Deep down inside, Minami is hurting. This is the most vulnerable she's shown herself on screen all this season. Arata is the main voice of reason and encouragement for her.

Well played Minami. She regained some of her confidence and aiming to get stronger. Maybe we'll get more character focus on her this season but yeah, it's a step forward.

Well, kinda anticlimactic resolution after that dramatic ass cliffhanger last episode lol. With the way everyone was like “Where’s Minami?!?!” at the end of last episode, really made think she had ran away from home or something, but nope, turns out she just headed over to the nearby konbini lols. But yeah, still, that means she missed the match, which would get anyone suspicious of what’s really going on, especially our Oniichan Arata here. She looks all happy and cheerful like usual sure… but a little TOO cheerful.

All backed up with what Shion saw earlier in the morning, with Minami crying in the backyard (btw, might I add, amazing first person POV cut that was when he was walking up to her). So yeah, oniichan being the oniichan he is gets the gang together to make SURE our girl makes it to her match. Going as far as to bow down and beg for the coach to let her in despite her lateness and last minute addition. Thankfully, she gets to go all out one last time, which again I have to add FUCKING AMAZING SEQUENCE that whole tennis match was.

But even amazing animation wasn’t enough to make her win, and yeah, she sadly lost. Oniichan being Oniichan though, would ya guess, cares for her and hugs her while she cries…. Genuinely such a sweet scene it was. Behind all the spiceness going on with Ouka and Kotono, there’s truly just a real sibling bond between the family here, and nothing showed that better than this scene.

Just in awe here man… amazing episode from start to finish. Might be one of my favorites of the season both visually and content wise.

The last episode's suspense was intense with Minami's sudden disappearance, but the reveal that she never left was even more impactful. Minami played it cool with Arata, but Shion saw the truth when he caught her crying, and we got to see some bro talk. It's been a while since they had a proper conversation.

Arata, being the caring brother he is, prepared for Minami's departure to the competition along with the other siblings. So our Banri can't drive, huh? There were a few funny moments in the car, whether it was Banri herself or the interactions between Arata and Ouka. Arata getting on his knees so his sister can play—now that's a caring brother.

I really didn't understand why Minami thinks the members hate her, especially when her team already knew they had a low chance without her. She's a simple-minded character, but her emotions seem rather complex. I also didn’t get why Arata had to get physical with Minami and hug her just to tell her to cry. I mean, seriously, I doubt any normal brother would do that in that specific situation, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was done just to farm some Minami affection points for the next episode.

The episode wasn't bad, as it showcased a different side of our blessed with a bright smile and ever cheerful Minami. It showed that she’s also capable of suffering and how she always looks at the bright side, like how the other siblings struggled when they were younger about writing a gratitude letter to their mother, who had already passed away, while she found positivity even in her loss.

This was a great episode, In a sense served to show us how much everyone cares for eachother. Even after the big reveal of the majority of them not being related it still keeps their bonds just as strong.

I gained some respect back that I lost for Arata this episode, being able to get so low and bow for the sake of your little sister is very commendable.

Also we got a bit of bro talk from Arata and Shion hopefully we get some more

Beautiful episode. Can’t believe I’m crying because of a Reiji written work. It’s insane how much better this story is than Kanokari. Minami’s arc was an absolute tearjerker.

The lengths Arata’s willing to go to keep his family happy just warms my heart and makes me respect him sm. Even though things didn’t go like we wanted with Minami’s match, I have nothing but respect for her trying to grit it out. That’s gotta be the next best thing for Nao-senpai, knowing Minami was willing to put it all on the line for her!

Arata riding Minami on a bike to beat the traffic had some Kaguya sama fireworks episode vibes. Dude just wore fused to not let Minami participate! The whole family just throwing their all behind Minami since she’s normally so focused on keeping everyone else was so sweet.

Minami trying to play on a bum ankle to get Nao-senpai a win reminds me of Aaron Gordon playing game 7 the other day on a bad Hamstring to get Russ a ring 💔 imagine having friends like that bro, most of us can’t even get people to text us back.

