Why are Tokyo Movie Shinsha and TMS Entertainment listed as seperate companies? Aren't they one and the same

Okay I'm a bit confused by this, Tokyo Movie Shinsha and TMS Entertainment have the exact same logo and foundation date. One Wikipedia they are the same page, with Tokyo Movie Shinsha redirecting to TMS Entertainment. I'm pretty sure they're the exact same company.

It gets even more confusing because on this site they're sometimes used interchangeably. For example, the studio listed for Shin Ace wo Nerae! is Tokyo Movie Shinsha, the sequel Ace wo Nerae! 2 is listed under TMS Entertainment, and the sequel to that Ace wo Nerae! Final Stage is listed under Tokyo Movie Shinsha again.

I remember asking that question once and I was told that it was because they were renamed which doesn't make sense to me as other companies have also been renamed but the website still considers them the same company.

Tokyo Movie Shinsha has the acronym TMS and entertainment is added because the word movie isn't visible anymore so that users or investors still can see it is an entertainment company. It may be the same firm but spelled out name might be from before the acronym. That's without looking into it.

Might be because older generation frequently uses the old name when searching and TMS wanted their older users to easily find them.

We already had this topic before

AniDB does the same thing.

Tokyo Movie Shinsha died in 1995 after merging with Kyokuichi

In 2000 Kyokuichi Tokyo Movie was renamed to TMS Entertainment.

This reminds me of what happened to Seven Arcs, how it split up and so there was a Seven Arcs Pictures for a while.

Doubt it. There are many companies out there with unintuitive names, but that never stopped investors from figuring out what they were.
Avatar character is Gabriel from Gabriel DropOut.

Yeah, and seems a logical answer already has been posted in this thread.
