The 12th and final episode of the Orient television anime announced on Thursday a second part, which will be adapting the Awajishima Gekitou-hen (The Battle of Awaji Island arc). The official website also revealed five additional cast members and an illustration (pictured) drawn by Shinobu Ohtaka to commemorate the announcement. The second cour is scheduled to premiere on Tokyo MX, BS TV, and AT-X in July 2022.

Cast
Tatsuomi Uesugi: Tomoaki Maeno (Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken)
Naoe Kanetatsu : Natsuki Hanae (Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu)
Masaki Amakusa: Yoshiki Nakajima (Plunderer)
Akihiro Shimazu: Kouki Uchiyama (Takt Op. Destiny)
Amako Katsumi: Gakuto Kajiwara (Black Clover)

Tetsuya Yanagisawa (High School DxD) helmed the first cour at A.C.G.T. with Mariko Kunisawa (Honzuki no Gekokujou) in charge of series composition. Takahiro Kishida (Durarara!!) handled the character design and Hideyuki Fukasawa (Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works) composed the music.

The anime adapts Shinobu Ohtaka's action fantasy manga of the same name, which began serializing in Weekly Shounen Magazine in May 2018. Kodansha shipped the 14th volume on January 7. Kodansha USA licensed the manga digitally in English in April 2020 and released the 11th volume in April this year. The physical edition of the 7th volume was released on February 1.

Synopsis
Freed from the rule of samurai 150 years ago, the people of Hinomoto live peaceful lives and revere their liberators—demons whose true forms remain elusive—as gods. Fated to mine rocks for the demons to feast on, Musashi knows the grim truth: humanity is enslaved by these otherworldly beings and the samurai are the last bastion fighting for freedom. Hiding his true opinion from his peers and growing distant from his childhood friend Kojirou Kanemaki, Musashi lives in angst until the day of his graduation.

When the fresh graduates arrive at the mine, they are horrified to see the inhumane treatment of miners and the uncanny physical appearance of their overseers. However, Musashi manages to endure thanks to Kojirou's help. As the demon leader wreaks havoc on the quarry, Musashi is saved once more from certain death by the Takeda samurai clan. Recovering from humiliation and yearning for adventure, Musashi embarks on a journey to become a samurai and form his own clan! [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Oh, so it was a split-cour season all along? And here I thought it was just going to be a 12 episode first season and nothing else. Glad to be getting more Orient so soon, despite the hate it's been getting.

Same here, especially since it took a year I think for Magi to get its second season

But overall I didn't mind this....The animation isn't as great as Magi's but I still enjoyed the story and what else we got action and character wise

The anime has a terrible score. I'm sure the 200 members watching this anime will be very happy.

hm mixed feelings. It had some potential but felt a bit underwhelming, but hey, maybe the 2nd cour will be the real good stuff

So everyone is doing new seasons and cours based on Kimetsu no Yaiba's rhetoric, I see the influence being somewhat of a head scratcher.

They certainly do, don't they. Shame they all missing one important factor ... the money earned in the process lol.

Just gonna hope the animation will be better. I'm lowkey believing that the first cour uses a lot of outsource so the main team can focus on the second one, considering the second cour will be aired this year's July.

How is it failed? The next arc is really good and the story is getting really interesting.