Despite the loss, the biggest takeaway is Minami finally doing what SHE wants. She wanted to play because she wouldn’t have been able to sleep knowing she wasn’t out there, she did and they lost but without her, they never would’ve been there. No one’s ever gonna blame their best player in that situation. It’s like blaming Bron or Jokic for an elimination game stinker 🤷🏾‍♂️

Beautiful way to end with Arata and Minami’s embrace. So much respect for she and Arata.

I'm surprised to know that Minami has become one of my favorite characters after these last two episodes. I really admire her for always making everyone happy, always being positive, but it's really hard not being able to ask for help so as not to bother people. I also think she doesn't ask for help because she feels like she's letting people down.
I really enjoyed watching her scenes with Hinata, because it further reinforced the respect and consideration that the two have for each other.
The bike scene was wonderful! It was great to see everything Shin thought about Minami, his memories. Shin always considered Minami essential to his family, he always admired her for all the effort and dedication she had.
I really liked the soundtrack for this episode, the bike and game scenes were really good.
As sad as it was for her to lose and go through all of that in the end, I think it was the most realistic scenario since she was already in pain even walking to the bus after the last match.
I loved this episode and it just made me even more excited for the next ones.

Just like the "confession" with Ouka from a few episodes back, Minami gone missing also turned out to be anticlimactic as she had just run off to the convenience store (I thought she had holed up somewhere inside the house). While Minami ended up playing with her bad ankle (and lost!?) her senpai was thankful for the effort and even Minami herself said that she would've regretted it if she stayed at home. Not sure how much more screentime Minami will get and I've become a fan of hers but the competition is fierce...

It's a shame Minami didn't win, but even the best player in the world can't perform well when injured, whatever the sport, unless they put in a superhuman effort.

Minami's bow was amazing, not for nothing did I pick her as one of my favorites. Arata really shined, with the bike scene and kneeling down to beg Minami's coach for her to play-what a great brother.

And that sweet but sad ending, with Minami crying and finally letting go of all the weight she was carrying,
stopping lying to others and especially to herself.

Still its hard not to take part in an event that you're been training for such a long time. To be able to smile while bleeding sure takes a lot of positivity. Just what you expect from her. Glad that Minami was able to play. The game sure was well animated. Shame about the result but in the end they all did their best.

Wow I would probably have to say this was my favourite episode so far.
- It was great to see the family all in the car together and still wanting to support Minami even after everything
- It was also nice to see how Arata really is the glue that holds everything together and is always ready to help out his siblings no matter what
- Finally, it was sad to see Minami crying at the end but it shows great character development and growth as she allowed herself to be honest with Arata and truly let out her emotions.

This was a great episode and the animation was also amazing to go alongside it.

Although I cannot get over this image:

Like bro...didn't you come here with your whole family...so why are you sitting all alone and looking so gloomy :}

To be honest, Minami is a cheerful character with many good qualities, and I generally love characters like her. They give off positive energy, and I can't deny that this type is usually my favorite in any anime.

But seriously, I want to beat up the story writer. I mean, what harm would it have done to let her win the match? Her winning or losing wouldn't have affected the story at all. Maybe some people would say, "Oh, we need to see Minami being weak and sad," etc... But come on, that scenario has been repeated in a million other anime. So literally, there's no difference whether she wins or loses—we all know what’s going to happen either way.

I won’t lie, I didn’t enjoy the episode that much and wasn’t emotionally moved by it... Not because the anime or the episode was bad—absolutely not. But because I’ve seen this exact kind of episode so many times in other anime...

It's like when you watch a beach episode or a sports day episode—maybe the first time it feels exciting, but after that, it just becomes like a filler episode, right?

I also want to point something out… We're already at episode seven, and Shion still has no role in the story hahahahahaha.

It was a nice episode and all, with more background to Minami. Shes still the cutest out of all the girls.

And hopefully now Minami, now that the Tennis competition is over, that she can consider being one of the top girls to date the male MC, and not just a footnote in the romance aspect of the anime.

I actually thought that Minami was going to confess to the Male-MC at the end of the episode on the park bench scene

Still looks like the winning girl will be between Pink-Hair and the youngest sister, despite the male-MC having the strongest connection with Minami out of all the sisters.

