Loved this movie. I'm not the biggest fan of the series, but anyone who has enjoyed the previous seasons and is used to the shounen tropes and logic of this series is more than accustomed to cringing at some stuff. Overall, though, you stick with the series because of the animation, the proper execution of many scenes, and the good emotional backstories for many villains.

The action was constant in this movie, more so than in any other movie I’ve ever seen. Most of it was just fine, our average standard for the series, which means it’s way better than most of the garbage out there (not hard). Shinobu’s fight was good, but I couldn’t get much attachment to her dying. It’s a pity, because I knew long ago she would die like that from manga spoilers, and I expected that when I came here, it would sting more—but it didn’t, because she sadly wasn’t that prominent a character.

Giyuu, on the other hand, if he had died, I would have felt proper emotions, like I did for Rengoku. So her fight was good, but honestly, it felt like just the film warming up. Zenitsu’s fight was passable. Sorry, but the movie just info-drops all that backstory for a piece-of-shit character (Zenitsu’s brother), and I don’t really feel much for Zenitsu either outside of comedic relief. So that fight was fine, but I was watching it thinking that the movie really needed to start getting things going.

And so it did!

The last third of the movie was Akaza’s fight, chef’s kiss. I’ve grown fonder of him as a villain (same for Upper Moon 2). These are villains you enjoy seeing, not the garbage of the Upper Moon 4 and 5 villains (the 6th from S2 was also great!). This fight was very lengthy, going crazy from the start, having some slower scenes, and then diving into Akaza’s backstory. This is a problem the series—and many shounen—have: lack of foresight, which sometimes gives the vibe that the writer is pulling things out of their arse as they envision these fights, rather than planting the seeds earlier (SHOCKING, I CANT BELIEVE IT...).

But here, I don’t think it ruined it for me. There had already been more than enough action, so slowing things down and getting some emotions flowing was great. I already enjoyed Akaza after seeing him trash the other Upper Moons, but this made me really connect with him and feel the impact of his sins and his resolution to end his life after surviving to the extreme. This was the emotional weight I wanted to see, and that makes me care about this series, because fights and action will only carry you so far. This was an excellent ending to Akaza’s character.

I was also fine with Tanjiro’s understanding of the transparent world stuff. It’s shounen logic, but it’s presented well enough that you can mostly accept it (also good to see his dad more).

Explosive ending for the first movie. Action-wise, it’s better than Mugen Train. I might have felt Rengoku’s death more than Akaza’s resolution, but the writer did a good thing pairing Tanjiro with Giyuu. They have this mentor-and-disciple relationship going, and this was the perfect spotlight for this movie.

Movie 2 might be around 2 years away, but I’m pleased with what we got and not worried. I might check the manga to see how the adaptation was—if they expanded too much or rushed things—but otherwise, I’m waiting to finish this series with the movies. If Ufotable keeps at it, they will certainly nail it.

9.3/10 = 9

(I got everything I wanted from this movie, next two will be on cinema as well, it is a sin on first watch, not to see this kind of animation and Kajiura's OSTs, on a big screen.

Not used to seeing a lot of cosplay were I live, but outside the theather, there were a lot of younger people (not that I m that old), cosplaying the characters, I found that both endearing but also a bit cringe, cuz I feel some people live this ship way too much, when this is far from being a Madoka Magica, TGGL or Code Geass, or even more recently Attackl on Titan S3 and 86.

Hearing people call this masterpiece also strikes me was wrong, usuallly those sort of people just have not watched that much, that they think this is DEEP, 10/10, guys, they are enough better series out there, animation is not everything either.

That said, a lot of people on other hand like to hate on the series, because they cant stand how popular it is, you just need to look to them whinning, creating new threads on these forums... this series and this movie might not be the smartest cookie in the jar, the most sublime and thoughful story, but it has enough heart and a masterful production team that delivers on stelar direction of many scenes, and manages to make you care enough, for the most part, if you can bypass the shounen nature of the series... and if you cant, then stop watching the series already, you will never like it, and are only doing so cuz you need to have something to hate on, pitiful.)

8/10.

