Frieren finally showing how much mana she really has was OH so satisfying. Loved how when she told Aura to kill herself she had her back turned and walking away, almost like Aura wasn’t worth her time. Love our cold queen! 😍 (

Last scene was so cold. She walks a way simply unfazed because her 1,000 year strategy (unsurprisingly) works. Also the music too, that shit was fire; one of the best climax compositions I've heard.

This episode, while partly a flashback, felt so damn impressive from start to finish.

The flashback in question was an important one, as it showed how Flamme and Frieren first met, where Freiren herself being the only survivor of an elf village which was attacked by the demons. It was there that Flamme helped her, as well as showcasing her technique that "makes a mockery of magic". In her words, while it might be disrespectful to normal magic users, she has no issue with using this to defeat any unfair demons in her way with their own unfair deceiving towards normal living beings.

You can see how long it took Freiren to master her mana suppression, seeing how she and Flamme wondered around towns filled with Greek/Roman inspired architecture, then proceeding to see the same settlement that Frieren stayed close to change throughout the centuries and into a castle town, where Himmel's party arrive and invited her to join.

And with that, the episode brings the story back to the present, where Aura was proudly boasting about her strong technique and how she's been successful during her 500 year lifespan. However, within seconds, Frieren made a complete mockery of Aura's strength by unleashing her mana, then mentioning how she's been alive for more than 1,000 years before using Aura's own technique against by commanding her to die while walking away, having her back towards Aura. It's how the episode shifted into Aura's POV as she beheaded herself was very brutal, but once again shows how huge of a difference her and Frieren's power levels are.

Not to forget, Evan Call's soundtrack was on fire in this episode and contributing in making every scene feel so beautiful, but also intense and epic.

This is easily a 10/10 episode. I hope there's more episodes as amazing as this one further into the series. =)

I really love the description of demons in this anime. It seems more logical than the others. ''Use your mana to deceive demons just like they deceive humans with words''. This is what I call a brilliant writing. This anime is trully beautiful.

this HAS to be the best episode of this season. If not then we're up for a masterpiece of a series. The moment Frieren released all her mana and the build up to the tipping of the scales, it was so well done. I was as immersed as i would be in a movie. Aura's death was somewhat disappointing compared to what i expected, but executed really well. "Aura, kys"
yas gurlie that was so colddddd.

This was a nice episode seeing the relationship between Frieren and her master.

I already saw a screenshot of the beheading scene relating it to the scene from Fate Zero with Lancer. I'm glad Frieren is ruthless against demons, as she should be.

I wonder if the teacher's grave is still standing. I hope it is. Its been over 1000 years so it might not be there anymore. Maybe we'll see it at some point during the series.

So she lived nearly a thousand years or presumably almost her entire long life in obscurity till Himmel got her out of it? DAMN... No wonder she's greatly found of him even "long" after his death.
If demons respect or/and follow other demons with more mana, wouldn't they do the same with other creatures who may have more mana than them since all what they care about is mana anyways?!! If it wasn't for the absolute hate and vengeance will both Frieren and her master shares against demonkind I would probably assume it's somewhat a plothole since in theory they may be able to control and maybe enslave them with their overwhelming mana.

Frieren is not a genius. Mana increases with years of training so the older the mage, the greater the mana. Frieren got that powerful because she trained for 1000 years. Aura only trained for around 500 years so her mana could never compare.

But this is only about mana. There's way more to the magic system in this series than mana. And it's not impossible for a mage with less mana than Frieren to beat her.

True, but Aura and Frieren met 80 years prior and unless their fight was different then, Frieren already had over 500 years of training than Aura, so she should already have more mana.

Frieren is so cold that she doesn't even have to finish her enemies, they finished themselves for her. Not only was that a display of power, it was also a display of disrespect. "I'm not even bothering with you, go ahead and die".
She fights demons like a demon, and you can see that they don't really understand that.

I actually started having a feeling that Fern and Frieren were suppressing their mana before it was mentioned. I was thinking Frieren was more like 400 maybe 600 years old but damn didnt expect her to be over 1,000. No wonder she has such a poor gauge of time perception of others. There are so few lifeforms on Earth I can think of as long lived as her. I love how the mana is animated where you really can get a sense of the pressure waves from it.

This episode exceeded my expectations. I already knew that this episode will cover Aura vs. Frieren but what i didn't know was that this will also have a lot of backstory of Frieren. It finally covered my biggest answer in all of the series; how Frieren will meet Flamme. it also adds the 'don't judge a book by it' cover' moral of how you shoudn't judge any mage by their mana. As always, Frieren once again exceeded my expectations. Cant wait for Episode 11 now.

Ok shonen guy I suggest you should drop the anime right now because action is not what Frieren anime mainly showcases. Rating it 5 is an absolute blasphemy for the creators who worked such an amazing adaptation, only to be called boring and stupid.

"Kill yourself"

The satisfaction of finally delivering that line after releasing her mana must have done wonders for Frieren. Not only was her approach based on demons' overconfidence correct, it really shows us a different way of tackling them from just hits. Let them expect to win and make that their downfall. Now, what would happen if she confronted Anos-sama? Hmmm, food for thought.

this is the part of the story which finalizes setting Frieren aside of the majority of the manga/animes, and even begs the question: is this really shounen or rather seinen?

No..there are no flashy action scenes, yet the few that are there Madhouse has given them God level animation. the big "battle" ends up being dialogue and a play of wits. The battle started hundreds of years before, and this story is not for battles but for contemplation. there will be a bit more physical arcs in the future, but anybody who wants this to be a normal shounen will be disappointed every single time.

Flamme is beautifully designed and great VA. I almost teared up with their last talks about the simple spells that make you actually love magic (can you see the metaphore with life?)

And yes, they delivered the perfect plot crescendo to give us the look at what Frieren actually is in an epic yet so simple and masterful way.
This for me is the episode that cements Frieren as anime of the year. The battle for it with Pluto will be fierce but I trust the community and critics will end up making the right decision.

Wow, what an incredible episode! I knew how the fight with Aura would turn out, but the journey to get there was nothing short of amazing. It was so much more than just an epic battle; it was a true feast for the senses. The music and direction were, as always, top-notch. This has to be one of the most visually stunning and emotionally resonant works of recent years. Absolute spectacle! ❤️
