As someone who has no idea abt the show and who has not watched the original I thoroughly enjoyed this. I am really looking forward to this. VAs did a great job and I have no problem with having no nipple shots. The colours were amazing and That Op is a banger, sasuga DP. Overall 5/5 ep. |

Just this "censorship is bad" crap y'all keep pushing in these forums is just so stupid. Especially when we're talking about Yatsura of all things. WHO CARES if ya don't see a nipple when Lum lost her bra? Thats pretty much the only scene outside of a hot spring episode later on that you see any of that in the original show (unless it changes drasticly past episode 79). Don't paint this extremely false representation of a show to the new viewers. If ya wanna doom about censorship in media, take it somewhere else where its actually relevant. Flashy mind pain colors, neon hair, censorship, bad animation, this anime remake is awful. Hope it will recover Is not muticoloured. Lum's hair is green aquamarine dark green. Depending on the lighting the shade might change but is not made of neon. The colors are awful. The covers are a different issue completely. And yes, I'm very much aware the Lum's hair is green in the anime. But, if you read my post you'd have realized that I mentioned Rumiko Takahashi's COLORED PAGES when I talked about Lum's hair being multicolored. If that doesn't make it clear enough, allow me to rescind that part of my post, and talk about her Illustrations instead. She's always added some extra colors with water color in the base of her hair. And the fact that David Production is bringing that here is a great twist to the original. She looks much more alien and thats great! |

Lum is really cute though. Lum's VA sounds pretty cute too and it suits Lum. Is Lum Yandere? Whatever but it is funny. It was ridiculous how Lum thought she was being proposed to and then the dad agreed too💀 The OP is such a banger. Can't describe how much I liked it. The visuals, the music. Top tier. Same goes for the ED. Both of the have great visuals. Liked the use of bright colours in both OP and ED. ED song is a banger too. I really want to see some cute Lum moments and hopefully some romantic moments between Lum and our MC. I mean it's already clear who the best girl is. 5/5. If Oyuki can have Ice for hair and Kurama can have crow wings for hers, I don't see how changing hair color with light and or when she uses her lightning powers outside the norm of a caricature of a human. As for your description of censorship? Cutting scenes for an adaptation does not necessarily mean its to censor the product. They are adapting 366 chapters in 48 episodes, as a sort of anniversary series. Meaning some fat needs to be cut. Anyway, bottom line is, you don't like the adaptation. Thats fine, its not like I don't share your love of the original. So if ya just can't give this new one a go? Guess thats your business. |

I understood from the beginning that some people wouldn't like this, but man, everyone is so overcritical over the first episode. I enjoyed the animation in this a lot and the more manga stylized hair. I'm not a huge fan of Sumire's performance but Kamiya did a pretty good job. This is pretty great so far and I'm glad there's a version more accessible to a new generation of fans. |

Loved the art and animation. OP and ED are straight fire. Lum's design is great. However, maybe it didn't help that I watched it at 8AM, but it was so loud with all the yelling I didn't find it very funny/enjoyable. Dunno if I'll be sticking around unfortunately. |

They are adapting 366 chapters in 48 episodes, as a sort of anniversary series. Meaning some fat needs to be cut. Just an FYI for those unfamiliar with the manga: That "some fat" in this case shapes up to be around 60-75% of the entire source material, this episode alone was already skipping more chapters then it ended up adapting. |

Love how the first shot is of London (please let Matt Lucas dub Ataru's dad for English!) The OP is hella aesthetic for the city scenery (alsp space Invader parody cuz Lum is am invader lol), not to mention Lum coming to life from manga pages and the use of screentone dots for shading in some scenes. Lum and Ataru's engagement is based on misunderstanding. The public keep blaming unlucky Ataru and his family for everything lmao Multicolored hair really brings the alieness to Lum. |

So after carefully watching the first episode again is even worse than I first thought. They cut over 3 chapters, the jokes are said in a manner that is not funny, they add stuff because they feel the need to explain every single thing to the viewer and takes away of the enjoyment. Also it simplifies a lot of the interactions. She does not start to say to say no cheating yet. |

So far it seems like it is a bit faster paced than the original series by a lil bit. They've also jumbled up the contents of the manga, but that ain't too far off from how the original anime did it I suppose. It felt less justifiable here, since the OG series made it feel more like set up and I feel like it spaced out the events of the story better than the manga. Here it felt a bit jumpy, but who knows how next week will play out. The animation was neat as expected. The lines are really clean and Lum looks absolutely AMAZING. Her hair, eyes and pail skin really accentuate her beauty in quite possibly my favourite version of her character in any of the Urusei Yatsura media. Ataru is strangelymore good looking and same goes for the other characters it seems. Odd. The background assets and colours are vibrant and it just looks very neat. So far the adaptation is carried by the source material mostly and is acting as more shoe shine than creating it's own original content for the most part. Hopefully we see something more interesting as the show goes on. I struggle seeing the point of even making the remake given how well the original anime has aged in my eyes. You could literally just give the OG some shoe shine with a digital remaster or use AI to make the lines and colours more crisp in a re-release. Oh well. I guess we'll see how these things go I suppose. |

