Marina and Shizuka still remained well known in their world, it looks like every character is living life fine from the aftercredits scene, (infact, Shizuka and Marina were together) and I'm incredibly content with that conclusion.

Looks like all three characters still have a lingering memory of Takopii, but could never put their finger on it, which is so bittersweet. Takopii is a weird, naive one who tried to bring happiness to everyone but inevitably failed, yet everything worked out in the end, it seems.

Wrap it with a silk red bow. Honestly one of the best things I've watched. 5/5.

i cried from the beginning until the end man. it's very grounded in reality where nothing magically changes but the 2 of them learn to understand each other and be friends. also interestingly for them to be somehow in good terms with each other they shouldn't befriend Azume at all. it's probably best for him too cause his attachment with Shizuka wasn't healthy from the start. anyways i definitely should rewatch the anime fully in the future so i make sure i didn't miss anything. the art, the storytelling and everything was just so perfect and raw

Brooooooooo I was so happy when I read the description of the last episode, as it implied Takopi would find a way to save Shizuka, Marina and Naoki, cuz that's exactly the kind of ending I wanted to happen all along, but man did they fumble the execution.

First off, the camera being broken after killing Marina was the whole reason for this mess in the first place. The fact that Takopi could have make it work again at any time is driving me crazy. Sure he would have had to sacrifice himself, which explains why he didn't do it this entire time. But why wasn't this something he explained sooner? If not to the other characters, at least to us the viewers (through an inner monologue or something, or by trying to hint at it, but being cut off by other characters before he can finish his sentence) It would have been so much more satisfying knowing this entire time that he could do it, but at an incredibly cost. Hence why he went along with trying to find an alternative solution to solving the problem of Marina's death. It would have made it so much more impactful knowing that in the end depaite how hard they tried, the failed an hence Takopi's sacrifice was the only option in the end.

BUT THAT'S NOT EVEN TRUE. Cuz remember how that clock on his home planet still exists?!! Naoki even mentions it again in this episode. Heck he basically straight up tells Takopi, to use it to go back in time.

But the dumb octopus doesn't.

And even if the author wanted to still go the route of using the camera again, just say Naoki somehow managed to fix it. Does it make sense? No. But still more satisfying than what we got. You could even say Naoki wasn't able to perfectly fix, and that's why Takopi has to power it by sacrificing himself. But at least it would mean that Takopi couldn't have done it way earlier.

And speaking of things that don't make sense. How tf does Marina remember Takopi???? I get that the story is trying to hint at the fact that deep down Shizuka and Marina still remember him despite the time being reversed. Shizuka I can somewhat understand, since she met Takopi when she was in elementary school. BUT MARINA HASN'T MET TAKOPI YET??!?!?!? It's not until middle school that she remembers him. Are you telling me, she somehow has her memories of her older self from the previous timeline??? I'm sorry but that makes no sense whatsoever.

And it's not even like it was established before that you could regain your memories of a previous timeline after time is reversed. That would have been neat, like if Takopi had lost his memories due to time travel but eventually regained them. But remember, that's not what happened, cuz Takopi's mom erasering his memories was the reason he had lost them, not time travel itself.

Honestly, if only these two things (making the camera work and regaining your memories from previous timelimes) would have been foreshadowed in earlier episodes, it would have made this ending truly great. But without any foreshadowing, it just seems like these plot points were pulled out of thin air, which is just disappointing cuz it could have been done so much better.

Other than that, I find it weird that Marina and Shizuka are suddenly all friendly with each other now. But then again, it's not like there was a happy gadget that could have made them make up with each other... oh wait.

All in all, Episode 6 couldn't live up to the peak that was episode 5 imo. Imma probably still leave my rating of this anime at 10/10, cuz that's just how highly I think of the first 5 episodes. But know that right now as I'm writing this, I wanna knock it down to 9 so badly, just for the wasted potential in this episode alone. But it gave me a happy ending, so I'll be nice.