Gotta say, the animation and soundtrack are once again great (although there was a lot of cgi in the movie) but the pacing is all over the place. The first half of the movie (Shinobu/Zenitsu) is amazing but once we enter the Akaza fight it becomes very, very slow.
In terms of pace, it almost felt like there was a "movie" adaptation first and then the flashback was just 2 whole anime episodes. Lots of cuts during the action too that disrupted the flow of the fight (Tanjiro took like 10 minutes doing monologues of the State of Flow).

Regardless, it was very enjoyable and clearly the introduction of the only good arc in this series. The second movie should be the best thing out of KnY, so I am looking forward to that one (I assume the third one is just the final fight alone).

I don’t even like Demon Slayer that much myself but this movie was great, a solid 8.5/10 from me. Fights were good, animation is great, and the backstories are good. I found it to be a very simplistic sort of plot but sometimes that’s okay too.

Didn't think it was possible, but they actually made me forgive akaza. I understand why they made his back story so long. Im starting to think, muzan makes all the demons evil when there turned. Akaza didnt even get a say. Now i understand why tanjiro aways smells a hint of kindness from the demons he slays. All I can say, this is gonna be a heavy wait for the next movies.

Just watched (on a night session) here in Brazil. I've "marathoned" all seasons and Mugen Train movie PTBR dubbed to familiarize myself with brazilian voices (premiere day is/was only dubbed available in my region)...

And I gotta say: I was mindblown in 80% of the movie; the animation, the backstories (both of Shinobu and Akaza) that hit hard, the humor in Tanjiro's faces and last but not least, Tanjiro
(Yeah, I'm a son late 90's DBZ generation in BR) and Zenitsu
, were the highlights for me.

A big shoutout for the beautiful adaptation of brazilian dubbing team, specially: Fábio Lucindo (Douma) and Charles Emmanuel (Akaza)

Now all is left is to wait for the next ones

They did Zenitsu's fight justice too, and Shinobu's death is just as tragic as the first time

Absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking. That is to say even relatively to the series itself, the animation just hits a new high and it's so complacent to the eyes you're just glad to be alive to feel it.
That said, the big problem this movie suffers unilke mugen train is indeed the pacing and segmented fights. It's not a disappointment by any means but this does drag down the movie's expected 10 rating (expected by me) to a 9.3. Yes, it's only -0.7 points since i believe the purpose of the movie is well achieved and in my opinion the epics of the experience carry the movie that much.
Storywise, it's better, like much much better. Yes i didn't really like season's 3 story arcs for the characters, and in season 4 i kind of stopped caring. Glad to say this movie made me care about them characters again, honestly not with Doma but with Zenitsu's rival AND of course the star of the show, Akaza.
Having said that, I can't wait for the 2nd movie. I really hope they don't mess up with the segmneted problem as i said since it really has that potential of a masterpiece. I can bare it one time and even appreciate it at a certain point, but i hope for the best, of course.

@Marinate1016 have always loved him. When he was introduced i considered him really interesting because where every villain before have been really intent on killing the heroes, he was the first that was actively trying not to. He even tried to save Rengoku. Twisted logic, but still

Shinobu: (pure speculation) shouldn't have absorbed me probably

Zenitsu: I one-shot your ass

Giyu: Stop talking to me

Tanjiro: FLOW STATE

Akaza: I no demon no more.

Movie overall: Infinity castle design is phenomenal. Giyu unlocking his mark was the hype moment for me. Lots of flashbacks/backstory, could have been better implemented, but not terrible. Akaza's backstory was long, but his character deserved every second of it. Came for the action stayed for the emotion.

I just finished the English version, and I loved it. Akaza's flashback hurt me even more than the manga version.

RIP Shinobu. It was tough to watch her struggling against Douma. Kanao's scream hurt.

Zenitsu's fight was cool. The way it ended felt a bit sudden, but I still enjoyed the fight.

Trying to map out the infinity castle looks painfully difficult. Especially when it keeps expanding and changing.

This was the first time I've watched Demon slayer in cinemas, so it made for a different experience compared to watching it on my computer monitor. XD

It was longer than I thought it would be, but holy hell it was exhilarating and enjoyable. When you think you can't praise the production values from ufotable any more, they step up another gear just for the hell of it. Some of the big fights were a visual treat for the eyes, backed up by the excellent sound effects and the top tier voice acting.