Hmm as motherships go that one looks more like a airship shaped like a banana than a real threat. Bit of advice for Ataru though, when trying to console your other half don't look at other girls. Funny that even a monk would have ID. Still Ataru really had some luck huh being picked as the champion. Though I wonder given how cute Lum is whether this is a bad thing. Well if anything marrying your childhood friend that you crushed on will be a great motivator. And indeed that was one hell of a comeback. Though the results sure were unexpected. If anything this only served to make the struggle between Ataru, Lum and Shinobu that much more entertaining. Looks like from this day onwards Ataru's life will be anything but boring. |

Starting to regret I benched Iruma-kun for this. Gonna be interesting to see how long I can milk the nostalgic users on this show before it gets back on the bench. I don't like this comedy, but I hope its golden among most other people. Especially since the remake toned down the ecchi parts people would stay for even if the show otherwise is bad. They do capture some nice 80's style and make it pop nicely, giving it a unique touch. If the hype train continues for another episode it might be a quick secondary ace before Fumetsu airs. But I don't have particularly high hopes for that right now. |

Coming from someone who read the manga and watched the original anime, this was done well!! Lum's hair was so fucking pretty for what reason??? Was colored just like in the official cover art in the manga and the way it changed along with the lighting left me in awe. Fell in love with her all over again watching the first ep. I was wondering how the studio would pull off the Lums top being snatched since her whole chest was out with no censorship originally.. what really made me happy is how they kept the very neon and 80's night club aesthetic throughout!!! :D I was surprised to hear Minami (the same singer from the domestic girlfriend op) her voice is unmistakable for the opening, though the original opening and ending can never be topped <33 But super excited to watch the rest of the eps!! |

The animation looks gorgeous. Out of all the remakes I've seen so far, this is by far my favorite look. I do miss Lum's blue eyes though. However, I do need to get used to their new voices quite a bit. Toshio Furukawa & Fumi Hirano were so incredibly iconic and charming in their respective roles, I had such a hard time listening to the new VA's. Kamiya I'm quite familiar with and he has had some great performances during his career, but I'm not quite on board with his take on Ataru so far... Maybe I'll warm up to it idk. Lum I don't vibe with as for right now :') Cherry and Shinobu sounded fine! While I did enjoy this first episode, I still feel like it was even more over the top than the original lol. Not a fan of the VA's screaming their lines |

Hardly felt like a first episode to me, it feels like they really just wanted to jump into it and the introductions to the series and characters was an afterthought haha still good though I'm glad David Pro is taking some liberties with the series and how they arrange it, yknow, not a shot for shot remake of the manga or OG anime. Idrc about the censoring, I didn't expect we'd see Lum's nipples this time, you just don't see that nowadays. Still, they must be really small if you couldn't see them at all with those thin bra straps blocking it lmao. I like how mad Lum gets in this, she seems to have a lot more personality so far! |

I went and watched the first dozen eps of the original anime and gotta say this is way more engaging to me. The pacing and small changes in the scenes do it a lot more justice. Most of the dialogue is nearly identical too. I honestly thought they were gonna take out the lame bad tasting joke of Ataru's mom going I wish I never had him, but they even left that in. If I happen to make It past ep 12 of this then I will consider this a successful and great remake. (Also, the art is amazing, let's hope I don't get annoyed with all the characters by ep 12) |

God this was awful. It was like a cheap, soulless parody of the original. And that degenerate opening that looked and sounded more like some dumb Tik Tok video. I can't speak for the original anime, but this definitely holds up well in comparison with the manga which I'm currently reading at the moment. The chapters that were skipped weren't so brilliant that people have to throw a fuss over their omission. Some of you have rose tinted glasses on. Btw, here's a recent interview with Rumiko about the new adaptation: https://furinkan.com/takahashi/takahashi59.html The goal of this adapatation is to be more faithful to the manga. MC voice is a bit too high pitch and annoying for me. In terms of jokes after, watching the original the OG had better jokes that landed. Moving along, I don't mind the non nudity to much but, find the show odd or refreshing that they were able capture that 80's anime look with a modern look. (Also wish they kept the space girl hair green then that green rainbow color thing. ) Lastly, did any one else pick up the MC using tinder in the OP song? |

Hard to adapt to the new voice cast, but they do a good job tbh. Same for the sound FXs, the 80's synths sounds used for Lamu flying around for exemple is so emblematic, it's hard to see her fly without it. It was ok and a remake will always attract criticism from old guys who grew up watching it like me. So far not bad but ... will see the next few episodes. |

I know nothing about the original, but this was great and fun as hell. Ah yes, Araragi shouting for Shinobu, nothing new here folks. This man though is an unapologetic degenerate, respect respect lmao. Shinobu has 0% chance when she's up against an alien Oni. Since I know nothing about this, I am really curious where we go from here, like of course they're not gonna be creating a triangle of death for 50+ episodes lmao. Really looking forward to the next episode. |
