| @dadnaya If it's "reasonable" it doesn't qualify as an age gap though. That's just regular romance. A proper age gap romance needs to have that as a source of conflict, not just a mere mention of the character's age. I guess you could try to argue that a working adult dating a university student is "odd", being at slightly different stage in life, but unless the older one is the younger one's professor, it doesn't amount for much. |

| Ah, my favorite genre - Transgressive romance. I'll say what I always say regarding this topic and in this instance, a sizable portion of my answer is exactly in line with your own. First and foremost, incestuous pairings. Out of all incest, chiefly brother-sister, followed by first cousin pairings. I'm not into parent-child/offspring and not as into other sets of relations. Brother-sister unions are the purest most sublime manifestation of true beauty in this world. And it goes without saying, but I'm referring to entirely "authentic" pure-blooded relations. No half-siblings (though that is better and preferable than some other examples), no stepsiblings, no case in which one or both of the parties were adopted, no random honorary calling of someone "brother" or "sister" as a title of endearment when they're genetically a foreign presence or any other navel-gazing cop-out bullshit. Secondarily, age gap. Generally, the larger the better though capping off at like 20 years difference or less. Like early-mid teens + late 20s would be the gold standard. Like 14 and 27 or something. Bonus if it's an incestuous age gap relationship. Incestuous age gap sibling? The perfect ideal. Also, and while this last category could also be included with age gap, the different worlds both involved individuals come from is often enough a factor and hurdle to make it intense and weighty enough to be simply enough in and of itself and worth exploring and examining on its own, which is interspecies relationships (many species often have radical differences in both total overall average lifespan and the specific age both individuals from those respective species are at when they first meet anyway). Such as between a human and vampire, android, alien, mutant, youkai, fairy, centaur, beast person, or anything else. |
