It looks like the hunt for Aqua and Taiki's father has hit a dead end, quite literally. I can't blame Aqua for feeling lost here considering how much effort he has put into this search of his for so long. Despite that, seeing the star vanish from his right eye was surprising, but also refreshing. He looks to be more relaxed and is smiling more, which can only be a good thing.

Mem-Cho got a lot of screentime and I'm all here for it! Seeing her talk about she wants to continue increasing B Komachi's Youtube subscriber amount does remind me of Mayonaka Punch, which makes me smile since I love that series. Still, I do like how Mem-Cho is going about it. =)

Same goes for Ruby. She also got a good amount of screentime and she certainly didn't waste a second of it. Her message to Himura to inspire him with her video message of encouragement certainly did the trick to get him out of his creative slump and he's now hard at work in writing B Komachi's first original song.

As before, this series does like to end on a cliffhanger and this episode was no exception as we see a mysterious little girl smiling. Hopefully it won't be long before she appears again, as although things look to be more relaxing now that our group is heading to Miyazaki, drama and tension is always around the corner, ready to strike at a moment's notice.

@godavid10 I assume you are not a manga reader and just stating your theory.
Then it's one of most plausible one. Uehara guy being a 3rd grade actor being insecure of his wife makes it more sense.

Yes, I don't read the manga, I only read One Piece.

It is totally impossible that the murdered father is the real one, because otherwise this manga/anime would be known for being shit. The actor understandably never considered that he was not his real father, I don't know if Aqua will end up telling him or not. Ai, being what she was, it's also impossible that she ended up fucking the murdered guy, who seems like a typical salaryman with nothing special. She said he was someone "special".

I can't think of any other theory either, in this case DNA doesn't lie.
@godavid10 yeah Ai being with a 3rd grade actor seems kinda impossible. Himekawa may also not know about it and it's very hard for Aqua to guess as well. There's definitely more to it not sure in which way. This guy also died before Ai's murder so even if he is father he is not the target Aqua is/was looking for.

The consequences of logical thinking are sometimes merciless...

As an actor, Taiki's father was under pressure of inferior complex of himself. He has been distracting himself from the stress by playing with several talented women. Taiki and Aqua lean toward that Aqua's mother was one of them.
But my speculation is different from it.

[[ JUST MY GUESS BUT NOTHING MORE ]]
One day spending time with his five-year-old son, he suddenly had found it. A cuckoo had been invited into his nest while he had been neglecting it.
In shame, anger, grief, and despair, he urged his wife to die (or he concluded her life by himself. Yet otherwise, his wife might have asked him to put herself to death). However, still could not hate her, he would have inflicted the same punishment on himself as he had done to his wife. *

That cuckoo (still imaginary being) could be the biological father of the two young actors and the very target of Aqua, I suppose.

Those people out there are so cruel: say, "Poor Ruby, she doesn't realize that her Gorou sensei has been next to herself all along,".
By the time Ruby realizes who her twin bro is, she would make aware that Gorou is already dead. *sob*

* People from other cultures may feel disgusted by suicide. It has nothing to do with the main point of the story, but I think it needs to be explained.
"For lovers to commit suicide together [心中: shinjuu] is a pledge of undying, undisturbed love between just the two who will never be united in this world." ---- This is a sensibility of the Japanese that has been around for 400 years and has been repeatedly depicted in Kabuki and other dramatic contents, allowing for typical interpretation in our common sense. The author, the reader, the audience, and the characters in the anime and the comic [Oshi no Ko] share this way of thinking.
In addition, there is no doubt that such an unfounded expectation toward the "next life" that lies deep within the Japanese mind has a great deal to do with the conception and popularity of the "reincarnation" theme, which [Oshi no Ko] gets in.

Hey, if the souls of Taiki's late parents were reincarnated somewhere in the story's world, it would make the plot more tangled.

the ED song plays at the episode title rather than whilst the anime is still ongoing again! they've done it twice this season now, so i'm not sure why they didn't do the same for s1e6 because the ed made one of my favourite parts of vol 3 of the manga into a soap opera

I'm getting more and more interested in the manga, I don't think I can wait for another season to drop.

