Alya's older sister Masha is finally here to speak into her heart, though from young, Alya's always been an ice princess and one who always gets her work done efficiently and ahead of people, especially against slackers who just delays until the deadline that hardens her heart all the more. And her move from Vladivostok to Japan to meet yet another slacker in her class: Masachika, she certainly didn't have a good impression of him at first glance, who's sleeping through classes. Once again, Alya tries to ready the cultural festival all on her own for her part, though Masachika is more capable than he looks, and she doesn't seem convinced that he'll get the job done.

The endless prep of the overnight sessions that lead to the success of their class's cultural festival, Alya doesn't seem fazed whatsoever since she's treated as a princess, but she definitely went overboard with lashing out to Masachika, who's rather happy being the only guy who can call her by her nickname. And in this pretense that Alya falls in love for the very first time with Masachika being the capable chad who led her all the way, in the classic friends to lovers' progression. But as for Masha, she remembers Masachika being the boy of her childhood, though entrusting Alya in his hands is even better.

Masha is more being a mother figure than anything, that's who she is.

@Swyzen Окей, я на текст сильно не смотрел, больше обращял внимание на речь. И некоторые использованные фразы были не очень естественными, но всё равно на много лучше чем я ожидал.

We got Alya's backstory this week.Folk dance part was so beautiful.

And yeah it's pretty clear Masha is the girl from Kuze's past. This will lead to new drama.Alya and Kuze are so cute together. The cat plushie's reaction is basically Alya's reaction this episode.

I give this episode full 5/5.

Easily the best episode so far. Doga Kobo really do be cooking again this season with the visuals.

We were shown why Alya is thje way she is. And we were introduced to her sister, which I'm guessing is the childhood friend who spoke russian.

Well this really did just get interesting, I can't wait to see where this goes for sure.

I really enjoyed this episode. I'm not sure what compelled me to watch this series since it's outside of my usual wheelhouse, but I'm more and more glad I did with each episode.

It was nice to see some of Alya's past and get an idea why she's a bit solitary and standoffish. She seems to be a very serious person so it does kind of makes sense she'd draw the conclusions she did about not relying on other people.

I already adore Masha and you can tell right off the bat that she was Kuza's childhood friend and the reason he learned Russian. I wonder how sure she is about whether he is the same boy or not, and if she knows he was faking not understanding her speaking to him in Russian. I'm really looking forward to seeing her and Kuze interact more and what effect her presence will have on Kuze and Alya's relationship and interactions.

I'm super excited for the next episode. I almost want to just go ahead and read the LN.. a week feels like too long to wait.

Just go and read the novel you won't regret.
@DragyG The real question is: do I read it now and spoil the story, or do I tough it out and wait for the full season to finish first? Decisions, decisions...

So I’m following the anime, I don’t read written material, the older sister is who played with the male MC when he was a kid?

And now her younger sister likes the kid the older sister played with.

And the person in the picture is the male MC as a kid?
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

The answer isn't clear in the anime yet but if you don't wanna wait for the answer.

Kinda mediocre episode with a boring retrospection (the scene with Masachika taking Alya to dance with him was cute, though).

To bad there was no fanservice. Oh well. Maybe next time there will be some. At least those bits with Masha were funny.

So both Alisa and Maria's Seiyuus are Japanese, with Alisa's, Sumire Uesaka being RSL (Russian-as-a-Second-Language)? What about the extras in the flashback set in Vladivostok such as the students and teachers, where they native Russian speakers or RSL?

"Sorry boys, she’s taken.", what a hero. That was the moment, though she won't admit.

They are sure storying the pot for "who's the childhood friend?" theories.
"Sa-kun", well it's the second syllable in Masachika's name, though I thought of it as a stretch first, Maria speaking Russian to see if Masachika could speak it, too is very suspicious.

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022

Frankly, it was a very pleasant surprise this season.
I was convinced that LN just had an exaggerated fan base, so I wasn't expecting much.
I was really expecting drop after trying episode 1 in scout mode.
In the end I LOVE BCP, AND I HOPE IT CONTINUES TO GET BETTER!
I really liked Alya's past.
In the end she is far from being 1 umpteenth "dere" without any flavour.
She's simply a serious, passionate girl, but also with a very good background.
And, my other biggest surprise is the character of masachika!
I strongly agree!
My only fear now is how we're going to deal with Masachika's sister and Alya's sister.
Good show😁sincerly

This is one of the best shows I have ever seen. Shows like this make me love anime. Every character is terrific, and the main guy is likeable. OP is phenomenal as well. All wonderfully done.

