This whole anime was really heartwarming and sad at the same time, I was really sad after seeing those two go but I am relieved that they got be together till the very end and never left each other’s side. It was really a great rom-com also every episode was fulfilling and wholesome and the last episode made this a true masterpiece. This anime really showed how much a family means to someone who knows what it feels like to live with a caring and loving family and how much one's family can love them, to be honest I don’t have such family who cares for others but after watching this anime it really made me realize what a true family means and what they can do and sacrifice for others’ happiness. I will really miss Grandpa and Grandma TwT

when i first started watching this show i thought it was a completely normal show, nothing special, bad, or unique about it
but as i watched more and more of it i realized that it was special
it has a very well written and emotional story
the characters are great characters
mino is my favorite because she is voiced by mikami shiori and is very similar to akaza akari
she makes me very happy, i hope she will get married to shota and be very happy
grandpa and grandma are also great characters and so is shiori

i think the ending could have been better if they showed mino and shotas reaction to them dying but it was a great ending

mino and shota make for some ugly old people

the only thing im disappointed about is how short it is
i would have liked a lot more episodes with these characters, but this seems to be the end of the story since the two protagonists are dead

there are 2 things im confused about
first: when grandma had a week of sand left, grandpa gave her half of his sand, so she should have outlived him by a week
second: how come turning young again didnt extend their lives even though it healed them of all of the illnesses that could have ended their lives?

this was a great show very different from what i expected
anyone who wants an emotional show or is a fan of akaza akari should watch this show
@ToleratedToast6 I have to say, Mikami-sensei's voice doesn't fit a grandma at all! her voice is natural born for young girls.

The ending hit so hard man, I was crying nonstop. Rip together and the cycle continues after 50 years! and the grand daughter ended up as well, nice. Great anime!

I just watched the first episode and the anime wasn't what I expected. But given the comments I've read here (trying not to spoil me too much) I'll consider giving it a second chance.

What a lively new year's celebration. It made me remember my extended family reunions for various occasions. The age groups really tend to gather together after eating to do their own thing. Ine comforting the mothers is so aww. Vigorous nodding adults bumble through life despite the age!! We are anxious and fragile too! Haha

I saw the comments above and checked the author's twitter. So the anime adapted the manga's only recently released final chapter for the anime's final episode. Wow, that was just in time. Also what do you mean? They are just sleeping. They will laugh and thank Mino for waking them up so they can eat (blatantly ignores the hourglass imagery). Seriously: Our main couple is much loved by everyone, I cannot even imagine the weight of the passing of the news, and the emotions of the people they encountered through their lives upon receiving it.

I started this anime for the silly premise and was met with silly cute heartwarming story. Even cried several times. I wonder how extensively the chapters were adopted / what chapters they had to skip. I would have loved to see the Takahashis more. Satoshi's appearances let us see a Shiori different from her family interactions hehe

I'm already bored with the new Isekai genre in Anime, and this anime really gives a refreshing boost to other anime. I didn't expect to be able to enjoy romance and comedy with enough slice of life genre. Was crying on the last scene of jiisan and baasan moment , i already expect it will end like this. But i didnt think that would be so heartwarming watching it.

Even though there is no one crying on the last episode, but I get feel that you have lost the person you love most, the only gift you want is just being with people you love the most at their last moment.

10/10 for me
people said the graphic is not that good, but i think its fit on their genre for romcom and slice of life
the story run in perfect pace for me, 11 episode it doesn't feel rushed or too slow for me
the BGM feels really perfect for each moments

The last moments of them that only using wind sound
its really amazing, didnt need to put some song and we feels it
that they live their happy life until the last moment

A new theme but not properly executed, the child romance seems like out of the place and just taking the duration time of the episode only, like suddenly a girl fall in love with a shark teeth boy ( I don't really understand the implying of this Shark Teeth at all, what it supposed to mean ?) and a girl meet a dude an just fall in love like that, waste of duration time better they focus on the grandpa and grandma stories Rather then this useless romance but the ending surprised me not expecting that they will gone like that but it's still heartwarming, it's ashame that's it's not properly executed but thanks to that I not getting depressed after watching this

what an ending 😭
I knew at some point their time will come but it's still surreal ngl, but happy they passed away peacefully, just imagining it what it was like when Mino and Shouta realized they passed
but just like it is normally, you don't really think much about the time of passing and just think about what you're gonna get up to the day after and whatnot but it was nice they got to reminisce about everyone before they went and can see why Shouzou cried when Kousuke left, perhaps he knew that would be the last time he'd see him as well
it's all so bittersweet but that's life for you

was amused they decided to show Mino and Shouta 50 years later as well, their appearances being similar but just oldified was somewhat amusing ahahah