Seeing Aqua somewhat relieved and somewhat happy was refreshing. Also very funny how his newly found brother had to lecture him for leading on Akane and Kana. I like how the show and even Aqua acknowledges the situation without downplaying it as a simple childish wimp.

Since they are going back to the place where they were living before the incident, I wonder if Aqua will go searching for his corpse. That would be so damn creepy. Still it won't be the first time this anime give us the chills.

Himekawa’s reveal was so random. After Aqua’s entire goal had been focused on his father for so long, for it to fall apart that quickly must have been devastating. I’m glad he managed to recover and find some relief, but I still doubt that Aqua’s father is actually dead. Maybe Taiki lied, as I doubt Aqua and Taiki wouldn’t be brothers after the DNA test.

It was also hilarious seeing more of Kana being so obsessed with Aqua. I’m equally excited to see the new B-Komachi song; that scene of Ruby encouraging the composer made her look like an angel.

Now I’m curious about what memories Aqua and Ruby will unlock in the mountains, and who that white-haired girl is. The way she was introduced feels like there’s something supernatural going on could she be some kind of reincarnation?

Well, it's nice to see Aqua relaxed, it only took 21 episodes xd.

I was already missing the dynamics of the new B-Komachi, the interactions of Ruby, Kana and Mem are very funny xd.

The ending leaves me thinking about many things...
@LuisSV23 Me too. For a second when that strange girl flashed on the screen at the end I wondered, "If the reincarnation thing happened once, what if it happened twice?"

Finally, a Ruby-centered episode!

I love seeing the subtlety in Ruby reaction when Miyazaki and weird fans were mentioned.

Some nice animation with the music writer.

Seeing Ruby reminiscing about Sensei was very emotional.
Such moments appeared throughout the series; I genuinely can't believe people thought you know what was unexpected.

Finally back after a week break, and welp, I guess the revenge plot ends here, Himekawa and Aqua’s dad is supposedly dead and that completely snuffed out Aqua’s fire. Now the real question is, do I believe this means the revenge plot ends here? Absolutely not lol, something is definitely up, either the dad isn’t dead, or someone else killed Ai, or maybe something else entirely, at least I hope this is the case because if this is really the way this plot ends that would be very disappointing, I’m betting that white haired babe at the very end will be relevant somehow, I’ve been very curious about her after seeing her in the OP alongside Aqua.

But enough about murder, now it’s time for B Komachi stuff, a side of cute idol girls goes very well with it lol. There was some funny stuff about a room tour and Kana flexing all the hyper expensive things she bought, as well as Mem-Cho getting thrown under the bus for her age lol, but the big thing was the group getting a new song made for them to make a music video for, and I’m a bit surprised they’re not going to write and compose it themselves, but I guess having someone else do that job is very common in the idol world, the idols’ main job is singing and dancing after all. I really liked the scene where Ruby got Himura’s mojo back, sometimes a cute babe will put you right back in the game lol, jokes aside tho it was a heartwarming scene. And I guess from here the gang will be taking off for some R&R, but are they actually? Guess we’ll find out lol.

it's pretty clear to me that Aqua has given up too soon on his quest. It's almost like his new brother didn't tell the whole story, huh...

And tbh, I fully understand what's been told in this episode... Aqua lost his desire for a moment, he's free for the time being, but most certainly, his quest for revenge will come back.

Now it's time for Ruby to shine.

I love the significance behind their eyes, aqua lost his star and Ruby is shining, that's a creative way to switch protagonists.

Ruby needs to shine!

But no Kurokawa in this episode, that's a crime.

I'm going to read the manga, but I'm not expecting her to make an appearance for the time being... sad.

I feel like Aqua has been having tunnel vision for all these years, looking solely for his dad as the person responsible. But he never really had any proof it was him, just conjecture. I'm thinking his search can't really be over, there's got to be someone else.

It's pretty obvious that the actor's mother fucked their real father, and that the "murdered father" was collateral damage from her murder. Aqua being so intelligent and obsessive, I find it shocking that he didn't think about it, but I can understand it, thinking that you have your father within your reach but he is dead. Obviously he's going to realize it, now we just have to know if before the end of this season or not.

