Have you at some point stopped watching anime? Like a break? If so why and how long?

I remember I stopped watching for like 6 months totally. Mostly because I was too fed up with same stories and felt turned out. Now recently I have started watching again.

Yeah, I've taken a few breaks. Usually, it's just burnout, too many shows, not enough time. Or sometimes I get into a different hobby for a while. My breaks usually last a couple of months, just long enough to clear my head and rediscover my enthusiasm.

I was about to make this exact same thread. Well, gonna make it anyway at some point.

About the question, twice. First time in the 90's and again in the 2000's. It lasted for a couple of years. I simply had some other hobbies and interests during those periods.

I stopped watching anime for a long time after I stopped watching television all together back in 2010/11. So glad I got back into the medium in 2016.

not really, even if It was only for a week or so when I was watching three TV-shows back to back, so If I'm not watching anime I'm either watching something else or playing a game XD

Yeah, it was like from 2023, just really tired from watching at that moment. But I came back months after, and started loving it again. I realized it was best for me to watch different types of shows instead of just anime.

I almost did not watch the anime between 2012 and 2016, because at some point I just sharply lost any motivation and interest. As if I burned emotionally.

Yes I take breaks, sometimes I just need it because of burn out and/or "seen it all" feeling. Longest I think it was something between 6~8 months, it was a decade ago. I take shorter breaks every year and it can add up to few months every year depending on how much free time I have and how busy I am with other hobbies (tv series, games). For example when (if) new league of Path of Exile comes out I do not watch anime for at least few weeks.

I am on a break from anime right now. It's going to be a month soon. The reason is exams. They go on for months and I don't feel like watching anything cause of the guilt it produces. I'll start back on Valentines day by watching a cute romcom to fulfill.my fantasies

If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

A two years break in 2020 when the seasonal were being delayed since I was working 7/7 back then I just picked Diablo again and went up for 2 years. I got back into anime when I heard the second part of the final season of SNK was finishing airing I watched that as first series.

Yeah, I usually take breaks from time to time, it helps keeping things fresh and I usually use that free time on other hobbies, mostly gaming or music.

I stopped watching for a bit after Ragna Crimson ended. I realized that nothing could match that level of peak so I needed to take a break.

Last time was in 2023, probably for around a year but I’m still at that point where I’m still not motivated to watch anything. Last time I watched an anime was in November.

I may decide to watch a season of Ultraman instead or spend some time on a video game. Of course there's always things like family and work too that could demand a temporary break. The only time I feel like I over indulge is during a con but then again that's kinda what I'm there for.

No, I haven't since I only watch few seasonal anime lately.

I only stop watching anime when there is absolutely nothing interesting to watch that season but somehow I always find something to watch each season, even if just one anime :)

I've gone months without watching anime. Usually it's just a few weeks, but a few months break has happened a handful of times as well. Sometimes my interests just lie elsewhere and I just lose interest for a while. If I try to force interest it just doesn't work and I just end up irritated with every single thing that I try to watch so... it's better to just take a break when I'm not in the mood to watch anything.

Anime is hardly worth watching. To begin with. Why would anyone even "enjoy" it?

i have a few times. Mostly it's when i find new hobbies or media to fill my free time, like video games.

I went on a few week period where i stopped because my go-to anime site was shut down and i didn't feel like looking for and testing a bunch of new ones (My internet's fairly slow so finding sites that aren't too heavy on the bandwidth can be rough).

A period of time where i lived in a place that didn't have normal internet so i had to use limited mobile data.

right now i'm currently on sort of a break. Cruncyroll went to premium only and it was a big part of my anime viewing experiences. (Basically i have a system for watching anime. I alternated between stuff on Crunchyroll and stuff that i had on my ptw and wanted to watch but wasn't available on CR)
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

of course, the longest time I stopped watching anime was for 6 years because I was busy and not in the mood to watch anime and also I several times did not watch anime for months because I prefer to play games. for me anime is one of the entertainment so sometimes I choose other entertainment.
