Okay, so I'm a grown up man so I should be expected to know that Marina is also just another victim in the cycle of abuse who deserves a new loving family without a cheating bitch of a father and a psychopathic control freak of a mother, but I'm just saying, I don't complain that she is dead and I don't feel sorry for her. Rest in peperoni Marina, you won't be missed.

Welp, Marina died. It's kinda uncomfortable people are happy she's dead, and I can understand why at least, but is no one gonna talk about her piece of sh*t dad and Shizkuka's mom? In my opinion those two are the real villains of the story.
Good episode once again. I'm excited to see where we go from here. 5/5
@Eternal_m00n Let's not forget about Marina's mom, who it looks like decides to take her marriage frustrations out on her child instead of dealing with her husband.

Woke up, only thing on my mind today was wanting Marina and her mother brutally murdered, what’s wrong with me? I derived tremendous pleasure from today’s episode and left with a smile in my face. Great way to end the 4th of July seasonals.

I’m sorry, I tried to have sympathy for Marina but I just can’t. Yea she got abused, yea her mother and father are pieces of shit who should die, but ultimately your actions are your own. A lot of mfs get abused at home and don’t go try to kill people, get people’s dogs killed and all the other nasty shit she did. Shit, I know a few of em myself, they’d act out in class and maybe say some wild shit on Xbox live, but Marina’s actions were repeatedly and consistently horrific. She was irredeemable and seeing Takopi take her life made me happy.

Speaking of which, I was about at my breaking point with Takopi because his refusal to accept how horrible Marina was and how she’s never going to change no matter how many times he loops was making me so angry. And the fact he just let Shizuka go off into the forest with her and get her ass beat while he’s daydreaming about this being a fucking magical girl show and them making up. About time he realized he’s a fucking alien and can help defend Shizuka. Running from a bully won’t change them, punching them in the mouth will.

Also we finally saw Shizuka’s mom who, as you can imagine, is a piece of shit too. You wearing nice clothes and earrings and ya daughter ain’t got nothing to eat, wearing rags and living at home by herself. Didn’t even make eye contact with her or ask how her day went. All the parents need to die in a car accident. Since they all wanna be messy and prioritise sex over their own kids, let em burn to death.

Idk man this show brings the inner dark and twisted out of me which is a testament to how well written it is. I’m guessing this episode had a different director than the first too because the direction was noticeably different, no letterboxd effect either. Can’t wait to see how things go with no more do overs.
@Marinate1016 Bruh, you almost predicted this episode wtf?

Wooo!

Never thought I would get excited over someone dying since Mahito from JJK S2 when he ended up crying, whining like a baby.

Shizuka smiling in the end was so worth Marina dying, Takopi you just did her a favor she'll never forget and love to death

Oh my God! What did I just witness with my own eyes???

When Marina-chan died, a cheerful song started playing! Shizuka was overjoyed! As if it wasn’t even a murder in the first place!

At the same time, Marina-chan is aggressively violent—she won’t stop hurting Shizuka.

And Shizuka is the complete opposite—any problem she faces ends in an attempted suicide!

Now the camera isn’t working… What’s going to happen? My head is about to explode.

In my comment on episode one, I talked about the ethical dilemmas in this show! For example, was the killing in this episode justified or not? It’s a philosophical debate—and if we start discussing it, we won’t be able to stop… Anyway! Let’s wait for episode three!

WTF did I just watch... I was not expecting Takopi killing a child, it was absolutely brutal... Even tho I hate bully and Marina from my heart, death is not a good option. And the presentation, with the artstyle, music, voice, facial expression made it just even worse.

And to make things worse, Takopi's time machine is broken and he can't change things now.

Did not expect Marina to get killed. I'm kind of shocked that people are rejoicing in her death though. Like, she's a terrible, horrendous, disgusting bully and all, but death? That's reserved for the worst of the worst. This is not what I think the show was trying to make you feel about her dying. It's supposed to be royally messed up. Not to mention that she is hardly the root of the larger issue and more of a symptom/result (I'm looking at those sorry excuses for parents). This context doesn't excuse her actions of course. Didn't think this anime could get even darker than the 1st ep. The happy/triumphant music selection juxtaposed with Marina's death was perfect in creating that disturbing feeling of horror when Shizuka rejoiced. Interested to see where the story goes from here. 4/5.

Man, screw the adults from this anime. They are the real villains here, not Marina. As much as I want to hate her for being a cruel bully, she's also a victim in this situation.

Interesting to see, how much the parents at fault but even the teachers and the school. She is clearly bullied, her desk is a great proof, she was beaten in front of a teacher and seemingly nothing happened except Marina stopped beating her. (Even more interesting, if this can actually happen in the oh my so polite clean and nice Japan.) In the dog attack nobody cared for Shizuka being beaten, and ofc she didn't say anything because she learned a long ago nobody believes her or even cares.

But most interesting is: where is the line? How much hurt can someone inflict on others even trying to push them to suicide in a pre meditated manner, or beating them to death, stabbing them in the eye etc. before that person's own victimhood stops being a Get out of jail free card?

I feel what the story is trying to tell is that the real evil is in the bystanders who are ignoring all the signs, the teacher, the classmates and the parents who are failing to see that there is a problem.

