| I was just thinking that I fear for the long-term stability of this country. Even if the optimal scenario plays out and the imperial government defeats this rebellion quickly without it turning into a protracted insurgency getting bogged down in the mountains and spreading to the rest of the countryside in an unending fashion (if Shishou or those in his inner circle manages to rally other noble houses to their cause and press the rural peasants into fighting for them), will it just be a prelude to a larger foreign war? Because the presence of the lookalike envoys there means there's obviously foreign collusion and backing/support for this attempt to depose the government. The foreign envoys are likely too high up (and sent there in a capacity as literal envoys - i.e. representatives, executing their state's will abroad) to be overlooked and written off as a rogue element to bury the issue and smooth over relations between the two countries. I just don't know what that other western country (I don't believe we've been given a name for it) is seeking to achieve. Relations between the two powers already seemed mutually beneficial and fairly cordial. Do they just want a closer "alliance" in the sense of installing someone they perceive as a handpicked puppet on the throne so they can control not-China/Li more thoroughly and completely? The partnership now is too balanced and they just want an actual proxy? That's the only sense I can make of their motive in this. If Shishou is defeated quickly, I wonder if it will signal nothing but immediate open international war and an invasion into Li by the other side (or vice versa)? Though this isn't just Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (or even necessarily Juuni Kokuki) alternative universe Ming Dynasty era China, so I don't know how in-depth they'll really get with the geopolitics. I wouldn't mind a copious dose of it though balanced as a split focus with the romance, Slice of Life stuff, and smaller mysteries. Mrilx_vt said: So Maomao has brother? But they mentioned earlier in the series that it's his nephew - that he had adopted his nephew as his heir. So I assume that's biological nephew. They haven't gone into more detail with it. But even though Lakan is Maomao's biological father, she was adopted by Luomen, so it's like legally and by titles/status she's not Lakan's official daughter (not in his custody) and therefore it's kind of complex to say what her relationship would be to Lahan. Other than a cousin if they're still biologically related. |

| At this point, I feel like Loulan and Suirei brought Maomao with them because they know how much pull she has. The strategist's daughter and the moon prince's favorite, they know that they would do something about Shishou and in extension Shenmei to save Maomao. In that case, best case they could do was kidnap Maomao lmao. Man, Shenmei is a fucking piece of shit. I'm honestly starting to really like Suirei, moreso I feel bad for her, she's not really evil, just doing what she is told. I hope the sisters gets out of this hellhole, but that's wishful thinking. If they lose the war, they will be punished. But man, I need to see Shisui goofing off again with Maomao and Xiaolan ๐ญ. God, that Lakan scene was so powerful , I could feel it through my loins. This was definitely an all timer episode, it's been revealed that Shisui was Loulan all along and now Jinshi will step up on his true role. |

I don't imagine that anything more lenient than permanent exile would be politically feasible or palatable to the decision-makers. Of course, that's if the series is being reasonably realistic. Nothing says that it's constrained by having to be so. |

| Shenmei reminds me of an old Disney baddie. Not much character depth aside from being a bitch who hates aging. *sigh* And there is Xiaomao once again ignoring the obvious about Jinshi for plot purposes. Okay episode. Last minutes with Lakan were my favorite part by a mile. |

My goodness, I didn't expect Lakan is still so respectful and scared of his uncle despite him being old. I suppose his scary side is something he doesn't want to see. With Loulan reveal, now Maomao has connection to all Emperor's high-concubines, ex or not. :) |

| The scary figure of Lady Shenmei alongside Concubine Loulan, which the mystery of her disappearance (after much speculation) is solved and found at the Fox Village parading as the girl that seems like she would be a best friend of everyone, Shisui certainly had everyone played. And more context from Suirei about the Shi Clan and how she and her mother were used as slaves, everything that's to connect them to Shishou, some have vital clues, and some needed further verification. Add to that the complexities of who the Emperor actually is, and she ALMOST heard from him that he's the actual Emperor, but got too distracted by ox bezoars. When everything is put together, the Shi Clan opting for war is quite possibly one of the worst outcomes that Maomao surmises, even though she gets her interest from the books that the previous imprisoned apothecary had left behind. Yet, to think that Shisui is not the one in power, but her abusive and ugly-as-heck mother, Maomao trying to satiate her with the immortality potion will take some time, though the circumstance within the hidden "Stronghold" fortress is as bad as it looks. And just as Lahan had his report to Jinshi about the Shi clan making their mark in the North and preparing for rebellion, Lakan preempting his anger towards Jinshi, as utterly embarrassing as it looks for the lead eunuch, finding their daughter is important after all, but it's the former's dignity to rid of Shishou and the Shi clan, that sets the grand plan in motion for Jinshi, the Ka Zuigetsu Moon Prince to take action. A known enemy, a known entity sliding between the rear palace's doors, and a clan that is pretty much operating like the infamous Jonestown incident, it's time for the real ones to step up and be accounted for. |

| Holyyyyy peak episodee. This might've been a miss on my part, but I really didn't expect Shisui to be Loulan. That last part was so hyped. Lakan may seemed rude, but everything he said is 100% correct. |

| So Suirei is the half sister that was mentioned a while back, idk but I was expecting that sister to be the same age and look like Shisui aka Loulan. Anyway are we going to see a war? I hope we do cause I don't think Maomao's kidnappers would just willingly surrender and accept punishment |
