| The whole [person dies] [half episode backstory] gig is getting old fast.. there's so much in this show that they could be showing instead, it's pulling an oshi no ko showing off all the BG characters lives and its sucking. 5/10 |

| Nooo. Not my boy Tenza. He was such a good spirited guy with a positive attitude. He went from being a complete bum with no future to being a skilled executioner. All thanks to master Shion. Tenza went out like a champ. Fighting til his last breath. He will be missed. |

| really glad I'm not the only one to comment on the obvious pattern here. I knew literally from the opening backstory scene that Tenza was about to die (although I assumed Nurugai was going to get axed too). I've been thinking for several episodes now that this show is a twist on Basilisk: The Kouga Ninja Scrolls, and this rote storytelling pattern cements it. that said, at least Tenza got a real backstory, unlike these other characters who got maybe a 2 minute posthumous flashback and that was that. it feels cheap, but the pattern worked in Basilisk and it kind of works here too. this was among the better episodes in a while. this trainwreck of a week for emotionally fatiguing anime continues. Oshi no Ko, Tengoku Daimakyou, this... 'bout to watch Loving Yamada hoping for a palette cleanser but petrified something tragic is gonna happen there too. |

| Wow, that was really good, It's not to often you get a student dying for their mentor, It's usually the other way around, and I thought it was going to end up that way here too, definitely caught me off guard. really looking forward to Shion and Nurugai's relationship after this, definitely my favorite subplot now. |

| It's a bit of a shame, it's development leaves a lot to be desired. Feels like wasted potential. There's potential for the smaller pieces coming together eventually and creating something interesting, but the start isn't the most convincing. |
| Back when this adaptation was announced, I was pretty hyped for it. I'm glad it is turning out as entertaining as I hoped it would be. |

| So I think they are pretty dumb... Here are the conclusions I managed to atain so far: 1. the 2 things most powerful are former humans that have become some sort of plant life. 2. they expand their life using the elixir which uses human life to increase its quantity. 3. they are not immortal and would eventually die if deprived of the elixir 4. Using cuts is not sufficient to deplete their life fast enough. Fire or chemical substances need to to be used to do this 5. Apparently most do not understand bringing back the elixir is practically impossible. Basically even though they can bring some of it at most it can extend the life of a person for some time and outside the island cannot be regenerated. Also the person would become more of a monster the more it uses the elixir. 6. The "sages" are just a fluke of people that managed to stay human after drinking the elixir, the little girl is another 7. Seems the little girl is the only one that remained human after using the elixir. This means two things: first children can resist the negative effects of the elixir much better and second the chances of the elixir not turning into a monster are extremely slim. 8. Even if there is a current drifting everything back to the island using ores a group of 4-6 people could move away from the island 9. The daimio will never keep their promise to set them free. They will be execute for nothing else if to maintain the secret |

| @ChocoWin Those plant things need to sacrifice human lifes to the main plant core to continue living. It would have been killed either way. Worst case being transformed into an abomination. But because it produced too much injury to the plant body he decided to kill him. Also consider this: the amount of elixir that gets generated per person fed to the main plant is extremely small and they need to to continue their life as fake gods. |
