The first season has these characters figure out ways to make the restaurant profitable in one year in order to meet Hayato's self-imposed deadline as well as to preserve/honor Sachiko's (Hayato's grandmother) memory. The girls teach Hayato different aspects of the business. For example, Akane teaches Hayato how to brew a good cup of coffee. Riho teaches Hayato how to properly talk to the restaurant's suppliers. Shiragiku involves Hayato and the other girls in coming up with new menu items for the restaurant. While the second season has less of a focus on the restaurant compared to the previous season, as it had become somewhat profitable near the end of the first season as well as the second season focusing more on the 'harem' aspect of the story, the restaurant's stability is threatened when a rival restaurant appears in episode 2, which lasts until episode 4 when the owner was sold the restaurant to the a former staff member, as he was led to believe that he had dealt heavy financial damage to Hayato and Café Familia. |