Shinobu being killed off was something that I didn't expect and it's sad to see that happen to her. Doma proved to be a deadly threat and despite Shinobu giving everything she had, it wasn't enough to stop him from ending her. Kanao arriving and then reacting horribly to her mentor's death was a gut punch to the feels. =(

Zenitsu also did a great job in his fight, especially as he's able to use a move that's not a first form. The send off from his old master shortly after his win made for a touching moment.

For me, the biggest surprise was Akaza. I always thought of him as being a strong, but arrogant and cocky bastard, but his long backstory and his path of redemption made me do a near 180 on how I feel about him. You can't deny how strong he is when he's able to keep up with both Tanjiro and Tomioka at their best, but how the whole fight went was such a rollercoaster that putting my thoughts into words while typing this doesn't feel like I'm doing it justice. Sure, it does rely on some classic tropes, but it was done really well that I don't mind it at all.

Overall, Infinity Castle was excellent from start to finish. The wait for the 2nd movie will be VERY worth it, that's I'm certain of.

This will be a long af review of the first film so if manga readers want my view here it is. Your a real one if you read all of my review. Its more for the die hard fans of demon slayer

Firstly I have to see to the literal dumb mf's complaining this movie felt incomplete... ITS A TRILOGY OF COURSE THE BLOODY MOVIE ISN'T FINISHED YOU DUMB MF.

Next I wanna start buy talking about the voice acting, due to a technical difficulty in my theatre I had to watch this in dubbed. Now im not one to hate on dub but I watched the last movie and 4 seasons all in sub and personally feel that the sub has far more passion behind it. HOWEVER I will say one thing. Kaigaku, I personally found his dubbed VA was absolutely phenomenal and genuinely far superior to his subbed one. I stand by that wholeheartedly.

Addressing one other complaint that the movie had too many backstory's. Yeah I honestly do understand why that complaint was brought up but I mean man in this arc its kinda hard not to have them even if they kinda cut through certain fights.

The start of the movie was absolutely amazing, aimers soundtrack mixed with the sudden burning desperation of the corps captured the severity of the situation perfectly, the slayers being overwhelmed by demons, the hashira struggling to stay together Tanjiro falling into the castle. All done beautifully.

There was a lot of anime original content but it was all used to beautifully expand upon certain events. For example the situation of the Hashira being protected by the regular slayers. Essentially once again detailing how they want the Hashira to save their strength for the moons and Muzan. Plus also the expansion upon Kiriya and his sisters mapping out the infinity castle was all done amazingly. Particularly I wanna point out the idea behind a anime original concept where the crows through Yuishiro's blood demon art could see pulsations from demons the stronger the pulsation the stronger the blood demon art. This concept is foreign to the manga and something brought into the anime.

They mentioned the existence of 5 blood demon arts which stood above the rest. Kokushibo, Akaza, Douma, Nakime and Kaigaku. It essentially served to show us the looming threats. I was a little confused why it was 5 and not 6 but im stupid obviously they hadn't at this point located Muzan.

Small side note the few moments between Obanai and Mitsuri were so god dam cute, the way they well and grabbed each other was adorable.

Now to talk about the animation it was absolutely phenomenal and like nothing ever seen before in this anime, particularly the lighting and way the done the movements behind the castle were so unbelievably stunning it blew me away. To quickly talk about one particular detail which stood out during the scene with Kaigaku's confrontation with Kokushibo, they added a shot were he was looking down on Kaigaku. It was in the manga but they changed a detail to add the moon shining behind Kokushibo. Obviously it was night-time so naturally the moon would be out but I know for a fact every manga reader could catch the symbolism behind that.

I can't mention anything due to spoilers but what an amazing little sneaky detail added for Kokushibo their. They definitely threw that in for the manga readers to giggle at.

Finally to mention the meat of this movie the 3 main fights. I will quickly mention some of the smaller fights with random demons had phenomenal animation. I will start by saying I personally stand by all three main fights being 1000x better than anything in the past seasons and yes that does include Tengen vs Gyutaro. Starting with Douma vs Shinobu it was done complete justice. Douma's lotus ice demon art was gorgeously animated and so was Shinobu's insect breathing, some people said the fight was kinda weak but the fights incomplete so there isn't room for complaint honestly. Also a nice little sneak peak into Kanao's flower breathing it was very pretty. Shinobu had a absolutely dignified end goodbye to my goat and the best hashira. (Stfu yes I think she's the best hashira)