Ruby is going to be surprised when she finds out that the doctor is her adorable little brother.
godavid10 said:

This was what I thought as well. Surprised Aqua didn't think of it considering how obsessed he has been with revenge; I would think he would be looking for every thread of possibility that exists. Gotta go dig up Uehara's grave and DNA test him now.

and so the story lost its main appeal... no father, no killer of both Ai and Aqua... may be still some hope in Aqua returning to his old hospital... at least Ruby and Aqua could get to know their previous lives..
if not.. it will be boring anime trying to show of "oh life of celebrity is so hard pls pity us" like in later part of this episode and few others

I can't believe Aqua gives up of finding the killer..
who cares about the father it is less important and it could be that the dead guy was cheated on by his wife and that is why he did kill her wife and himself after learning the truth after years... both Aqua and Himekawa and Ruby could have father that is just doing it with every girl around

that new girl with white hair.. maybe it would be funny if it is reincarnated Ai ?:D the smile looks similar, no?

as far as I was ok with other ppl having sparkling eyes and that Akane copied Ai eyes, then I dislike the idea of Aqua losing the eye as he same as Ruby only had one.. for me it was a mark after their mother, losing it makes not much sense even if only wanting to show his change.. I know no one from characters in anime see the unnatural star in his eye, but I still dislike this idea

Ruby, who is usually annoying and useless, had her moments. She has inspired the middle age composer to write again a masterpiece of a song.

Kana remains a simp for Aqua.

Aqua and Taiki are siblings from different mothers, but it turns out that their biological father and their mother died? I would believe that but for the fact that Taiki's father has gray hair while Aqua's hair is yellow so here Aqua should realize that there is nothing wrong with her real biological father, but at least I'm glad that Aqua can smile sincerely after so long, even the star in her eyes disappeared but I'm sure it will come back again soon.

Ruby wasn't sure if she wanted to hide her secret from the world. Ruby was also still convinced that her beloved doctor was still alive and watching her somewhere.

Kana as always wanted to be by Aqua's side lol, Kana also noticed that there was something different about Aqua that wasn't her usual self but it was a good thing because Aqua was smiling more and not as gloomy as usual.

The scene at the end when the crows flew and who was the smiling girl at the end of the episode, I'm very curious what will happen in the next episode hmmm.

Nah, I'm not convinced by that "reveal" of Aqua and Ruby's "father." It's TOO easy and TOO anti-climactic. I smell a red herring.

Yes fishy. Aqua doesn't even write out the dates to check for consistency. The half brothers birth, Aqua's birth, Ai's death, the couples 'suicide'. Is the order even right?

Big reveal at the end of the last episode, a one-week delay, oh boy they are cooking and the next episode is going to be on FIRE!!!!

Oh wait... Aqua's father, the driving force behind all that Aqua would say and do, is.... dead?? Ok welp that's all done let's go catch up a bit with B Komachi shall we.

Yeah it can't be over just like that, can it? Throwing away what kind of is the main underlying plot of the whole series?? There's got to be more to it. And heck, even if this guy really is Aqua and Ruby's father and is in fact dead, I'm still sure that's not all there is to it exactly. I don't believe this "revenge" plot is 100% over, and will continue in some way or another.

But, if we are actually moving away from it all, I think it will still almost be as equally interesting to see how Aqua himself learns to move on and live his life as well. We'll see.

I'm not familiar with the manga, but I might pick it up once this season is over. I think I read somewhere that it KIND OF falls off, but I'll read it for myself to determine that. I really have not spoiled for myself any major plot points.... except for THAT part. If you know you know. Anyway yeah I'm curious to see how this season will wrap up, and will most likely will be left wanting to keep the story going, so yeah will probably start reading the manga soon.

Well like most non manga readers here I'm not fooled by the supposedly dead dad. This would end up being a so so SOL story in showbiz and it needs it's mystery leg to stand on. But it might give Aqua some time to just relax and live like a normal teen actor should. But the creepy looking kid at the end shows that more strangeness is upon us.

Ruby's time to shine! They are going to their hometown, a place where they died and got reincarnated.
