The universe is not really "outside of you" because your senses are collecting data and this data is sent to your brain to make up what is called "reality", the issue is that the data it is flawed, incomplete, filtered and your brain recreates this data in a understandable and compatible form with your essence which is different from not just the other life forms but people of your kind. If the data you collect is also fake and manipulated this won't help at all.  The universe is probably just data, it's math and what you perceive as reality is an interface and interpretation but this doesn't mean it is fake. It is just that, to help you out inside of it because otherwise you wouldn't be able to doanything. Just like you wouldn't be able to live in this house  your brain makes what it is suitable for you. Anyway if someone is trying to lie to you first ask yourself why is such reason is plausible investigate it if its not you're just paranoid. |

| Whether or not they are real doesn't really have any impact on my life anyway so I don't think it's that important. I could be living in the matrix right now and all my family, friends, and you guys could be just in my mind or simulated or whatever, but if that's the case it's a damn good simulation and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. Besides, if my whole life is fake, it still feels pretty real to me. To answer your questions: 1. I guess you can't really 'know' anything at that point, but I don't see any evidence suggesting that other people don't really exist. 2. Things require you to believe in them: I believe in things based on evidence, not just on faith. There is lots of evidence that these things are real, and not much evidence to the contrary. 3. Short total extinction events are super rare. In almost every scenario there's gonna be survivors.