Really interesting. Takopii is extremely naive, he's a pure child and maybe even an idealization of childhood's innocence. He barely understands homicide, but he knows that it's terribly wrong. And yet, out of all things he did, it's exactly killing Marina that made Shizuka the most happy. Not making up with her and talking it out, straight-up murdering her! I wonder how will that impact the way he sees the world. "Original Sin" kinda implies he committed more after that...

The contrast between Marina's dead body and Shizuka's overwhelming joy. Takopii's horror when he realizes the camera doesn't work anymore, and the realization that he made Shizuka really happy, all the while Vivaldi's Spring plays in the background. It's all so haunting. I really can't wait to see where the plot will go. The time machine's broken, so from now on, whatever happens, happens.

btw y'all celebrating a child's death lack in human empathy

There is no convincing me this little shit is not a Kuma Arc celestial dragon, forget about Gabi, Mami is basically a saint now, and depending on the day I might be willing to forgive Rachel over this lil menace. Plotting to this degree at this age is nasty work, now we got dogs catching strays.

Lil bro busted her skull with a camera. That camera is built differently bro.

I am surprised the camera broke, tho. I knew Takopi would kill the bully girl eventually because she can't be reasoned with, but I didn't expect the time travel power just to go away. Now they will have to deal with the aftermath of her death.

I wonder how this will go, tho. Not only would this be a self-defense case, but it would also involve the two kids. Normally, it's the teachers and principal who would answer to authorities for allowing such behavior to happen under their eyes, but the murder also happened outside of the school boundary.

Yeahhhhhh go my boy takopi. I've never felt these many emotions in a long time. I cannot be more happy and conflicted at the same time from the outcome. (Marina has pissed me off more than any anime character out there, and her saying Shizuka should khs 👎🏻👎🏻 and got payback a little to quickly )

@Eternal_m00n I thought she might be more sympathetic after seeing the ending of the first episode, but the way she's hellbent on tormenting Shizuka this episode is just ridiculous. That girl is way too vile and evil for any sympathy.

Changing time never goes well, no matter how many times takopi travelled back in time, she kept on finding them. And now we have the backstory to what happened with Chappy. Feel bad for takopi as well, can't do anything since he's basically helpless and has to witness Shizuka getting bullied to the max.

That ending though, scared to see what will happen next episode

The ending had me laughing at least lol, idk if that is just me being heartless or not. Wasn't really into most of the episode's stuff but that at least was different and with only 4 episodes to go given how short the series is, a lot can still happen and change in an instant.
@animejas Nah, the anime is intentionally narrated in such a way. It's to showcase how Alien Takopi's view is of human society and issues.

Holy fuck that was even more disturbing than the first. I can't see there not being a do-over eventually, cause I don't think Marina is truly dead in the story yet. Takopi is gonna get the wrong idea, and it scares me.

Well, that goes to show what a twisted society we're all in. Parents negleting their duties, teachers turning a blind eye, kids left alone facing fears, abuse and pain too big for their mind, so they end up becoming victims with no help and wrong doers beyond reach of justice.
No wonder death appears as a solution for poor Shizuka and most of us.

Great episode anyway, I just can't wait to see what's gonna happen next now that time travel is out of Takopi options. I hope Chappy is alive though

...Well, now!

I had a feeling Takopi's "original sin" would indeed be THAT, but I wasn't expecting it to happen until near the end of the story.

Four episodes left and I have no idea what's coming next. The status quo has been thoroughly shattered. I love this anime and I'm so glad I'm watching it with zero knowledge of the manga. :D

This anime is a difficult watch, but in the best way. It's an incredible depiction of the cruel cycle of abuse, with Marina taking out her anger from a miserable home life on someone she sees as responsible.

Takopi finally made Shizuka smile, though definitely not how he intended to. I wonder what effect this will have on his mental state, maybe he'll start doing more bad things to try and help her.

P.S. Random aside, but Chappy kinda reminded me of Danny in JoJo. Except this was much more depressing...

Guys I don't believe this show has enough subtlety to handle something so morally grey... Like already first episode works really well but is pretty maniqueistic when it comes to portraying bullying, and now no black on white view will be enough for the path the story's taken. The only saving grace is that the tone is purposefully simplified since we're most of the time viewing the world through the eyes of a naive alien octupus, so maybe it can still work in that perspective. Anyways, hope this goes well and the distorted perspective Shizuka has nurtured through suffering and rejection is well-explored, but I don't have my hopes too high up.

YOOOOO WHAT!?! The octopus alien is strong af!!!? BUT ALSO WTF!?!?!?!? 🤯 Here I thought Takopi's original sin was letting Shizuka die and that this anime was about slowly fixing everything through time travel (like in Re:Zero). But turns out Marina's death is a canon event now!? Did not see that coming at all. But if there's no way to reverse that, then I don't think this anime is heading for a happy end at all. Shizuka or her mom will probably be blamed for the murder and things are just gonna keep getting worse from now on. ☹️

I did feel a little bad at the end of the first episode for Marina, cuz of how her mom treated her. Clearly the adults are at fault here for either not caring about the children (both the teachers and Shizuka's mom) or for lashing out at them (Marina's mom). While that explains why Marina treats Shizuka the way she does, it doesn't make it any less wrong. Even if death was maybe a bit much, Marina definitely deserved some sort of serious consequence for all she had done to Shizuka. In a way, she had it coming. Let this be a lesson to everyone out there. Don't bully people. Cuz if they snap, you will be the first to go down. Instead, treat other people the way you want to be treated. That way the world will be a better place!
