Well done Melt. You might suck still at acting but at least for 1 minute, you were amazing. I'm really proud of you. This is some good character development. Now I'm even more excited for the next episode.

MELT REDEMPTION ARC LETS GOOOO!!!

Not what I expected, but I'm glad they really care about its side characters.

That animation slide at the end was JAW DROPPING! What an amazing episode and Aqua hasn't even had his turn yet.

Okay this was the best directed and animated episode in oshi no ko so far. Just wow

From the start where characters were introduced to the end the pov as if we the viewers are sitting in the audience, too good just gave the entertainment experience chefs kiss.
The first scene between taiki and kana started it off well, i was loving the air acrobatics of tsurugi with the wire supports, kana did so good with the choreography.

We get to the main course which is melt. We get his backstory from being taken advantage of by a senior in middle school where he learnt about his popular looks and took advantage of it but soon as he entered the entertainment industry and in sweet todays performance he faced the actual cruel reality which showed him his place. Looks arent everything. I too thought he was too conceited during season 1 but had some redemption to him and he proved it today.

I am glad Director Kaburagi had faith in him and noticed his hardwork everywhere. Plus giving him a chance on such an important stage is taking a big risk totally respect that notion. But still Melts biggest critic is Yoriko sensei whos yet to still approve of him after all that cold behavior towards him and also she doesnt want him ruining abikos work like he did to hers which is understandable.
The passion he showed while also showing respect to sakuyas skills (cause fuck showing respect to sakuya as a person dudes an actual assh*le) knowing that sakuya is on another level. But he had done his homework, reflecting on his old work on sweet today (felt so bad seeing him cry), building up stamina by doing cardio everyday.
(Gonna insert this cute kanna hairstyle cause i love it)

Then also going out of his way to take advice from aqua which is actually a huge thing cause he treated aqua like a rival/enemy on sweet todays set and forgoing his ego was a huge step. Aquas advice was a huge help since taking the audience by surprise when they least expect anything from you is kinda of a big advantage. I hated all that sht talk from sakuya but melt inspite of that held his own and just started popping off on him by first with the amazing acrobats which impressed Abiko sensei (she was adorable with the reactions) and yoriko sensei in shock.
Then came Best part when melt is studying the role. He resonates with the character so deeply and connects his emotions with him while admitting his weakness and frustration. After that was just pure cinema, melt just poured his entire soul and passion into that one minute & came out on top like a star, the entire sequence of his journey with the animation and color effects was eye candy, loved it. Then came my favorite part Yoriko senseis reaction which was just me tbh. Peak reaction.

Congrats melt my boy you won over your biggest critic, take that victory lap. Even after the scene he goes and apologizes to sakuya for the adlib which he didnt need to and sakuya getting all friendly after getting humbled, yea ok dude not buying that but still melt earned his respect thats what matters. I think he won many hearts after this episode for sure.
Cant wait for next episode, its gonna be more exciting. Thank you Doga Kobo for this amazing treat today.

Someone take the keys off Doga Kobo they went crazy far this time
Animation so good it made me cry...
Melt got his retribution
ABSOLUTE CINEMA

From the start showing from audiance pov to showing how intricate the fighting scenes and movement is with the use of props. Kana showed her brilliance with Himekawa as well.
The amount off screentime and development Melt got for a side character truly impressive. Not some sobby dramatic struggle of a backstory only about beating his insecurities and proving his worth.
Ironic how Aquas advice is what helped him, after he is the one who first showed how bad Melt really was.
His sword trick got the attention of audiance and they saw for that 1 minute Melt was truly the BEST.
Sakuya got humbled and finally start to respect Melt.
As always Aquas plans never miss. So happy for my guy Melt he proved everyone wrong specially...

What an incredible episode, definitely my favourite from this season so far. The animation was incredible. They had no reason to focus this much on a minor side character but I'm so glad they did. 10/10 episode for sure

Yikes. I had too high of expectations in this EP then I was hit out of nowhere by a character I don't really care much...
The mood from the build up's all lost. Will it pick up?

Great episode. I love how most characters aren't worthless caricatures, in both the way their are animated in as well as their interpretations by the VA's. I don't care who this dog person is, all that matters is the result. And the result this episode is a 5/5, 10/10. Hilarious how all these sad celibates dislike this episode because they portray the redeeming arc of what they think is a chad, they're seething in the comments.

