Tu Bian Yingxiong X Episode 12 Discussion

Quick question on a bit of the conflict, (I might have missed something or I’m just being stupid). In the episode Boa listens to the news and it states that from apparent insider information Queen tried to use Lucky Cyan to give her the edge on Boa but how would anyone believe this as Queen lost to X so she couldn’t have been using Lucky Cyan unless they are stating that she tried to use Lucky Cyans power on Boa alone rather than the whole tournament which in turn would have made her fail as she never got to fight Boa.

So this was the fight that we would have got for the Hero tournament between Bowa and Queen if X wasn't there..they went all out with the animation.❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥
I'm kinda confused. We saw Queen getting defeated by X in the year 38 after commission and the hero tournament again happens in the same year how's that !?

I wish they could show more of the evil organization that fuels FEAR. But nonetheless good episode!

@Rom-Com_lover I love how you complained about this car and forgot that they made a 2D animated car which is a rare thing to see these days.

I am confused. This episode was rather subpar (actually, I think it was bad but I do not want to be overly critical). Yet people are calling it peak cinema? What was so peak? - the fact that we got 4-minute-long repetition of scenes we've already seen an episode or two prior? and then 8-minute-long fight? Not to mention that Bowa as a villain was very disappointing - she was made into just a dumb pathetic woman archetype who is jealous of the other woman, hence only fights and blames this other woman. Whereas she could have been much more interesting.
Even compared to Old E-soul vs New E-soul narrative, we barely got to know anything about the old E-soul but we knew he had his own personal boundaries and he acted in accordance to them and once he didn't that was his downfall, which I think made him pretty interesting and he wasn't even a villain... But Bowa got introduced as a proud woman character who could inspire other women to become heroes. She could have followed in that direction, keeping her pride and confidence while posing as a healthy competition to Queen. Instead she got discarded as the most pathetic envy-driven self-pittying character no one gives a fvck about (possibly to enforce the 'darkness consuming people' narrative). I mean, she was clearly written to be discarded so why waste time on a character when they could write her as just a stereotype, right?
The good thing about this episode (aside from the animation which has been consistently good) was that Queen grew up a bit from being an individualistic person to someone who is open to a friendship with Cyan. They only showed that in like 1 minute of screen time though, so it felt rather rushed, thus didn't have such a strong impact (again, wasted potential).

Somehow, I feel that because the series started strong we are now hyping it solely for what didn't drop in quality - the animation. I would much rather the animation was lower quality but I got some actual substance (like in the first two arcs).

And yes, I do expect people disagreeing with me. I realise I am being very critical. You can for sure enjoy this episode. I just personally wanted to outline why I don't feel good about it in the sea of comments heavily prising it.

Queen lost to X in the 18th HAC tournament (which took place in Year 36 AC)
Queen made a comeback in Year 38 AC,(Probably a time skip to 1 day before)
the 19Th HAC tournament took place where Queen could not fight due to getting injured by fighting Bowa

The Bowa vs Queen battle was like something out of the fate series. Overall, I liked the episode. Investigations into the identity of x are still ongoing.

Well, TBATE is a pre-existing IP with a pre-existing fan base, plus so many anime 'fans' are snobs regarding anything even remotely non-Japanese.

@Paulternative Isn't TBATE completely Non Japanese? Heck it's originally an English WN, so it isn't even Korean (tho the writer is Korean, he wrote in English, with American Citizenship). But it has more viewership just cuz it's like an insanely popular web novel. Like just below the likes of Solo Levelling, and with proper adaptation it would have been one of the highest rated too. Compared to that, TBH X is obviously an anime original and would require a lot of time to garner popularity. But it is doing insanely well rn

Every arc ended with main hero's new rank getting announced. But Queen didn't? Maybe she will earn her rank post Johnny's arc?