The “sorry she’s taken” scene was so well done as expected of Doga Kobo and from that moment on, Alya and Kuze’s life would never be the same.

Kuze really manned up, it's a rarity. He doesn't fold like a cheap suit like most anime boys.

It feels like they want you to think Masha is the girl Kuze met in his childhood but I re watched the first episode and the girl from his past had blond hair and blue eyes unless he’s remembering wrong?

The promised girl always needs some mystery like Love Hina, Nisekoi and Gotoubun. As a rule, the boy and girl have fuzzy memories until later on.

Mentar said:
we should also recognize that she also has the ability to take a step back and apologize once she realizes that she's been in the wrong or unfair. Which is a quality which you generally don't find often in "bitchy" characters.

Right on. It's a gem of a show.

Another good Episode this week, we're seeing Alya past and how Her and Kuze became close friend, and we see Kuze past too, Masha seems very friendly person and i think Masha know Kuze also.

Oh and we got another Different Ending, if this thing continue we're probably gonna get a 12 Different Ending lmao, Todays Ending giving me the 80s J-Pop scene tho, kinda reminding me of X JAPAN a little, even though they're 2 different Genres haha.

The entire dance scene was so adorable and sweet, I literally had goosebumps. Kuze was so cool when he told the other guys that Alya was already taken.

It’s unfortunate that we didn’t get to see them dance. All the talk about folk dancing and ballet made me picture a scene similar to Titanic, when Rose and Jack were dancing to Irish folk music on the ship.

The scene of Masha patting Kuze’s head was so adorable and relaxing, it’s a shame it was ruined by Masha spilling her scalding hot tea on him.

If Masha is indeed Kuze’s childhood friend, I wonder if they will explain why her eye color changed. It’s fairly common for a person’s hair to change color from childhood to adolescence, but not eye color, unless she’s wearing colored contact lenses.

Also, why were their uniforms a different color in the flashback than their current ones? I much prefer the darker colored uniforms they wore in the flashback than their lighter colored ones in the present.

Turns out Kuze has narcolepsy bc he slept through all his classes (like me). Kuze really came in clutch and helped Alya by organizing an after hours work day. W move Kuze by pulling Alya away from the other guys and asserting his dominance. Nah, I don't like the older sister. She's pissing me off. Is she trying to play misattribution of arousal? I feel like she's going to tell Alya that Kuze bought the stuffie for her.

In the last episode discussion I mentioned how I found it weird that Kuze doesn't remember Alya from his childhood, because Alya seemed to remember him. Well, I was completely wrong.
This episode revealed that Alya only got to know Kuze at high school, and honestly their story was so cute! Really loving their chemestry and their stories.
I related a lot with Alya's feelings of wanting to try her best and come up with the best work possible, but others not giving the work the needed attention, because at school, in group works, as a perfectionist, I always wanted to present a nearly perfect work, the best we could make, but the other group members usualy would just slack off and not put in the right work, so I would have just to make my part, and their parts too, because I couldn't send the work without everything being properly done... So what could be a fun and important experience, always turned into something I hated due to how much work I had to put onto it, while others were just slacking off. I'm glad that Alya got to experience the good part of being a group project in her highschool years though! Group works are not always bad!
Anyway, is Masha really Alya's sister? When she talked about Saa, and showed the little pendant, I straigh away though "Oh gosh, he was friends with Alya's older sister, another Russian girl" and, for what it seems, Masha still has some feelings for him after all these years... And Kuze also seems to sense that he knows her too. Oh well, I wasn't expecting things to turn up like these, I really hope this matter can turn for the matter in the future, considering Masha and Alya are sisters.
We also got to know a bit more of Kuze's backstory, and it honestly seems so sad :(
Now it makes sense on why Yuki and Kuze live in different houses!

Really excited for the next episode! Would watch it right away if it was available!