Now to speak about Kaigaku vs Zenitsu, this was phenomenal, I actually think this might be the first sword fight we have gotten in this anime between a Slayer and a Demon and man it was literally incredible. Honestly in some aspects I liked it more than Akaza's fight. Kaigaku's thunder breathing looked phenomenal and also to the people complaining that the fight had Zenitsu getting fried to much go re read the manga and you will realise Kaigaku absolutely destroyed Zenitsu in this fight. People seem to act like Zenitsu dominated the fight because of Flaming thunder god but NO Zentisu literally got himself killed in this fight. If Yuishiro never showed up he would have actually died. To also talk about Flaming thunder god it was done justice and far beyond that absolutely gorgeous technique. They cut a line of Zentisu saying "sorry gramps this is were I leave you behind" I was kinda sad by that but they kept the brother line in so I can't complain at all.

Now to finally talk about the main event Akaza vs Giyu and Tanjiro (Aka Akaza vs Giyu since Tanjiro practically just spectated the fight). I will say I have one small complaint behind this fight and its that they put Giyu in the frontline so hard it felt like Tanjiro wasn't even in the fight until the last few moments. I get it Tanjiro by this point wasn't on Giyu's level but man I hoped from more with him. He had good moments but I wanted more. That's my only complaint other than that this fight was phenomenal. Im pretty sure they slightly remixed Akaza's theme and man it made the fight so intense. Giyu and Akaza were quite literally fighting all over the castle it was a literal spectacle to see. It actually was so good it makes Gyutaro vs Tengen look bad. Thats how much better it was than anything prior. Particularly certain techniques of Akaza's like chaotic afterglow or his leg forms were gorgeous and they was destructive death blends with Giyu's water breathing was incredible. The transparant world, Selfless state were also so beautifully done, Tanjiro's final technique he uses to finish Akaza was awesome. They partially extended the memory leading up to Tanjiro unlocking the transparent world which kinda felt unnecessary honestly.

Overall all 3 fights were incredible. These 2 fights were extremely fast paced more so than anything prior. Like their was next to no slow motion movements in this fight. In fact some of it was so fast it was hard to keep up with the movements. Also to finally mention Akaza's backstory it was also done justice, it was heavily expanded on perfectly. I couldn't get much emotion out of it cause I watched it in Dub but it was done perfectly. As such Akaza's final moments were done well too.

The movie ended on basically updating us on everyone's condition plus giving us Kokushibo and Douma's reaction to the death of Akaza. Which in tern kinda acted as a tease for movie two.

Funnily enough the movie basically ended the same way season 4 did with Muzan yapping about how he's gonna slaughter everyone. It wasn't bad just idk I found that funny. I also like how at the end the Nakime basically tripled the size of the castle. She pretty much just rage baited Kiriya. Like dude you mapped my house out nice... now map this out mf. Nakime just giggling slingshotting everyone around

I will also point out the pacing off the movie felt a little weird, but I think that may be just because obviously its a part of a trilogy and a lot of stuff was left unfinished to be answered/shown in the next movie

Overall this currently stands as the best piece of media demon slayer has funnily enough when all is said and done this may be the weakest of the 3 movies or I at least know for a fact the second movie will be FAR better than this idk about the third how they handle that is completely up in the air.

Again I can't help pointing out the shot of Kokushibo with the moon behind him. That was such a phenomenal detail for us manga readers to pick up on
Overall rating 12/10

Great movie!!

Finally after the shambles of the Hashira training arc, we finally get to the most important arc so far!!

Fight scenes, visuals, music and characters were spot on! I really enjoyed the movie.

If I had anything bad to say about it, it would be the release. Like come on can't we just get a global release?? Why do we have to wait like 5 months so everyone else can watch it?

I can't wait to watch the next two!

This movie really has advantages and disadvantages.

Now the star of the movie to everyone’s surprise: Akaza. To me, he is the best written character in Demon Slayer. The guy went through Obito’s arc from naruto but much more relatable and harder in some way. You would start disliking him for what he did to rongoku i MT. But man, does he somehow change that. It’s so hard for any writer to make you change your feelings from hate to love, but somehow this did it.

Ironically the heroes would have lost but well… Akaza my man.

The story was good, it dragged on a little too much in some parts but the fights were really good. Shinobu’s death was very shocking and disturbing, sad that she died