Welp, that was a great way to end the anime, they both passed on to the next life without regrets. Mino and Shouta ended together and found a golden apple on their apple tree just like Shouzo and Ine.

Well, shit. That sure was a bittersweet ending. Now how am I supposed to sleep peacefully tonight? T_T

Lovely show overall. Not a fan of how the fantasy aspect was handled since I found it kinda half-assed but other than that, it was beyond endearing to follow Shouzou and Ine's life story throughout these 11 episodes. Gotta say it made me reflect on life a couple of times.

7/10 - Why do Mino and Shouta look so destroyed post time-skip tho? They should be around 65. Not freaking 85 lol.

It's New Year and the Saitos are having their brood come over to enjoy the New Year festivities. Funny scenes and traditional gift giving ensued.

Then Mino and Shota went to the apple orchard to help the grandparents. They are seeing a new couple in the making which make them glad about it.

As the elderly couple sat together under an apple tree, they talked about how their family is doing. Seems everyone is doing well. They both have their wish come true and have no regret. As they drifted into a sleep, the sand in the hourglass begins to be emptied into the bottom half. They passed away peacefully just as Mino and Shota come over with bento for lunch.

After credit, scene turns to 50 years later with Shota and Mino are elderly couple with the tree they planted as students has a golden apple amongst the apples. Seems the same thing returning with a pair of butterflies flying around perhaps alluding to grandparents. They decided to eat the golden apple rather than as an offering.

What a bittersweet ending. An underrated anime which has lots of slice of life moments.

Last few minutes were infinitely better than the rest of the series. I didn't like the show at all but the ending being good helps a bit though, at least happy for that despite how bittersweet it was.
@animejas agree. It has quite a number of slice of life moments.

The first half proceeds with the usual silliness, but it is quite poignant how it ended. They didn't even mourn for their demise because the author wanted to show us that they lived a fulfilling lives.

And of course, the cycle will repeat again in ther granddaughter and her husband.

The ending was very nice and touched by their deaths, just because they died at the same time that I felt happy to see it, it was so romantic, really only death separates

Lovely anime. It was another episode, (9 I think), but when Ine said she had a week left to live, that was painful to hear. Then Shouzou decided to give her half of his time left, that was a really beautiful thing to witness.

I will definitely remember this one.

I knew, we all knew that was coming, the death and Jii-san trusting their farm to Shota was emotional, and they really put the cherry on top by showing old Mino and Shota after the ED. This anime really gives me a new perspective of "The Good Ending" because it really is the ending of their story, and it's beautiful. I no longer wonder what happened to the couple, like in other romance anime, really satisfying.

Well ... they actually ended it like this. Hot damn.

Left the mostly cute and cheerful story with a sour taste in my mouth.

But on the other hand, I guess it had an ending. Nothing left up for debate, nothing to theorize about.
Thats basically death as well. And it was also exactly what those two were hoping for, too. Dying together at the same time.

A very very enjoyable anime that kinda felt like there could have been more fun adventures those two could go on. But again - I guess thats death for you.

Loved those two a lot and how in love they still were all those years ... relationship goals (esp. because there are couples like that).

Interesting slice of life. Anime authors are focusing more and more on aged characters. I think anime fans from the 70s and 80s have reached the point where anime is about them. Anime for/about old people? A new trend in Japan?

As the summary indicated, the creators conveyed several life lessons through heartwarming & bittersweet moments. Also having watched the Conjuring: Last Rites only yesterday, both sharing similar ending, the emotions were heightened.

One thing came as a surprise to me was the way the collapsing population of the nation was portrayed having an impact on the entire cast. As someone from a country with largest population in the world, it's not something I don't enjoy fantasizing even though I've seen several youtube documentaries. This anime felt more impactful on this. Glad to have watched this :)