Wow! Fell in love with this episode 💖💖
All the siblings getting together to take Minami to the match, and the ride in the bicycle when Arata was talking about how Minami had always been a hardworking ,positive, shining light among the siblings; Arata straightaway going for the Dogeza to make them let Minami play; and the animation for the tennis match was so brilliant like it would be for a sports anime on Tennis; Minami saying her goodbye to Nao; crying into the arms of Arata and letting her true feelings out..
Everything about this episode was so perfect and the emotions were so well captured.

Crap writing strikes again. I know it's hard to expect quality from Rent author but atleast try. Minami should won with all the build up she had with Nao last episode all just had very plain sad conclusion. And the plot holes in this episode seesh.
Minami first said she will go to support (which I natural why won't you go to your team final even if you are injured) then she starts munching until last second and that through forced by her siblings.
After all the "heroic" things like reaching at last second, pushing through injury all for to make her lose and cry.
I would have accepted if she retired hurt but she was fine even after match so just plain L. I get you want to teach her it's tough you don't always win but then what's the point of Nao and all this injury drama just comes of as excuse. Even with half fit she was said to in national/olympics conversation last episode doesn't makes sense to loss without forefit.
All for to have one good moment with Arata smh. Arata was cool again with how far he gone for Minami. But just disappointing after a good previous episode. Minami was made to cry from no reason. Stay strong girl..

Best episode by far.

Seeing Minami hiding her feelings behind her smile, hurts. She's usually the one who's always smiling and happy but today, she cried a lot. Even if she didn't win in the end, she should proud of herself. Arata was definitely the biggest help and encourager for her and that makes him really likeable. Seeing Minami cry sucks and is not good for my heart, but hopefully in the end, she can stay true to herself and can be more confident going forward.

We love you, Minami.

After all that, I think they should have had her win, instead of having her lose and cry, just to say "stop lying, when you are sad, you can cry", that didn't really have the impact like I was hoping.

Now I know what the fruit of Hibike and Prince of Tennis' illicit love might look like in some alternate reality.

@ejleon I think the author deliberately went this route to give a more bittersweet and realistic ending than just a classic happy ending. We all know that this author's writing can often be painfully realistic, to say the least.

This became a full on sports anime for a little bit, those tennis scenes did look pretty awesome too, it’s just unfortunate that after all of the help Minami got, she couldn’t pull off the win, I thought it was weird that they cut away before the game was over lol, it quickly made sense after that. And it really hurts to see Minami ugly crying into Arata’s arms (that voice acting was amazing tho, I could really feel the sorrow), like bro gassed her up and everything telling her how awesome she was, but she still sees herself as not good enough, I can see where she’s coming from as someone that tends to lean into self deprecation as well, but still very upsetting stuff, great moment and end of this little arc tho.

But I will say, the thing that’s frustrating about Minami’s situation to me is that her team is hot ass lol, like Minami wouldn’t have this pressure on her shoulders if it wasn’t for that. I like that it added to the drama of course, and I guess they did at least even it up before the final match, but if the team was betting on Minami then no way was Nao getting her win in her final year, I’m not even sure if the win would be worth much if the team was carried by one person anyway.

@FellyphG I’m a bit surprised I’m the only one honestly because it was really good voice acting. And I didn’t realize before this, but I’ve only heard her before as super side characters that probably only had a few lines, hopefully she gets more bigger roles after this because she’s got the pipes for it.

I'm surprised Minami actually played. I figured she instead would've given her senpai support by cheering for her, that way Minami would've learned to not lie to herself and believe in her senpai. I felt like Arata didn't need to bow in front of everyone to play, instead I think that moment should've gone to Minami instead.

Minami seems to always have that bright, positive attitude, no matter what. That letter she wrote to her mom was as heartwarming as it was heartbreaking. But you have to admire her outlook on things. I think that may be why she's arguably my favorite. She got some nice character development, making her a more substantial character.

A bummer she lost the match, but it kind of felt inevitable with her injury, which is why I thought her senpai would play in her stead. Regardless, it was sweet how her team and senpai thanked her for all she'd done getting them there. Bittersweet to be sure, especially with this being the end of her senpai's tennis career, but now Minami has something to strive for.

Sadly I feel as though she'll now take a backseat to the other girls. I never expected her to be the one, as usually tomboys always lose.