Now Doga Kobo really shined when animating this episode.

Besides, talking about how to use bad acting to your advantage to improvise is great.

So far, this season of ONK seems better to me than the previous one.

Thought this season might progress but this looks even worse 😭. Thought the stage play arc would end in 3-4 eps max. We are halfway and I'm sure they are gonna stretch it till last. As an enjoyment/time-pass it's ok but they take 1+ yr to make another season for just side plot? Stretching to an extent is understandable but beyond that making me angry... Feel like makers slapping the audience big time by just milking based on the great S1 ep1. This is not what I signed up for this detailed Stage Play and new side characters ' back stories which is totally unnecessary.

Actually I left watching this after 3Eps and came back to check the progress. Oh, Boy I'm sad about this anime's future if it goes at this rate.

They should rename this to "Hoshino's not the Main plot only Side plot with Rubber band effect".

I remember a dialogue from this season "Never End the Manga". I think it is what being applied here as well with all seriousness. I'm surprised nobody is talking about this.

Melt's redemption Arc !!!!!

Never before i've been so emotionally invested for a character that i didn't care about.

really great episode. Enough to make me change the rating from a 9 to a 10 for now. Visually stunning and you can really feel the emotion from every single person involved. absolute masterpiece of an episode. what a way to turn a forgettable character that no one cares about shine and make it's impact to a more likeable character.

I get why some people feel like this was a filler episode. Half of it was just boring; where should I even start? So they've replayed the very same (it seems to me) play intro we've seen in the first episode so here we go, a few minutes already wasted. At least they could get rid of the actual opening and use the play intro. Next we have some introduction into the basics of the story with huge static bars at the bottom and the top for the first 10 minutes.
I'm not going to complain about some character development for Melt, maybe he will be actually important later, because we already know that he feels bad that he's not a good actor but still bearing a curse of being a popular dude. Or maybe this was actually some development for Kaburagi? We got some extra information how he makes decision and that his gut feeling about some people is great. However that one minute in the last minutes of episode containing animated modern art was unfortunately quite disappointing. It just didn't fit in this episode and felt like wasted time.

So the first half of the episode felt very long, but not much was really that important to the story, while the second half felt very short because it was interesting.
Hopefully Aqua will save us in the next episode. It seems he's about to enter the scene in the next episode.

I was not a fan of this episode, although it would suck if we were just thrown into the play without any explanation what the play is about. So I guess it was alright, but could be better.

Was not expecting the first episode of the play to focus on a side character but goddamn it did and I am hyped for the rest of the play. Dude self realized, often said to be the only way a man can become a become is when the self realization hits..

Anyways, look at the hand of the dude! I know he is a side character but man Am I proud!!

The audience perspective of the play was fantastic! I would have been stoked to watch the entire play/episode like that. I was mostly indifferent to Melt, but I was rooting so hard for him today. Can we get a "Tokyo Blade" ova special, please?

The best episode by far, yeah we needed to go through opening of Tokyo Blade again, but god damn was it worth it. Doga Kobo are outdoing themselves with this adaptation.

And for me the climax of this episode being Melt's arc. What can I say... It was amazing, you are able to clearly see how much love was put into this part of the story. I know some people might say that his character is boring and all of this is filler, but not for me. I really adore all of his growth, that helped him achieve new heights as an actor. In many ways you can relate to him, with how he needed to face the reality and overcome it by pure hard work. Also the animation was superb, idk how are they doing it, but these lads are giving us the best Oshi no ko adaptation we could have ever had. (sorry for bad english, it's my second language)

I love everything Melt stands for. His transformation from a really bad lousy actor into a decent but still kinda lousy actor with a really good moment through sheer determination, hard work, and willpower makes him one of the most compelling characters for me so far.

Oh. My. God.

I'm MOVED. This episode had some of the most stunning, innovative and powerful visual storytelling I've ever seen in any media: the way the frames show Melt literally reworking himself from the core over and over again to illustrate the tremendous amount of effort he put into improving his acting just for that one moment of glory and redemption is a real treat both visually and symbolically. I have my own gripes with the source material itself, but this adaptation just keeps on exceeding my expectations every week!!
